It was He Junshu, who was behind Huo Chenyu, who coughed. Lu Zhixing and Tang Li turned around almost simultaneously. Upon seeing that it was Huo Chenyu, Lu Zhixing quickly turned back around.
"So Mr. Huo is here."
Tang Li understood immediately and echoed:
"Luckily you arrived in time, otherwise we would have gone to the wrong ward."
He Junshu chuckled to himself; in fact, they had been staring at the two of them for half a minute.
These two don't look like they've wandered into the wrong ward; they're clearly there to eavesdrop.
Song Bocheng's voice was quite loud, and Huo Chenyu heard it clearly.
"Looks like you've come to see my deadbeat?" He Junshu couldn't hold back his laughter any longer, and looked them up and down. "I can understand coming empty-handed, but you..."
This isn't a visit to someone in the hospital; it's clearly a public display of affection.
Lu Zhixing teased her even more, hugging Tang Li even tighter, and said:
"I didn't come empty-handed; I brought some treasures that are unique in the world."
Huo Chenyu: Thank you so much.
"That depends on whose treasure it is."
He Junshu joked.
Lu Zhixing, with a smile in his eyes, stared at Huo Chenyu and said:
"This is obvious to anyone with eyes, so there's no need to say it aloud, Mr. Huo. How are you feeling? When can you be discharged from the hospital?"
Huo Chenyu stared straight at Tang Li:
"I'm physically fine, but I'm not feeling well mentally."
Lu Zhixing nodded:
"Since Mr. Huo is not feeling well, we will not disturb him any longer. By the way, Mr. Huo, please remember to treat the symptoms. Seeing other doctors will not help if you are not feeling well; you need to see a psychologist."
He Junshu was laughing so hard he was practically hysterical.
He had known Huo Chenyu for so many years, and Huo Chenyu was always the one who caused others to suffer setbacks. This was the first time he had seen Huo Chenyu so embarrassed.
Huo Chenyu's gaze finally settled on Tang Li's swollen foot:
Have you seen a doctor for this injury? What did the doctor say?
Tang Li glanced at Xi Leng's ward and deliberately lowered his voice to say:
"I'm fine, a little spray will do."
Huo Chenyu frowned:
"That won't do. Your swelling is quite severe. You need to be hospitalized and rest to recover quickly."
After saying that, he pinched He Junshu, who winced in pain.
"You rascal..."
Halfway through his sentence, seeing Huo Chenyu's suggestive glance, He Junshu walked over and snatched Tang Li from Lu Zhixing's hands:
“My brother is right, my sister-in-law needs to rest and recuperate.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Huo Chenyu bared his teeth and grimaced.
Because He Junshu placed Tang Li, whom he had just received, heavily into his arms.
The hug and the subsequent release caught the three of them completely off guard.
Despite the pain, Huo Chenyu did not let go.
He Junshu quickly blocked Lu Zhixing's path:
"Brother, thanks for bringing my sister-in-law to the hospital. I'll treat you to dinner another day."
He was quick-witted; he then reached out, turned the wheelchair around, pushed it into the ward, closed the door, and quickly left the ward with his arm around Lu Zhixing's shoulder.
Just then, Song Bocheng heard the commotion and came out to investigate.
In the hospital ward, Huo Chenyu was in so much pain that he questioned the meaning of life.
Lu Zhu's technique is truly amazing; it hurts terribly everywhere, yet none of the injuries seem serious.
Tang Li saw that he was sweating profusely from the pain and tried to get up, but Huo Chenyu held her tightly.
"Don't move, I'll carry you to bed."
Tang Li's eyes widened:
"With your abilities... I'm afraid you might have the will but not the strength."
For a man, being willing but unable is a derogatory term.
To prove himself, Huo Chenyu endured the excruciating pain that felt like he was being rolled on sharp knives, and carefully placed Tang Li on the bed:
"As long as I have a breath left, I will protect you even at the cost of my life."
Tang Li scoffed:
"Mr. Huo, if you knew this would happen, where were you back then? When you wanted to divorce me, when you wanted to marry Lin Yiyun, when you gave her the status of your fiancée and let her provoke me, your ex-wife, so brazenly, were you deaf, blind, or mute?"
Huo Chenyu looked at her with deep remorse:
"Is this really so hard to get over?"
Tang Li nodded:
"I'll never get over this. Some damage has already been done and it won't be completely erased just because you say sorry or I love you."
Huo Chenyu held her hand:
"Lili, then I should try my best to make it up to you. If this life isn't enough, then the next life, the second half of the life."
After Huo Chenyu finished speaking, Tang Li exclaimed "Ouch!"
In his haste, he immediately asked:
Where does it hurt? Did I bump into you just now?
Tang Li shook his head, covered half of his face with his hand, and said:
"Huo Chenyu, my tooth hurts."
Huo Chenyu took it seriously and examined it carefully:
"Why does your tooth hurt? Is it because you have a sore throat? Or is it because your wisdom tooth is coming in? Or did you bump into something or fall down? I'll bring it to you right away, Dr. Zhao."
As he was about to get up, Tang Li stopped him:
"The cake you gave me was too hard, and I bumped my teeth."
What's the point of talking about the next life or the life after that when it's something that's not even going to happen in this lifetime?
Huo Chenyu breathed a sigh of relief, and then made a statement:
"From the moment I fell in love with you, I was prepared to grow old with you. I made mistakes before, I..."
Tang Li crossed her arms over her chest:
"Stop it, I'm tired of hearing you say these things."
Huo Chenyu immediately stopped.
Tang Li finally softened: "What's wrong with you? A grown man fainting all the time, who are you trying to scare to death?"
Huo Chenyu answered in a low voice:
"I'm fine. I was probably just stressed out at the time."
Tang Li didn't know how to respond to him, so she changed the subject:
