Chapter 27 Rumors Stop with the Wise

When Lin Yanwan stepped into the classroom, she noticed that many people were looking at her with strange expressions.

As soon as she sat down, Shen Ying tugged at her sleeve and asked in a low voice, "Yan Wan, are you in a relationship?"

She was stunned. No wonder the others had been looking at her strangely. How could news of what had just happened have already spread? That was incredibly fast.

"No way..." Looking at her expression, Shen Ying gasped and said in disbelief, "What Zhou Yang said is actually true?"

Who? Zhou Yang?

Lin Yanwan frowned slightly. In the depths of her long-forgotten memories, this name slowly overlapped with the name of the boy who had called her from the noodle shop earlier.

For no reason at all, I felt an even greater dislike for that guy.

There's a reason why I don't have much of an impression of him.

"Yan Wan, who is he? Do I know him?" Shen Ying was very curious about who could capture the heart of this ice queen.

Lin Yanwan's eyes twitched slightly, and she sat up straight to begin preparing for the next part of her self-study session.

"Yingying, don't listen to their nonsense, it's not true."

"Huh? No? But a few other people are saying they saw you having breakfast with a boy from another class, chatting and laughing, and acting very intimately."

Lin Yanwan's expression froze. She had forgotten that there were many people buying breakfast earlier, which meant that more than one person had witnessed that scene.

For some reason, she felt her ears burning. She regretted not agreeing to Jiang Xia's proposal.

It's all his fault.

Being with him will bring bad luck (I'm sure of it).

"No, just a very ordinary friend."

She calmly shook her head, then took out her Chinese textbook from the drawer, randomly flipped to a page, and began to read aloud.

Those who are innocent will remain innocent, and rumors will stop with the wise.

The morning self-study session for graduating students is undoubtedly all about memorizing, memorizing, and more memorizing.

Although Jiang Xia has regained her former knowledge, she still needs to put in more effort in her studies if she wants to do better than in her previous life.

Jiang Xia held his English book and read aloud. Once he entered a highly focused state, his memory was exceptionally good. He could remember an English text almost perfectly after reading it about three times.

Such terrifying learning efficiency can only be described in two words—abnormal.

Hearing the recitation coming from the side, Chen Yao glanced at him in surprise. Was this guy on some kind of high-energy boost today? It was a little unusual to see him suddenly so serious.

Although it was different from his usual lazy style, it was obviously a good thing. As Jiang Xia's deskmate, Chen Yao still hoped that he could get good grades.

Before he knew it, the morning self-study session had passed by amidst the students' loud reading voices. After class, Jiang Xia continued to take out the storyboard and draw the remaining original drawings, ignoring everything that happened around him or which classmates were laughing and playing around.

Compared to his passion for animation, even studying could only come second.

In high school, compared to the heavy academic workload, rumors about who was dating or who wrote love letters to whom always spread very quickly.

Even if you're not familiar with the people involved, you can't help but join in the fun. At the very least, you can compare the looks of the man and woman to see if they're a good match.

When Chen Yao came back from the restroom, she heard more than once that the aloof goddess from the next class seemed to be dating someone.

She shook her head with some regret. She knew Lin Yanwan, who was ranked first in her grade, and not just knew her, but was also her rival.

The two students' grades weren't too far apart. In the last monthly exam, she ranked fifth in the entire grade, but first in the humanities section.

I really don't know what Lin Yanwan was thinking. At this point in her life, instead of focusing on improving herself, even a fool would know that it would definitely affect her grades. Or is she really that confident in getting into her dream university?

Back in her seat, Chen Yao saw Jiang Xia engrossed in drawing. It was clear that his diligent state during the morning self-study session was fake. If he put in a third of the effort he put into drawing, he could probably get into a top art academy with ease.

She shook her head secretly, casually took out a math test paper from the drawer and started answering the questions, then noticed out of the corner of her eye that several students from other classes had suddenly appeared at the door.

Although this kind of thing happens sometimes, this time it seems a little different. Several boys kept pointing and gesturing in her direction.

"Who are you looking for, students?" someone asked.

"The boy in that corner."

"Jiang Xia, someone is looking for you."

Jiang Xia blocked out all the sounds around him and immersed himself in his own world until Chen Yao poked his arm with the tip of her pen, at which point he belatedly looked up.

A group of men looking for him? That's insane!

"Holy crap! Holy crap! It's exactly the same, it's him!"

"But he looks just so-so, a tiny bit more handsome than me."

What happened to Jiangxia?

“He stole our class beauty,” a student from Class 1 said heartbrokenly.

"Huh? Who's the class beauty?"

"You don't know Lin Yanwan?"

"Holy crap!? Really?!"

"Hey, what are you guys talking about behind my back? It's just that my brother is dating your goddess. They're a young couple, it's just a casual date, having a meal together, what's the big deal? I've known about this for a long time." Wang Ming showed a disdainful expression.

Are you only now starting to enjoy this? That's a bit slow, young man.

This statement caused a huge stir, and the entire class was shocked, turning to look at the boy in the back row by the window.

In their eyes, Jiang Xia, an art student, had never been very prominent, since he had always been in the art studio until after the art exams when he returned to school to continue his academic studies.

But how did this person manage to win over Lin Yanwan, who was ranked first in the grade, without making a sound?

Chen Yao was also a little dizzy after hearing this.

Good news, Lin Yanwan is in a relationship.

Bad news: My boyfriend is actually my deskmate?

This... is it fake?

This guy only has drawing on his mind, where would he get girls from?

The important question is, how could Lin Yanwan possibly be interested in him?

Even if it's a rumor, please at least make it believable, okay?

However, Chen Yao still gently touched Jiang Xia's hand. After all, one was the goal she had always pursued, and the other was her deskmate. They were related in some way.

Even if this melon isn't sweet, you still have to eat it while it's hot.

She hesitated before asking, "Jiang Xia, everyone's saying you're dating Lin Yanwan?"

"It's fake, nothing like that," he replied without looking up.

After saying that, Jiang Xia couldn't help but mutter to himself, "Are these people just bored and have nothing better to do all day? Morning self-study has only just ended, and they're already spreading rumors. It's really outrageous."

Hearing this, Chen Yao became even more convinced of her idea; it really was just a rumor.

Come to think of it, these two are completely unrelated, they have no connection whatsoever, how could they possibly be dating? And they even make it sound so plausible.

How stupid must someone be to believe such a low-level rumor?

Fortunately, she is quite smart.

...

(The electricity came in a bit late, so here's one chapter for now.)
