Chapter 174, Section 173: Climbing into his wife's bed

After hanging up the phone, Jiang Xia wore what was supposed to be a doting aunt's smile.

"Go ahead, go ahead, Yanwan's mom is cooking noodles right now," Lin Gaoyuan said with a smile. He liked this kid's straightforward and honest personality.
"Is Dad going to the company now?"
"Yes, I need to talk to the people from Tom and Jerry tomorrow. I think we should have them conduct an on-site inspection of the factory. If you don't show sincerity in doing business, it's hard for others to trust you," Lin Gaoyuan said.
“That’s true.” Jiang Xia smiled. “Dad, keep it up.”
Lin Gaoyuan chuckled and nodded: "Alright, you should go upstairs now, I'm going to the factory too."
"Uh-huh."
After saying goodbye to his father-in-law, Jiang Xia went upstairs with light steps, only to find that the door was not closed properly, as if it had been deliberately left open for him.
He pushed the door open and saw Ji Wanqiu pouring tea. There was a pair of slippers on the doormat facing inwards, clearly prepared for him.
"Xia's here?" the mother-in-law chuckled.
"Good morning, Mom." He changed his shoes and went inside.
"Yanwan's dad just called and said he didn't believe me. I was thinking, how could you get up so early? They're both still sleeping." The mother-in-law handed over the tea. She had light makeup on her face, and it looked like she was going out soon too.
"I went to bed a little early last night. The dogs in the neighborhood kept barking when it was just getting light, and I couldn't fall back asleep after that," Jiang Xia said, scratching his head.
"That's right, some dogs are really annoying. A while ago, I couldn't sleep at all because of the barking, but it's gotten much better recently." Ji Wanqiu has a deep understanding of dog barking.
"You haven't had breakfast yet, have you? Would you like noodles or a fried egg?"
"Mom, I'm not very hungry right now, so you don't need to worry about me." He blinked. "If you have something to do, you can go ahead and do it. I'll make breakfast for Yanwan and Xiaoman when they get up in a bit."
"Well……"
Ji Wanqiu glanced at the wall clock; it was just past 7 a.m. According to their usual routine, her two daughters didn't get up until around 8 a.m. She usually made breakfast for them before rushing off to work.
Today I'm going to clean the factory again, trying to leave a good impression on the creators of Tom and Jerry.
Her time is indeed a bit tight.
"Xia, then I won't stand on ceremony with you. Please take care of Yanwan and Xiaoman. I'm indeed a bit busy today," Ji Wanqiu said, pursing her lips.
"No trouble at all, no trouble at all. This is nothing. I'll be cooking for Yanwan for the rest of my life. As for Xiaoman, I'm her brother-in-law, so it's only right," Jiang Xia said with a smile.

Ji Wanqiu left with a beaming smile. She trusted Jiang Xia completely and didn't think he would do anything inappropriate while alone with her two daughters.
If he really had such thoughts, Jiang Xia would have already taken advantage of Yan Wan long ago, why would he wait until now?
On the contrary, both adults went out to work, leaving their two daughters at home, and Jiang Xia played the role of the one who could step forward in critical moments.
Sometimes she even felt that the child had no flaws at all, and that finding such a good son-in-law was simply her blessing.
Taro Ball appeared at Jiang Xia's feet without him noticing, gently rubbing his ankle with its cute cat head. He squatted down and stroked Taro Ball's chin. The kitten closed its eyes comfortably and made a gurgling sound.
He then realized that, after not paying much attention for a while, Taro Ball had grown quite a bit bigger and its temperament had become more and more docile, making it more and more like the big lazy cat he remembered.
After petting the cat for a while, he scooped the litter box for Taro Ball, changed its water and food, and then gently pushed open his wife's bedroom door and sneaked in.
With the door closed, the curtains in the bedroom effectively blocked out the light, making it very dark. The air conditioner was set to 26 degrees Celsius, and it was just right to cover myself with the air conditioning blanket.
Jiang Xia quietly lay down by the bed, looking at his wife's delicate features, her long eyelashes, her straight nose, and her soft lips, and couldn't help but think of the dream he had last night.
