Chapter 66 Me and the Story

"Have you brought your pen, admission ticket, ID card, 2B pencils, eraser, ruler, etc.?" Xia Shanshan reminded him several times early in the morning.

"Yes, I brought it."

"Check it again. Also, bring a few extra pens, just in case."

"I've checked it five, six, seven, or eight times already." Jiang Xia said helplessly, "Mom, it's my exam, why are you more anxious than I am?"

Xia Shanshan's eye twitched. How could she not be anxious when it concerned her son's future?

"Now that the inspection is complete, eat this bowl of noodles."

She brought over a bowl of noodles, not much, maybe an ounce, but topped with a sausage and two eggs, symbolizing a perfect score on the exam.

Looking back, Jiang Xia couldn't help but feel touched that Xia Shanshan had always prepared a "guaranteed perfect score" answer sheet for him before every exam since he was a child.

If this were in later generations, there would probably be a lot of articles about metaphysics being forwarded.

"Mom, although... the college entrance exam is out of 150, and the humanities section is out of 300. You only got 100 points, which is a bit unlucky."

Xia Shanshan glared at him: "Pah, pah, pah, what nonsense are you talking about? 100 is a figurative number, it means you will pass every exam."

"Mom, I know, I just saw you were too nervous and wanted to lighten the mood," Jiang Xia chuckled.

"Eat quickly, then your dad will take you to school. Do well on your exams."

After finishing a bowl of noodles filled with maternal love, Jiang Xia patted her stomach contentedly, grabbed her exam bag, and went out with Jiang Wende.

I listened to my father's nagging again on the way. After arriving at the school, I saw that several teaching buildings were surrounded by isolation barriers.

The exam hasn't started yet, so candidates are spending their time on external platforms, with many cramming with their study materials at the last minute.

Jiang Xia found his wife in the crowd with his phone. They were both in the same school, but in different exam rooms.

Lin Yanwan wore a full bun, a clean white printed T-shirt, and light blue jogger jeans, which made her legs look thin and straight.

"Baby, you look great today," Jiang Xia said with a smile.

I went to bed early last night.

Lin Yanwan tidied his hair and took out a golden lucky charm from her pocket and handed it to him.

"I've been carrying it with me for the past two days."

Jiang Xia held it in her hand and examined it carefully. The words "May you pass every exam" were embroidered on it with red silk thread, and it was clear that she had embroidered it herself.

"Waaah, my wife is so good, let me hug you."

"Don't be crazy, so many people are watching." Lin Yanwan rolled her eyes at him, but still hugged him.

"I heard from Wang Ming that you've been editing videos these past few days?"

He nodded slightly: "Episode 10 is finished and we're just waiting for you to do the voice-over. But this job isn't urgent for now. We'll talk about it after the exams are over."

"Don't get carried away," Lin Yanwan reminded her.

"Don't worry, the knowledge is all in your head," Jiang Xia said softly. "You should still remember your college entrance exam essay from back then, right?"

“I remember, I even prepared a few.” She bit her lip. “But, in this parallel world, will the topics be the same as back then?”

"Maybe so, it's never a bad thing to prepare more." His smile was meaningful.

At 8 a.m., a teacher removed the isolation tape, and the candidates filed in one after another to their respective examination rooms.

"Baby, keep going!"

"The same to you."

Jiang Xia blinked: "Actually, nothing is luckier than a lucky kiss."

"??"

She knew this shameless guy would definitely make some outrageous demands.

"If you're shy, I can kiss you too."

Taking advantage of his wife's inattention, Jiang Xia suddenly leaned down, kissed her on the face, and ran away.

Watching his retreating figure, Lin Yanwan gritted her teeth in anger. Then she raised her hand and touched the spot where she had just been kissed, a shy blush slowly appearing on her face. She turned and walked to the other side of the teaching building.

At 9 a.m., the first Chinese exam began. The invigilator announced the exam rules, including prohibition of cheating, and then opened the sealed bag to distribute the exam papers.

Jiang Xia sat in the middle seat by the window. After receiving the Chinese exam paper, he immediately glanced at the essay topic and discovered that it was indeed the college entrance examination question from that year.

Although I have no recollection of the other questions, I prepared for the Chinese composition for a long time.

He confidently began answering the questions, channeling all his accumulated knowledge from both lifetimes into the correct answers he wrote. He barely paused throughout the process, finishing in less than an hour, leaving only the essay section.

Jiang Xia stopped writing and looked out the window. The June sun was already scorching, and sunlight streamed through the window, casting long shadows on half of the examinees.

He couldn't help but think of his wife's seat number; if she were in this classroom, she should be right next to him.

I suppose she's almost done by now?

A faint smile appeared in Jiang Xia's eyes. He snapped out of his reverie and picked up his pen again to look at the final essay.

Life is full of stories. Perhaps you are a participant in a story, a listener, or a commentator… Stories move you, stories enlighten you; you think through stories, you grow through stories. Please write an essay entitled "Me and Stories".

Having lived two lives, she experienced everything from falling in love to divorce, from starting a business to failing, from the unexpected death of a close friend to the grief of outliving her parents, and finally, a miraculous rebirth.

His story could go on for ten days and ten nights and still not be finished.

After glancing at the lucky charm embroidered by Lin Yanwan on the table, Jiang Xia began to write after only a moment's thought. There were no overly ornate words, only sincere expressions of his feelings, each word a gem.
