Having received authorization from the person in charge, Huo Chenyu got out of the car with a proud and imposing air.
He grabbed Song Beiye and pulled him aside, making room for Tang Li's car. Tang Li quickly fled. Let men resolve their own issues in their own way.
But the car had only driven one intersection when Huo Chenyu called:
"Why don't you come back and take a look?"
Something felt off about Huo Chenyu's voice.
Tang Li's heart sank. Hadn't Song Beiye just returned to Lucheng?
Why are you in Tanzhou again?
It was at the moment when Song Boying was critically ill again.
Could it be...
Has Song Boying left?
We didn't receive a single word about it beforehand. Could it be another case of keeping the death a secret?
Tang Li quickly made a U-turn at the intersection and returned to the same spot a few minutes later.
Under a large tree by the roadside sat two extremely handsome men.
Tang Li turned off the engine and got out of the car.
As they approached, Song Beiye lowered his head. When Huo Chenyu looked at Tang Li, he pointed at Song Beiye and then at his own eyes.
This implies that Song Beiye is crying.
For a burly man to weep uncontrollably in broad daylight, it must mean that something terrible has happened in his family.
Even when Song Beiyu passed away, Song Beiye wasn't this out of control.
Tang Li wasn't good at comforting people, so when she saw Huo Chenyu stand up, she quickly gestured for him to sit down.
Unexpectedly, Huo Chenyu was quite cowardly. After getting up, he leaned close to her ear and said:
"I haven't said or done anything yet, and he's already crying. I've lived half my life and never seen such a shameless man."
She cried?
It seems like things are quite serious.
Tang Li was somewhat flustered:
"Why don't you ask him what happened?"
Huo Chenyu sighed, then grinned mischievously and whispered in Tang Li's ear:
“You have to eat one bite at a time, and do things one step at a time. My dear ex-wife, I’ll go and deal with Song Nanzhou for you first, and then I’ll deal with Song Beiye another day. You can handle this guy yourself for now, and I’ll clean up the mess in a couple of days.”
This is unbelievable!
That bastard talks a better game than he sings.
It just proves the saying, "Ex-wives are birds of a feather," and he'll run away first when things go wrong.
"Huo Chenyu, you son of a bitch!"
Tang Li used lip reading to curse him!
But Huo Chenyu hailed a taxi, got in, and fled.
Left with no other choice, Tang Li sat down in the seat Huo Chenyu had previously occupied, and pulled a crumpled napkin from her pocket to hand it to him.
"I used this paper to wipe my lipstick before. If you don't mind, you can use it for now?"
Song Beiye didn't look up, but asked:
"Your persistent ex-husband is gone?"
Tang Li glanced in the direction the taxi had driven off and nodded.
"Yes, he has something to do and needs to go ahead."
"It's good that you're gone!"
Song Beiye raised his head and let out a long sigh.
Tang Li turned her gaze away and met his eyes:
"You...you...you lied to him?"
He seemed to be in good spirits, with a sly grin on his face.
This doesn't seem like a family tragedy at all.
Tang Li felt relieved, but she was still puzzled:
Why would you lie to him for no reason? He was worried about you and even called me, afraid that something might have happened to you. He would feel bad if he knew this.
Song Beiye turned his head to look at her:
"You'll feel sad if he's not feeling well?"
Tang Li lowered his head:
“We’re just divorced, not enemies from different families. We usually sympathize with strangers who suffer misfortune online, let alone a man I once loved deeply.”
Song Beiye really wanted to reply to her, "I'm afraid he's more than just someone you once deeply loved."
It's still the man you love deeply now.
However, it was indeed him who cheated.
He admitted his mistake:
"I'll treat him to a meal another day to apologize."
Tang Li looked at him:
"Then why did you do that?"
Song Beiye pointed at Tang Li:
"If we don't do this, will he leave? Will you go back?"
In that case, Tang Li looked around:
"You need something from me? How about we talk somewhere else?"
Sitting under this big tree always feels a bit strange.
Song Beiye nodded in agreement:
There's a coffee shop at the intersection ahead. I'll treat you to coffee.
It seems he really needs to talk to her.
Tang gave him a ride, and after finding a private seat, she remembered to ask:
"That's strange. How do you all know where I am? Could you have installed a tracker on my phone?"
Song Beiye clarified:
"I don't know how your ex-husband knew you were there, but I only found out you went to Nanzhou's house after seeing the photo of you with the famous writer. Coincidentally, he and Xiaoyu are close friends despite their age difference, and I have his WeChat."
Tang Li was instantly curious:
"My idol posted a photo of me and him? What did he say on his WeChat Moments?"
Song Beiye readily took out his phone to show her:
He said you are a young man who combines talent and beauty, truly formidable!
Tang Li was overjoyed to receive praise from her idol.
After a moment of joy, Tang Li returned to the original topic:
"You just returned to Lucheng, why did you turn back to Tanzhou? You didn't come here specifically to see me, did you?"
Song Beiye's smile slowly disappeared, replaced by a slightly solemn face.
"My dad is critically ill."
He began to speak.
Tang Li hesitated for several seconds before replying:
"I saw the news."
"You must be very curious, right? At this critical juncture, as my father's only remaining son, I should be in the hospital taking care of him."
