"It's nothing, just a small favor," Yang Yunqing said, a little embarrassed.
The three chatted for a few more minutes, then Wang Furong checked the time and said, "Xiaofeng, why don't you take Dr. Yang home later? I need to go back to the shop; I have a lot of things to do there."
Ye Feng nodded: "Okay, I'll take you."
Ye Feng walked Wang Furong a short distance away, then Wang Furong seemed to remember something, took out a wad of money from her bag and handed it to Ye Feng.
Ye Feng was taken aback: "What are you doing?"
"Could you take Yun to Dr. Yang for me and ask her to buy some nutritional supplements?" Wang Furong said matter-of-factly. "I owe her so much for today. If it weren't for her, I would have lost even more!"
Ye Feng looked at the money in his hand and joked, "What about my share?"
"Don't give me that, you're not an outsider." Wang Furong laughed and gave Ye Feng a flirtatious push. "Come see me anytime you have time."
Ye Feng stuffed the money back into Wang Furong's hand: "Sister Furong, take this money back. Dr. Yang won't take it."
Wang Furong paused for a moment, then smiled.
"Why are you so stubborn? If Dr. Yang doesn't want money, then buy her something! Dr. Yang helped me so much today, I can't just leave without giving her anything in return." She insisted on stuffing the money back into Ye Feng's hand.
Ye Feng looked at the money in his hand, his brows furrowed.
He knew Yang Yunqing's personality very well; she was proud and aloof and would never accept such "charity".
Wang Furong patted Ye Feng on the shoulder and turned to leave.
Ye Feng sighed and walked to Yang Yunqing's side.
"When did you find a god-sister?" Yang Yunqing teased, but her gaze was somewhat evasive. "She's a nice person."
Ye Feng did not answer her question, but simply said, "I'll take you home."
"No need, I can take a taxi back myself. You go ahead and do your thing," Yang Yunqing politely declined.
Ye Feng shook his head, "Don't be stubborn. You got hurt because of me, and I have to take responsibility for you."
Yang Yunqing wanted to say something more, but looking into Ye Feng's eyes, she finally gave in.
"All right."
Ye Feng helped Yang Yunqing to the door of the changing room: "I'll wait for you here. Go change your clothes."
Yang Yunqing nodded and went into the changing room.
Ye Feng waited quietly outside the door.
A short while later, Yang Yunqing came out after changing her clothes.
Ye Feng helped her and they slowly walked towards the hospital parking lot.
After getting in the car, neither of them spoke for the rest of the journey, and the atmosphere was somewhat awkward.
Yang Yunqing glanced at Ye Feng secretly, then quickly looked away.
She felt her heart beating very fast.
When they arrived at Yang Yunqing's building, Ye Feng took out the wad of money from his pocket.
Upon seeing the money, Yang Yunqing immediately frowned: "What do you mean by this?"
She felt a little uncomfortable.
"This is from Sister Furong, to thank you for your help earlier." Ye Feng handed the money to Yang Yunqing and explained, "She had something to do at the shop, so she left first."
Yang Yunqing glanced at the money in Ye Feng's hand but didn't take it: "No need, I didn't help because of her."
Ye Feng understood this, of course, but felt a bit embarrassed.
He didn't know how to respond and could only stand there stiffly.
Seeing his embarrassed look, Yang Yunqing softened her tone: "What happened last time was my fault."
She paused, then whispered, "I'm sorry."
Ye Feng was stunned.
If it were the old Yang Yunqing, she would never have taken the initiative to admit her mistakes.
But at this moment, she readily apologized. This sudden change left him somewhat bewildered.
At this moment, Yang Yunqing asked Ye Feng, "Can you grant me a request?"
Ye Feng felt a little uneasy. After a moment of silence, he finally spoke: "What are your requirements? Tell me."
Yang Yunqing mustered her courage: "Can we be friends? Just a little bit better than ordinary friends."
Ye Feng was stunned.
Friends? He had never considered that question.
He and Yang Yunqing were once lovers, so the term "friends" seems a bit abrupt now.
Therefore, he never expected Yang Yunqing to make such a request.
Yang Yunqing noticed Ye Feng's hesitation and quickly explained, "I just want someone to talk to when I'm in a bad mood. I promise I won't bother you."
Her voice was soft and pleading.
Ye Feng looked at her with a complicated expression.
Yang Yunqing, who was once proud and confident, is now so cautious.
Something deep inside him was touched.
He nodded slowly: "Okay."
Upon hearing this, Yang Yunqing finally smiled.
Ye Feng escorted Yang Yunqing to the elevator: "I won't see you up."
"Thank you for bringing me back." Yang Yunqing called out to him, hesitated for a moment, and then said, "In the future, remember to be more considerate of your girlfriend's feelings, and don't make her... anxious."
The elevator doors slowly closed, shutting out Ye Feng's figure.
Upon arriving at her floor and exiting the elevator, Yang Yunqing turned and walked towards her apartment door.
"You're back so late? Did Ye Feng bring you back?" As soon as Yang's mother opened the door, she saw her daughter and asked with concern.
Yang Yunqing shook her head: "No, Mom. I bumped into something at the hospital today and got a minor injury. My colleague brought me home."
She didn't want her mother to worry, and she didn't want her to still have any hope for Ye Feng.
"Are you injured? How serious is it? Let me see!" Yang's mother immediately became anxious and pulled Yang Yunqing to examine her carefully.
"It's alright, Mom, it's just a minor injury, it's already been treated," Yang Yunqing comforted her mother, but a bitter feeling welled up in her heart.
She and Ye Feng could never go back.
"Oh, you're always so careless," Mrs. Yang grumbled, pulling Yang Yunqing into the house.
Yang Yunqing returned to her bedroom and closed the door. She needed some time to process her emotions.
Just then, the cell phone rang abruptly.
Thinking it was Ye Feng, she quickly answered, "Hello? Don't worry, I'm home already..."
"You slut! Who are you flirting with in the middle of the night?!" A rough male voice came from the other end of the phone, full of hostility.
Yang Yunqing was stunned and didn't realize who it was for a moment.
The voice, both strange and familiar, sent a chill down her spine.
"Who are you?" she asked, trying to remain calm, while glancing at the caller ID—an unfamiliar number.
"You can't even recognize your own father?! Let me tell you, Yang Yunqing, if you dare to..."
Upon hearing this, Yang Yunqing hung up the phone without hesitation.
The phone rang again; it was the same number.
Yang Yunqing hung up immediately.
"Yunqing, whose phone is that? Why does it keep ringing?" Mrs. Yang asked, knocking on the door.
"It's okay, Mom, it was a wrong number," Yang Yunqing explained, preparing to turn off her phone.
Just then, a text message popped up: "Don't think I don't know where you live! I won't let this go so easily!"
