Chapter 511 I'm leaving to pursue my dreams
The practice banquet was held at a home-cooked restaurant in the old city.
Shen Hanxing had arrived a long time ago and sat by the window. On the table was a plate of freshly fried crispy pork and next to it were Han Lingcui's favorite shepherd's purse wontons.
There were dried shrimps floating in the soup base, sprinkled with chopped green onions, and the hot steam created a thin layer of mist on the glass windows.
"I just asked the boss, the wonton wrappers are hand-rolled, just as tough as the ones you used to make for Xunxun."
Shen Hanxing pushed the chopsticks over and touched Han Lingcui's passport on the edge of the table with his fingertips.
"I've confirmed your flight tickets. They're leaving at 10 a.m. tomorrow, so there's plenty of time for your layover. Don't worry."
She paused and pulled out a manila envelope from her bag. "Inside it is some rental information I looked up around the design school, as well as the contact information of several Chinese designers. If you don't feel comfortable when you first arrive, feel free to contact them."
Han Lingcui held the envelope, and when her fingertips touched the neatly folded pages inside, her eyes suddenly became red.
"Han Xing," Han Lingcui's voice was a little hoarse. "Actually, I was always afraid before. I was afraid that I couldn't hold on, and I was afraid of Xunxun..."
"I'm not afraid now."
Chen Hanxing interrupted her and put a wonton into her bowl. "Look, Xunxun is fine. Jiang Shutong got the punishment she deserved. You can finally do what you want to do. That's enough."
When she looked up, she saw Xunxun running in from the door, her short legs moving very fast, holding a dinosaur toy in her arms, and Xuanyuan Ge following behind her.
Xunxun ran to the table, but instead of jumping into Han Lingcui's arms as usual, she stood there, her little hands tightly grasping the dinosaur's tail, her eyes fixed on Han Lingcui's face, as if she had something to say, but was a little timid.
Han Lingcui put down his chopsticks, squatted down, and looked him in the eye.
"What's wrong? Don't you like crispy pork?"
The child shook his head, his nose twitched slightly, then he slowly raised his hand and carefully placed his little palm on Han Lingcui's cheek.
There was still a faint red mark there, left by Jiang Shutong last time.
"I know everything. I couldn't admit it before, but now I still want to..."
for a long time
He continued.
"I want to call you mom."
Han Lingcui's heart suddenly sank and tears welled up in an instant.
"Xunxun..." She choked, reached out and held the child in her arms, resting her chin on the top of his soft head, and could smell the faint scent of milk soap on his hair.
"It's mom. Mom didn't protect you well before."
"I know Mom has tried very hard."
Xunxun put her little hands around her neck, buried her face in the crook of her neck, and spoke in a muffled voice.
Han Lingcui's tears fell on the child's clothes, leaving a small wet mark.
"Mom is here, and she will always be here."
Shen Hanxing sat at the table, looking at the mother and son hugging each other, quietly turned her face away, and wiped the corners of her eyes with a tissue.
Xuanyuan Ge stood at the door, not coming in. He just looked at the scene inside quietly through the foggy glass. His fingertips unconsciously clenched the door handle, then slowly loosened it.
…
The next morning at the airport, sunlight shone through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows onto the smooth floor tiles.
Han Lingcui dragged the suitcase, and the wheels rolled on the ground, making a light "gurgling" sound.
There is a small stuffed doll hanging on the suitcase handle. It was made by Xunxun last night after she stayed up late.
The crooked little wontons had the word "Mom" written on them with a colored pen. The handwriting was childish, but it was carefully wrapped with several layers of transparent tape.
"Check your passport, visa, plane ticket, and the heat pack I gave you. Don't forget anything."
Chen Hanxing helped her straighten her scarf and reminded her, "Remember to report your safety when you get there. If you can't adjust to the jet lag, get more sun during the day."
Han Lingcui smiled and nodded. Just as he was about to speak, he heard a voice coming from behind him.
"Mom! Wait for me!"
She turned around and saw Xuanyuan Ge running towards her holding Xunxun. The child was wearing a small yellow jacket and looked like a little sun. He was holding a thermal bag in his hand.
"Mom, this is for you." Xunxun handed over the thermal bag. "These are wontons that Uncle Xuanyuan and I cooked together. They're still warm on the plane because they're in the thermal bag."
Han Lingcui took the thermal bag, and when his fingertips touched the temperature inside, his heart felt so warm that it hurt.
She squatted down and helped Xunxun tidy up her hair that was messed up by the wind.
"Thank you, Xunxun. Mom will eat when she gets there and send you a video after eating. Okay?"
"Okay!" Xunxun nodded vigorously, then suddenly pulled the corner of her clothes, frowned, and lowered his voice.
"But... Uncle Xuanyuan seems to have something to say."
Han Lingcui paused and looked at Xuanyuan Ge who was standing next to him.
He was wearing a dark grey windbreaker with the collar standing up. The morning light fell on his face, and one could see faint red bloodshot under his eyes.
Seeing Han Lingcui looking at him, Xuanyuan Ge's Adam's apple moved, but he didn't speak directly. He just gently touched Xunxun's head, as if he had given everything he wanted to say to the child.
"Xunxun," Han Lingcui held the child's hand, and the warmth of his palm slowly passed on to him.
"You like playing with blocks, right? Don't you feel especially happy every time you build something high?"
Xunxun nodded: "Yeah! Build it into a castle, just like a place for mom and me to live in."
"It's the same with Mom."
She smiled, her eyes still a little wet but exceptionally bright.
"Mom likes to draw. She likes to draw the houses and clothes in her mind, just like you play with building blocks."
"When I go abroad, I can learn from many talented people and turn my drawings into reality. This is my 'building block castle.'"
Xunxun blinked, seeming to understand, and pointed at Han Lingcui's suitcase with her little finger, "Will Mom come back?"
"Of course."
Han Lingcui picked up the child and kissed him on the cheek. "I'll video chat with you every month and show you the paintings I draw."
"When it snows in the winter, Mom will come back and help you build a snowman and cook you some hot wontons, okay?"
"Okay!" Xunxun smiled now, put his arms around her neck, and kissed her on the face, leaving a faint saliva mark.
Han Lingcui put the child down and turned to Xuanyuan Pavilion.
He looked at her, his eyes filled with complex emotions, including reluctance and regret, but without the previous paranoia, only a calm relief.
"Thank you."
Han Lingcui spoke first, "I didn't expect you to put aside your family ties and stand on our side."
Xuanyuan Ge pulled the corner of his mouth and revealed a very faint smile: "I should be the one to say thank you."
He paused, his eyes falling on the thermal bag in her hand. "Be careful on the road. If...if you encounter anything over there, feel free to contact me."
Han Lingcui nodded and said nothing more. She just waved at them and turned to walk towards the security checkpoint.
She looked back and saw Xunxun standing on tiptoe and waving her hands vigorously. Her yellow coat was particularly conspicuous in the crowd.
Xuanyuan Ge stood behind the child and waved in her direction. The morning light fell on him, as if dispelling all the haze of the past.
Han Lingcui smiled, turned around, and walked into the security check passage step by step.
After passing the security check, you can see the sign for the boarding gate. The sunlight shines in from the huge portholes and spreads on the smooth ground, like a road to the future.
Han Lingcui touched the passport in his pocket. There were still colored pen marks on the cover that Xunxun had accidentally made. He then looked down at the stuffed doll on the suitcase.
Those were the wontons painted by Xunxun. They were crooked but full of love.
