Xia Shanshan was preparing her lessons in the study when she heard the door open and knew that the father and son had returned.
Jiang Wende had called her before, saying he was going to pick up his son from school and that he had something important to tell her.
"Mom, I'm back," Jiang Xia called out habitually.
"Are you hungry? Would you like some dumplings, wontons, or noodles?" Xia Shanshan's voice came from the study.
"I'm not hungry. I'm going back to my room to read. Mom and Dad, you should get some rest."
He poured himself a glass of hot water, then went back to his room and gently closed the door.
Jiang Xia lay on the bed, staring at the white ceiling, his mind preoccupied with the conversation he had just had with Jiang Wende.
After the college entrance examination, he and his wife went their separate ways, never to see each other again, and wished each other well.
The question is, can he really sever his relationship with Lin Yanwan?
After twelve years of sharing joys and sorrows, many habits have become ingrained in our souls, and it would be incredibly difficult to forget them.
Suddenly, the image of her calling out "Dad" flashed before my eyes; that scene seemed so familiar.
He was a little confused. Since God had chosen to let them both be reborn, why couldn't they go back to the day they got married?
That year, he was exceptionally talented and full of vigor, while she was beautiful and radiant.
It's a pity that we can never go back.
Looking back on the past, it all boils down to a heavy sigh.
The sole purpose of rebirth is to correct the mistakes of the past, and that failed marriage has indirectly proven to be part of those mistakes as well.
Now that things have come to this, there's no point in reminiscing about the good old days.
Jiang Xia closed his eyes, his breathing becoming long and labored, before getting out of bed, taking out his drawing paper, and burying himself in working on the original drawings of Tom and Jerry.
He wanted to turn his grief and anger into strength so that this classic work could be seen by the world as soon as possible.

Jiang Wende took a bunch of grapes from the refrigerator and went into the study. He quietly took a chair and sat down next to Xia Shanshan, watching her prepare her lesson plan for tomorrow. Her first-grade Chinese textbook was covered with notes.
He would pick a grape every few seconds and hand it to Xia Shanshan. She only needed to open her mouth to eat it, and he would spit the remaining pits into Jiang Wende's hand.
"Weren't you going to tell me about your son? Why aren't you saying anything?" She didn't even look up, continuing to write her explanation in red pen.
"It's okay, you go ahead and do your work. We'll talk when you're done. Open your mouth, ah~"
"It'll be finished soon, and there aren't many things to pay attention to in the first-grade ancient poems... um..."
Before she could finish speaking, Jiang Wende forcibly shoved a grape into her mouth, and Xia Shanshan couldn't help but roll her eyes at him.
"Why write so much when there are no important notes? Besides, you've taught many first-grade classes, and the textbooks are all the same to me. Why do you write it yourself every semester?"
As soon as Xia Shanshan swallowed, Jiang Wende immediately fed her another one.
"Of course, children don't need to know that much. Many of the explanations were actually written for my own reference, because only when teachers know enough can they explain things to children in detail."
She chewed on a grape as she wrote the last paragraph of her notes, and then slowly closed the pen cap.
"Alright, that's enough for today."
Xia Shanshan closed the book and neatly placed it aside: "Tell me, what's wrong with my son?"
“Based on my observation, your son is very likely already in a relationship,” Jiang Wende said seriously.
She frowned; her son hadn't really not told her last night.
"What happened?"
"I saw him near Jinxiu Huacheng at noon today. He was with a girl, and if I'm not mistaken, they had just come from her house. When I went to pick him up from school just now, I saw him with that girl again. I offered to take her home, and guess what she said to me?"
"A tactful refusal?" Xia Shanshan asked, puzzled.
She said, "Thank you, Dad!"
Jiang Wende took a deep breath, still finding it absurd when he thought about it: "You have no idea, I was stunned at the time, I thought I had a daughter."
Xia Shanshan's brows gradually furrowed into a deep frown.
"What about Xiaxia? Did you ask him about the specifics? What did he say?"
"What else can I say? I insist that we were just classmates, not dating, just ordinary friends." Jiang Wende sighed and continued, "I talked to him a lot about puppy love later, but I don't know if he listened."
"Is the girl the one he took home last night?"
"right."
"You've had a good look, haven't you? What do you think of that girl?"
"She's quite pretty, and her name seems to be Lin Yanwan. She's also academically excellent, ranking first in the entire grade. Logically speaking, such an outstanding student should be focused on the college entrance examination. How could she possibly be dating your son at this crucial juncture?" Jiang Wende was very puzzled.
"What do you mean 'my son'? Isn't he your son?" Xia Shanshan glared at him. "Doesn't this just prove that my son is outstanding enough to attract such a good girl?"
Jiang Wende said awkwardly, "Anyway, that's all I know. That kid has always listened to you since he was little, and you're better at raising children than I am. Why don't you go and talk to him when you have some free time?"
"Um."
Xia Shanshan nodded gently.
"I'm not eating anymore. You can finish the rest of the grapes yourself. I'm going to take a shower first. I'm exhausted after driving all day."
Jiang Wende left the study, leaving Xia Shanshan alone to ponder her son's early romance. She tapped her fingers lightly on the table, considering all the possibilities.
After a long while, she left the study and gently knocked on Jiang Xia's door.
"Xiaxia, Mom wants to ask you something. Can I come in?"
