Chapter 8 Xia Shanshan

As dawn broke outside the window, Jiang Xia stretched wearily.

It's true that youth is a blessing. I watched anime all night, and although my body felt a little heavy, my mind was still sharp, and I wasn't sleepy at all.

He closed his eyes, trying to process the results of the night's work.

The action-packed manga has a style reminiscent of Hong Kong comics from the past, while the slice-of-life romance anime has the heaviness of Korean comics. The children's anime are truly for children, with an unchanging chibi style.

This further solidified his belief that he was determined to transform the world's animation industry.

Jiang Xia let out a long breath, slowly opened her eyes, and reached out to pat Wang Ming's face, who was sleeping on the table.

"Boss Wang, wake up, it's dawn."

Wang Ming struggled to open his eyes; the side of his face that had been resting on his arm was covered in marks. He shook his head vigorously and rubbed his face before he finally felt a little more awake.

He stared at Jiang Xia for a moment; his handsome face showed no sign of greasiness.

"Old Jiang, did you watch movies all night?"

"Yeah, more or less." Jiang Xia nodded.

"Wow, I couldn't stay awake any longer in the middle of the night, so I have to go home and catch up on some sleep." He yawned again as he spoke, looking like he hadn't had enough sleep.

"Let's go, it's getting late, let's all go home."

Jiang Xia glanced at the time; it was just past 7 a.m., and it was about time to go home.

Thinking of his parents, he suddenly wanted to rush back and hug them.

The two parted ways at the entrance of the internet cafe, and Jiang Xia hailed a taxi on the roadside, heading straight back to his old neighborhood. He took a deep breath, trying his best to suppress his nervousness, but his body still trembled slightly.

As Jiang Xia climbed the stairs to the third floor, looking at the familiar security door with an upside-down "Fu" (福, meaning good fortune) sticker, he slowly took out his key from his pocket, but his hands trembled so much that he couldn't insert it into the keyhole.

Those two people in my memory, I really... really miss them so much.

However, the door suddenly opened the next second.

Upon seeing her son, Xia Shanshan was momentarily stunned, but before she could speak, Jiang Xia hugged her tightly.

"Hey! What are you doing? I'm carrying the trash. Let go of it now, or you'll get your clothes dirty."

Jiangxia ignored him and instead hugged him even tighter.

"I'll count to three. If you don't let go, I'm going to beat you up!"

"It's settled then!"

"???"

Xia Shanshan raised her hand as if to hit him, but Jiang Xia chuckled and reluctantly let go, only to look at his mother with slightly red eyes.

"Mom, don't hit me, I was just joking. It's just that I haven't seen you in so long and I missed you."

"Get out of here."

Xia Shanshan glared at him, annoyed: "You're out of pocket money again, aren't you? But let me tell you, this trick won't work."

"No, no, Mom, I'm serious. You look even younger and more beautiful than before," Jiang Xia said earnestly.

"Stop talking nonsense! Want to get beaten up? Hurry up and come inside. Have you had breakfast yet? If not, I'll throw out the trash and cook you some noodles."

"Take out the trash." Jiang Xia quickly took the trash and chuckled, "Mom, I'm actually hungry. I'd like to eat your tomato and egg noodles, is that okay?"

"Are you sure? Okay."

Watching Jiang Xia run downstairs in a few steps, Xia Shanshan frowned, feeling that something was off. Was this kid being a little too attentive today?

Could it be that he did something wrong at school and is trying to get leniency?

No, I'll have to ask him later.

Jiang Xia ran downstairs in one breath, and when Xia Shanshan couldn't see her at all, she couldn't help but feel a lump in her throat. She had almost burst into tears.

Mom, it's so good to see you again.

After calming himself down, he buried all the sad and painful memories of his past life deep in his heart. No matter what, he had been reborn, and naturally he would not let the tragedy of his past life happen again.

He is determined to repay his parents well in this lifetime.

Jiang Xia returned home happily, and the aroma of scrambled eggs with tomatoes greeted him as soon as he opened the door. Watching Xia Shanshan busy in the kitchen wearing an apron, Jiang Xia closed his eyes; he had been craving this dish for years.

He used to eat it every day until he got tired of it, but when he could no longer eat it, he started to crave it again. Although Lin Yanwan often made it for him, he always felt that it was missing something.

Looking back now, it wasn't that the taste was worse, but rather that the person cooking the noodles had changed.

He rubbed his face to snap out of his reverie and looked around the house. The familiar furnishings, the certificates on the wall, the digital clock on the television, and the row of flowers and plants on the balcony outside.

Everything was exactly the same as I remembered.

He touched this and that, his eyes filled with nostalgia.

A moment later, Xia Shanshan came out with a steaming bowl of noodles: "What are you still standing there for? Go wash your hands!"

"Okay, sure."

After washing her hands, Jiang Xia came out and saw the tomato and egg noodles on the table. Her nose tingled with emotion, and she picked up her chopsticks and began to eat heartily, almost bursting into tears.

"Slow down, slow down. No one's going to take it from you. I'm starting to wonder if you're not eating on time at school."

"Mom's cooking is so delicious." Jiang Xia picked up the bowl, took a sip of soup, and calmed herself down.

Xia Shanshan laughed: "Didn't you always say you were tired of eating this every day?"

"Who said that? It's the most delicious soup in the world!" Jiang Xia drank the soup broth clean in one go before wiping his mouth with a tissue, still feeling unsatisfied.

Xia Shanshan beamed with joy. What woman doesn't love to hear her family praise her cooking skills?

"Mom, where's Dad?"

"He left early this morning, he's probably driving right now. What's up, do you need to talk to your dad?" Xia Shanshan could tell from his hesitant expression that something was on his mind.
