Huo Chenyu woke up shortly after being taken to the hospital and was fine.
He fainted because he should have been resting, but he insisted on torturing himself, causing himself so much pain that he fainted.
Xi Leng sat by the hospital bedside, feeding him water, sobbing and crying:
"Who on earth is so cruel as to treat you so brutally?"
Huo Chenyu turned his head away, enduring the pain, and handed her a tissue:
"I'm not dead, don't worry, I won't tell Teacher Xi on you."
Xi Leng burst into laughter through his tears:
"Don't bother Teacher Xi. It'll be at least sixty or seventy years before she wants to see you again. Just live well. Besides, what can I possibly accuse you of?"
Huo Chenyu looked at her:
"Before my mother passed away, she repeatedly told me to treat you like my own sister. Over the years, you were adopted by the Song family and lived abroad. I saw that you were always striving to be the best and were very competitive. I thought you were finally able to stand on your own. I never expected that you would turn out like this after returning to China."
Xi Ling lowered her head, tears welling up in her eyes:
"You mean I disappointed you?"
Huo Chenyu stated frankly:
"Shouldn't I be disappointed? A powerful woman who is decisive and efficient abroad returns to China and makes things difficult for someone who has never wronged you. You target her at every turn. Do you want me to live a lonely life?"
He truly still deeply loved that wretched woman.
Xi Leng was seething with anger, but forced himself to speak:
“She treated you like that, and you still can’t forget her. I just can’t stand her. Shenyu, with me here, how could I bear to see you grow old alone? Although Teacher Xi is gone, you still have me. I will always be with you.”
"But I only want her. Everyone else is like dust to me."
Huo Chenyu didn't want to get entangled with her any further.
He had kept to himself and her for years, wanting to give up on her.
Xi Leng raised his head:
Am I as insignificant as dust to you?
Huo Chenyu asked her in return:
"Did I do something to make you feel that I hold a very important place in my heart?"
......
The words were so resolute.
Xi Leng isn't stupid.
She could tell that Huo Chenyu was rejecting her, in an almost heartless way.
Just to protect his beloved.
Xi Leng was stunned for a long time before she smiled through her tears:
"Regardless of whether I hold any weight in your heart, you are the closest and dearest person to me in this world. I promised Teacher Xi that I would love you for a lifetime. You don't need to say these hurtful words to push me away. This time when I return to China, I will never back down again."
Huo Chenyu suggested to her:
"If you still can't let go of that stubbornness in your heart, then work hard to build your career. Even women in the old days knew that they couldn't revolve around men and had to be brave enough to break through the shackles of feudalism. I believe that you have studied abroad for many years and have been exposed to far more new ideas than women who are trapped at home."
This compliment was given to me.
Xi Leng refused:
"There's no point in you saying more. You should just rest. The doctor said you need to rest quietly. I've been hearing your stomach rumbling, so you probably didn't eat enough tonight. I'll go buy you something to eat."
Xi Leng practically fled the ward.
She knew that once she returned to China and stood before him, she would appear humble.
In order to preserve her last shred of dignity, she needs time to recover.
After leaving the ward, Ye Fei had disappeared without a trace. Xi Leng didn't care about her. He took the elevator down to the first floor and had just stepped out of the inpatient department when he heard a scream.
The voice sounded like it came from his assistant. Xi Leng looked in the direction of the sound and saw his assistant lying on the ground, clearly unable to move.
Upon seeing Xiling, the assistant pleaded:
"President Song, save me."
Xi Leng rushed over, squatted down to help him up, and the assistant's screams echoed throughout the night sky.
"Your hand is dislocated and your foot is broken. How did you get like this?"
Xi Leng couldn't help but look up and look around.
The assistant tried to turn around but found that his neck was also injured.
"I've been attacked, Mr. Song, please help me."
Xi Leng shouted for security, who then called for a doctor and nurses. After her assistant was taken inside, she walked out of the hospital. There was a late-night porridge shop in the alley. Halfway there, she heard someone call her from behind:
"Miss Song."
Xi Leng turned around and saw that it was Lu Zhu.
She felt relieved.
"Secretary Lu, it's you? What are you doing here? Is Nanzhou not feeling well?"
Clearly, Xi Leng had no idea that danger was approaching.
She was relatively polite to Lu Zhu because she knew perfectly well that no matter how good an adopted daughter was, she couldn't compare to Song Bocheng's own nephew.
Since Lu Zhu was from Song Nanzhou, she naturally had to give him face.
Lu Zhu approached, scanned Xi Leng from head to toe, and chuckled:
"My young master is fine, but Miss Song might be feeling a little unwell?"
Xi Leng subconsciously touched his face and said embarrassedly:
"Do I look that obvious? Sorry, I just cried."
Lu Zhu reached out his hand to her:
"Since Miss Song has already cried once, she probably won't mind crying again."
Xi Leng blankly offered her hand, only realizing what was happening when she felt a pain in her wrist.
"Lu Zhu, what are you trying to do?"
Lu Zhu grabbed her wrist and lifted it up lightly, causing Xi Leng to scream in pain.
“My young master said that he never hits women.”
Lu Zhu released his grip and struck Xi Leng's shoulder with another palm strike, saying:
