"It's all arranged. Acting deputy captain, you can handle the rest yourself," Vice President Jiang said coldly.
"Thank you, sister-in-law! I knew you were the best!" The voice on the other end of the phone was noticeably more relaxed.
"Alright, I'm hanging up." Vice President Jiang hung up the phone decisively and without any hesitation.
She leaned back in her chair, closed her eyes, and fell into deep thought.
Ye Feng's composure truly impressed her; he was even much better than her good-for-nothing cousin.
But such people are often more difficult to manage.
The door to Director Sun's office was ajar. Ye Feng knocked lightly twice and heard Kong Xiaoyue's clear "Come in" from inside before pushing the door open and entering.
Kong Xiaoyue was sitting at her desk organizing files when she saw Ye Feng come in. She immediately stood up and said reproachfully, "Why did you take so long? I thought you were being held up by Vice President Jiang!"
Ye Feng smiled and said in a relaxed tone, "I talked to Vice President Jiang about some work-related matters, which took a while."
As he spoke, he handed the document to Director Sun.
Director Sun took the document, quickly glanced through it, and frowned slightly: "Acting Deputy Captain? Why is there a 'Acting' in it?"
Upon hearing this, Kong Xiaoyue immediately flew into a rage, slamming her hand on the table: "This is outrageous! Vice President Jiang is absolutely despicable! To offer me an acting position is clearly a deliberate attempt to make things difficult for me!"
Director Sun raised his hand to signal Kong Xiaoyue to calm down, then turned to Ye Feng: "Xiao Ye, is there some misunderstanding here?"
Ye Feng was silent for a moment: "Vice President Jiang wanted me to join her camp, but I refused."
At this point, he had to be honest in order to gain Director Sun's trust.
A glint of shrewdness flashed in Director Sun's eyes: "Oh? She wants to win you over? Then why didn't you agree?"
"I know who is near and who is far." Ye Feng's tone was calm, yet his words were firm and resolute.
His stance was made clear in just a few simple words.
Director Sun gave Ye Feng a deep look, his tone becoming serious: "Xiao Ye, time is of the essence. I hope you can act as soon as possible and find out the company's problems."
"Understood," Ye Feng replied succinctly.
As they saw Ye Feng downstairs, Kong Xiaoyue was still indignant: "Vice President Jiang is really going too far! How can he bully people like this!"
Ye Feng gently patted Kong Xiaoyue's shoulder and comforted her, "Don't worry, Xiaoyue, I'll handle it."
Ye Feng returned to the security department and had just sat down when he heard a sarcastic voice next to him: "Oh, isn't this Ye Feng? You found out about Vice President Jiang's decision so quickly? Your information network is pretty good!"
Ye Feng looked up and saw Li Wei, a colleague from the security department. Li Wei was a gossip and a complete opportunist.
He couldn't be bothered with such a minor character, and simply replied, "What? What's it to you if I'm well-informed?"
Li Wei was taken aback by Ye Feng's retort and was about to argue when he was stopped by a look from the manager.
The manager walked up to Ye Feng with a big smile and patted him on the shoulder: "Little Ye, the personnel department values you a lot. They say they want to train you as a reserve talent!"
Ye Feng sneered inwardly.
These are just empty words.
On the surface, however, he feigned surprise and delight: "Really? Manager, this is truly unexpected!"
"Keep up the good work, I have high hopes for you!" the manager encouraged, then lowered his voice and said, "Vice President Jiang specifically asked me to oversee the new employees, so you'd better perform well!"
Ye Feng cursed inwardly, "Damn it!" This Vice President Jiang really went to great lengths; she wanted him to be her spy!
He didn't want to be polite with the manager anymore, so he gave a perfunctory reply: "Definitely, definitely."
He then got up and went straight to the warehouse.
Just then, a cell phone rang, breaking the silence of the warehouse.
Ye Feng took out his phone.
It's Liu Zhengli.
"Boss, something urgent has come up. I'm getting on a plane to your place right now. If anyone from the Qin family causes you trouble, use your connections instead of trying to handle it all yourself."
Ye Feng frowned slightly.
The Qin family is the largest entertainment group in Yunhai City, with businesses spanning various sectors and influence in both the legitimate and underworld circles.
"I can handle it myself."
"You brat, what are you trying to prove! This isn't simple, don't force yourself!" Liu Zhengfei scolded. "My father can help too, don't suffer for the sake of saving face!"
Ye Feng felt a warmth in his heart.
He knew Liu Zhengfei genuinely cared for him, but he didn't want to involve everyone else.
Some things you have to face on your own.
"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing."
After Ye Feng finished speaking, he hung up the phone.
Ye Feng returned to the security office, where Xu San and Wu Dan were already waiting for him.
"Brother Feng, what did Brother Fei say?" Xu San asked with a worried expression.
"It's nothing, just a small problem," Ye Feng said casually.
He didn't want his brothers to worry.
"A minor problem? Brother Fei is so anxious he's practically flying over here, how could it be a minor problem?" Wu Dan looked unconvinced.
"Alright, stop speculating. Let's discuss how to deal with that manager," Ye Feng changed the subject.
"I think we should start by targeting his financial problems; that old guy must have a lot of money to be made," Xu San suggested.
"Yes, that's one way to start. Also, keep a close eye on him, don't let him turn the tables on you," Ye Feng added.
He must proceed with extreme caution to ensure that nothing goes wrong.
The wall clock pointed to 5:30; it was almost time to get off work.
"Brother Feng, you're starting your new job today, we should at least celebrate, right?" Xu San suggested.
"Sure, where to?" Ye Feng readily agreed.
He needs to relax and also needs a chance to have a good talk with his brothers.
"The usual place, how about it?" Xu San asked.
"Okay." Ye Feng nodded in agreement. "However, I'll be bringing a friend along. Please don't mind."
"Friend? Who is it?" Wu Dan asked curiously.
Ye Feng smiled mysteriously: "You'll find out when the time comes."
Outside the security office, a bright red Land Rover Range Rover came to a steady stop.
The car door opened, and a woman in a black tight-fitting dress stepped out, her long hair flowing like a waterfall and her red lips alluring.
It was Wang Furong.
Xu San was talking to Wu Dan when he heard the noise, looked up, and was immediately stunned.
He rubbed his eyes hard to make sure he wasn't seeing things.
Ye Feng also noticed Xu San's unusual behavior, and following his gaze, the corners of his mouth turned up slightly.
"Old Xu, your eyes are practically glued to the screen."
Wu Dan nudged Xu San with his elbow and teased him.
Xu San then came to his senses and greeted Wang Furong somewhat awkwardly: "Sister Furong, what brings you here?"
Wang Furong walked up to the three of them, her slender eyebrows slightly raised: "Old Xu, what's with that expression? Are you disappointed to see me?"
He secretly groaned inwardly.
Why is this old lady being so sarcastic?
Xu San quickly waved his hand: "No, no, I'm just a little surprised. I didn't expect Brother Feng to be talking about you."
