Chapter 50 Dubbing Results

Ji Wanqiu looked down at the doormat and found a pair of unfamiliar boys' sneakers out of nowhere.

Have we had guests at home?

"Mom, you're finally back! Xiaoman missed you so much!" Lin Xiaoman ran out of the house and excitedly hugged her mother's leg.

"Mmm, Mommy misses Xiaoman too." Ji Wanqiu patted Lin Xiaoman's head and asked, "Xiaoman, are we having guests?"

"It's Brother Jiangxia!" Xiaoman giggled.

As they were talking, Jiang Xia came out of Lin Yanwan's boudoir, looking inexplicably embarrassed. He had originally planned to leave before his mother-in-law returned, but he was so focused on editing the video that he forgot the time.

"Hello, Aunt Ji." He scratched his head.

Seeing the boy walk out of her daughter's room, Ji Wanqiu's heart skipped a beat. Although she had agreed to let him come over to play a couple of days ago, wasn't this progress a little too fast?

Yanwan is the same; who brings their boyfriend home right after starting a relationship?

"Hello." She nodded slightly. "Xia, are you here to see Yanwan?"

"Mom, Brother Jiang Xia came to see me! He taught me how to draw a big dog, look!" Lin Xiaoman held up the drawing paper, her face beaming with a bright smile.

Jiang Xia could only nod awkwardly, never expecting that he would have his sister-in-law come to his rescue one day.

Ji Wanqiu glanced at the painting and felt much more at ease. It was alright; they hadn't just focused on their own time together and had taken Xiaoman out to play.

"You haven't eaten yet, have you? Why don't you eat first and then go to school with Yanwan?"

"I can't accept this, Auntie, let me help you." Jiang Xia put on a smile.

Hearing this, Lin Yanwan silently turned her head away. Could this guy be any more shameless? He says he's sorry, but he's secretly overjoyed, isn't he?

Ji Wanqiu's expression also froze. This young man was not playing by the rules. Under normal circumstances, shouldn't they have declined each other a few times and then tactfully agreed?

A person with thin skin would be even more likely to slip away quietly when she's not looking; it seems like he was just waiting for her to say that.

Moreover, as an elder, Ji Wanqiu could not possibly let a junior do her bidding, so she could only say, "No need, no need, you can just play with Xiaoman outside."

Having finally gotten a chance to impress his mother-in-law, Jiang Xia naturally refused with righteous indignation.

"Auntie, please don't be so polite with me. You've had a long day at work, so let me take care of these little things."

Seeing his attentiveness, Ji Wanqiu inexplicably thought of a saying: "The old drunkard's heart is not in the wine, but in the scenery of mountains and rivers."

Even though I knew what he was really thinking, it still sounded nice.

He just wants to make a good impression on his future mother-in-law, so let's grant his wish.

"Alright then, Xia, could you help me peel these potatoes, and this cabbage too..."

"no problem."

Watching the two walk into the kitchen, Lin Yanwan couldn't help but widen her eyes. She was so quick to seize opportunities; she didn't respect anyone else, so she helped Jiang Xia.

At least if the roles were reversed, she wouldn't be able to remain so calm in front of Xia Shanshan.

Hmph, it's not like that anymore. If someone's being overly attentive for no reason, they're either up to no good or have ulterior motives.

She suddenly realized who the object of her adultery and theft was, and her face inexplicably flushed.

A little while later, Jiang Xia came out of the kitchen in high spirits. He had just had a pleasant conversation with his mother-in-law and answered all her questions fluently.

Seeing how sensible he was, Ji Wanqiu's impression of him improved dramatically. Of course, his own excellence was also a plus.

These days, there aren't many people who have the courage to meet their parents while still a student, let alone someone like Jiang Xia, who acts like a pre-arranged son-in-law, being unusually attentive.

"What are you laughing at?" Lin Yanwan glanced at him.

"I wasn't laughing at anything. I was just happy to help my mom with something, since it's not easy for me to do it."

Jiang Xia sat down next to her: "So, have you figured it out yet?"

"Hmm, I have a general idea. You watch the video, and I'll play it for you."

She clicked to play the video, and before the image even appeared, Lin Yanwan pressed a series of light, cheerful notes. Jiang Xia seemed to see Jerry running away in a panic.

Then the scene unfolds, and the sound effects change accordingly, perfectly capturing Tom's carefree nature. Next, Jerry escapes from Tom's grasp, mistakenly believing that the mouse hole Tom drew in ink on the wall is his own home, and ends up bumping into it and getting dizzy.

This 30-second scene was perfectly expressed by the various instrumental sound effects simulated by Lin Yanwan using a piano.

Without a doubt, the silent version of Tom and Jerry and the version with sound are two different works. It is precisely because of the perfect sound effects that Tom and Jerry has become a classic masterpiece.

As the last note faded, Jiang Xia's eyes lit up; the voice acting for Tom and Jerry was no longer an issue.

"How does it feel? Does it meet your expectations?" Lin Yanwan turned to look at him.

"able!"

Jiang Xia nodded vigorously: "This effect is already much, much better than I expected. You really are a good baby. You are as good as a whole band by yourself."

Lin Yanwan glanced subconsciously into the kitchen, afraid that Ji Wanqiu would hear her say "baby".

"My mom's back, be careful."

"Hehe, don't worry, I speak softly, Mom won't hear me." Jiang Xia chuckled.

She was somewhat helpless; how could this guy possibly listen to her on something like this?

"Actually, there are still many areas for improvement. Some shots would be better if several instruments were played together, but right now we can only use a piano to cover it up."

Jiang Xia waved his hand and looked into her eyes seriously, saying, "I don't know anything about voice acting, baby. If I were to entrust you with all the voice acting for Tom and Jerry from now on, could you do it well?"

"all?"

"I should say that this is only for now. I will definitely find a more professional dubbing team to complete it when I have more funds in the future, but right now I don't have anything, so I'll keep things simple."

Lin Yanwan let out a soft breath and nodded in agreement.

"I can't guarantee what will happen later, but there shouldn't be any problems for now. Send me the finished first episode when it's ready, and I'll try my best to make it perfect."

Jiang Xia breathed a sigh of relief. He could handle the animation effects, but he really didn't know where to start with the voice acting. Now that his wife could solve it, she was a great help.

"I love you to death, baby."

Lin Yanwan gently pinched his thigh: "Shut up."

Jiang Xia chuckled: "I just don't understand, how did you manage to simulate so many different sound effects with the piano?"

Lin Yanwan gently shook her head: "This is nothing. I was fortunate enough to meet a senior who used the pipa to simulate 18 different musical instruments. I am still a long way off."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Xia secretly clicked his tongue in amazement. That skill could already be described as divine.

...

(On the third day after my family member tested positive, I had an itchy throat, started coughing, and felt weak in my limbs. I guess I had already caught it.)
