Chapter 76 Daughter-in-law

The afternoon in June was scorching hot, and the streets were filled with the heat, making the space seem distorted.

Lin Yanwan held up a parasol, while Jiang Xia walked in the sun without a care in the world.

According to him, men should have slightly darker skin to look more masculine.

Of course, Lin Yanwan didn't believe this at all. When they were taking their wedding photos, who was it that kept telling the photo editor that they wanted their skin to look whiter?

Arriving at school, Jiang Xia mingled among the many parents picking up their children. The sun had been blazing down on him the whole way, so he now had to hide under an umbrella.

Anyway, he had already shown his face to his mother when he picked up his sister-in-law last time, so he's now completely oblivious to everything else and just lies there like a dead pig that's not afraid of boiling water.

"Didn't you want to be more masculine?" Lin Yanwan teased.

"That's enough, that's enough. See that? Wheat-colored skin, the healthiest color." Jiang Xia sculpted his muscles in front of her, but the part covered by his short-sleeved shirt was still fair.

She couldn't help but chuckle: "This is the first time I've heard that health comes from sun exposure, and besides, your tan isn't even that even."

Jiang Xia couldn't argue with her, so she muttered, "Next time I'll just take off my clothes and lie outside all afternoon."

"And then Louis Koo goes from fair-skinned to dark-skinned? And then when taking wedding photos, he begs the photo editor to whiten him again?" Lin Yanwan snorted.

He ripped his skin hard, and the memories of his dead body suddenly began to attack him.

When my wife wore her wedding dress, her exposed skin was fair and smooth, making her look like a fairy from heaven. He, on the other hand, had a traditional tan. It didn't seem like a problem usually, but when we took our wedding photos, the two of us looked several shades different, which made us look a bit strange.

"I suddenly feel that it's better to be a little fairer," he said earnestly.

At least, he's a good match for her because she's beautiful.

"Your arms are tired from holding it up, you take the umbrella."

Lin Yanwan wrinkled her nose, and Jiang Xia skillfully took the umbrella, then forcibly adjusted its direction.

"It's afternoon now, the sunlight is at an angle..."

“So you should hold the umbrella at an angle, I know.” Before his wife could finish speaking, Jiang Xia interrupted, “You’ve been saying that for over ten years.”

"But you still can't remember!"

"I just need time to sense the direction of the sunlight," Jiang Xia said earnestly.

Hmph, I'll reluctantly believe him.

Lin Yanwan took out some tissues from her purse, raised her hand and wiped his forehead. He had been walking under the sun and had sweated a lot.

Jiang Xia squinted, enjoying his wife's tenderness. He caught a faint fragrance with his breath, unsure whether it was the scent of the tissue or his wife's natural body odor.

He suddenly lowered his head and sniffed at his wife's neck, and immediately confirmed it.

"What's wrong? Do you smell of sweat?" Lin Yanwan looked at him with a puzzled expression. Strictly speaking, she hadn't sweated at all today, and she even showers every day.

"It smells so good, I want to smell it again," Jiang Xia said with a look of pure delight.

"Be serious, there are so many people watching!" Lin Yanwan blushed and pinched him lightly, annoyed. He's always so flirtatious and never behaves properly.

Not long after, the school's loudspeaker played the dismissal music. Jiang Xia couldn't help but recall the past. When he was in elementary school, he also heard this soothing tune. He was surprised that it hadn't changed after all these years.

"Which primary school did you attend?" he asked.

"One small."

"I was wondering why I'd never seen you when I was little."

"If we were childhood sweethearts, there's a very high chance I wouldn't like you," Lin Yanwan said seriously.

"Why?"

"Because rabbits don't eat the grass near their burrows." She smiled slightly, her eyes full of laughter.

“I’m not a blade of grass, I’m a carrot!” Jiang Xia retorted.

"The main reason is that we know each other too well, so we don't have any other thoughts."

"Isn't it a case of being in a good position to get the moon first?"

"Fine, fine, you're right, okay?"

Lin Yanwan rolled her eyes. It was as if they were born to be together. If he was so capable, why did he always try to drive her away in her past life?

All you do is offer hindsight advice.

A short while later, Xia Shanshan led her class to the school gate. Lin Xiaoman stood at the front of the line holding up the class sign and immediately spotted the two of them in the crowd.

"Sister, brother-in-law, I'm here!" Lin Xiaoman shouted happily.

Xia Shanshan was stunned. Following her gaze, she saw Jiang Xia and Lin Yanwan standing there sharing an umbrella.

Xiaoman calling Lin Yanwan "sister" is correct, but this "brother-in-law"... is calling her his own son?! In a while, should he start calling her "aunt"?

Hearing that sweet "brother-in-law," Jiang Xia froze on the spot. He could even see his mother's astonished face.

"Serves you right! You taught her all that wrong, now you're paying the price!" Lin Yanwan's face flushed red, and she suddenly didn't dare to look at her mother-in-law.

"Go pick them up quickly." She lightly kicked Jiang Xia.

He forced himself to walk over, first forcing a smile and calling out "Mom," then squatting down and playfully pinching his sister-in-law's nose.

"You're calling me that again. He's my brother, not my brother-in-law."

"Huh? But didn't my brother-in-law say before that I can only call him 'brother' in front of Mom and Dad, and 'brother-in-law' in public?" Lin Xiaoman blinked her questioning eyes.

Hearing "brother-in-law" repeatedly, Jiang Xia was completely dumbfounded. His sister-in-law honestly confessed everything and now dared not look up at her mother's face.

Xia Shanshan looked at the two of them expressionlessly. She hadn't expected them to be so clever. She wanted to see what other tricks this little rascal could pull.

"Oh! Xiaoman understands! Because Teacher Xia is my brother-in-law's mother, Xiaoman can't call him brother-in-law right now, she can only call him brother!"

Lin Xiaoman put her hands on her hips, tilted her head slightly, and struck a pose that seemed to say, "Isn't Xiaoman smart? Brother-in-law, why don't you praise me?"

Jiang Xia was truly speechless with frustration. "You're so clever!" he thought, not knowing how to praise her.

Anyway, admitting it is wrong, and denying it is also wrong. Knowing his mother's mind, she probably saw through his little trick long ago.

Upon hearing that self-proclaimed clever remark, Lin Yanwan wanted to turn around and leave immediately. That was her mother-in-law from her previous life! Although the two hadn't had much interaction in this life, those few words likely meant that she already considered her daughter-in-law.

She took a few deep breaths, clenched her fingers, and walked over with a forced smile, saying, "Hello, Auntie, I'm here to pick up Xiaoman from school."

Seeing her beautiful, outstanding, and pleasing daughter-in-law greet her, Xia Shanshan immediately put on a big smile: "Hello Yanwan, you and your sister must be careful on your way back, okay?"

"Uh-huh."

"Go on, goodbye Xiaoman, remember to finish your homework."

Goodbye, Teacher Xia.

After saying that, Lin Yanwan grabbed Xiaoman and immediately turned to leave, not wanting to stay there for even half a second longer, her palms sweating with nervousness.

"Sister, aren't you waiting for brother-in-law? No, aren't you waiting for brother?"

Xiaoman asked innocently.
