Chapter 194 A Friend

Liu Qingyi looked at him and sighed softly, "Tell me, am I being too petty?"

Ye Feng laughed and reached out to ruffle her hair. "How could that be? Our CEO Liu is a domineering and beautiful president. Of course, she has to maintain a bit of mystery in front of her subordinates!"

Liu Qingyi was amused by his teasing words, but her smile still seemed forced.

"Are you going out?" Liu Qingyi noticed Ye Feng changing his clothes.

"Yes, a department head at the branch office is hospitalized," Ye Feng explained.

Liu Qingyi pouted, "Why explain so much? Who asked you?"

Ye Feng found it amusing; this woman was truly hypocritical.

After changing his clothes, he asked, "Are you free tomorrow night? A friend of mine would like to invite me for drinks and also to meet you."

Liu Qingyi narrowed her eyes warily. "Is it to see me or to drink?"

"I think so," Ye Feng replied with a smile.

"I have a meeting tomorrow, so I might be a little late," Liu Qingyi said in a somewhat cold tone.

"Oh, right," Liu Qingyi said as if she had suddenly remembered something, "Have you told your family or your friends about my work relationship and family background?"

Ye Feng shook his head. "No, just say you're a junior manager in the group and your family is well-off."

Liu Qingyi breathed a sigh of relief. "That's good. Dealing with your sister-in-law is already a headache enough. Don't cause me any more trouble."

Ye Feng knew that Liu Qingyi didn't look down on the Xiong family, but her words still sounded harsh to him.

"I'm leaving." Ye Feng walked to the door, paused, and added, "I've been working for the security department lately, and I've been given a car, so I'm keeping a low profile."

"Hmph, what's there to be so proud of in a broken car?" Liu Qingyi said this, but she was actually happy for him.

Ye Feng went downstairs and had just reached the door when he saw Li Tingting standing there.

Today, Li Tingting wore a light blue dress, looking radiant and beautiful.

Ye Feng remembered his friend's request and suddenly regretted agreeing to help him pursue Li Tingting.

"I'm going on a blind date," Li Tingting said nervously.

Noticing Ye Feng's changed expression, Li Tingting cautiously asked, "Are you angry?"

"Why would I be angry?" Ye Feng smiled, trying to make his tone sound natural.

Disappointment flashed in Li Tingting's eyes. "Could you give me a ride to the movie theater if you're going that way?"

"Get in the car." Ye Feng opened the car door.

"Your car is pretty good," Li Tingting said as she got into the car.

About twenty minutes later, we arrived at the movie theater entrance.

After getting out of the car, Li Tingting turned around and said, "Brother Feng, it'll be quite late after the movie tonight. Can you come pick me up?"

Ye Feng was taken aback, thinking to himself that this girl was quite clingy.

He has a ton of things to do tonight, how can he possibly have time to see her?

"Tingting, your protector tonight should take you home."

Li Tingting smiled awkwardly and bent down to adjust her skirt.

Ye Feng's gaze was involuntarily drawn to her. As Li Tingting leaned forward, her clothes drooped slightly, revealing a patch of snow-white skin.

Li Tingting looked down following Ye Feng's gaze and instantly blushed.

"It's a deal then, you come pick me up!" Li Tingting said, blushing as she turned and ran away.

Ye Feng sighed helplessly. Just then, his phone rang.

"Ye Feng! Where are you right now?!" Chen Yiyi's blunt voice came from the other end of the phone.

Ye Feng checked the time and estimated that he would arrive in half an hour. "I'm outside, it'll only take half an hour to get there."

"Make me wait?! You really have a big ego!" Chen Yiyi complained unhappily.

Back home, Chen's mother was busy in the kitchen when she heard her daughter answer the phone. She poked her head out and asked, "Yiyi, why are you going out so late? Where are you going?"

"Go outside and wait for someone," Chen Yiyi replied casually.

"Who are you waiting for? Is it the boyfriend that your Grandpa Tang introduced to you?" Chen's mother asked, her tone tinged with gossip.

However, just as she finished speaking, Chen Yiyi's room door slammed shut.

Mrs. Chen smiled helplessly and wiped her hands on her apron. "That child, I only asked her two questions, and she left."

Mr. Chen sat on the sofa, wearing his reading glasses, engrossed in reading the newspaper.

Mrs. Chen walked over and gave him a shove. "All you do is read the newspaper all day! You don't even care about your daughter's marriage!"

Mr. Chen put down his newspaper and said slowly, "With a daughter as outstanding as her, why worry about not finding a good son-in-law?"

Mrs. Chen sighed, "I'm not worried about that, I'm worried that she's been scammed. You should go and check on her."

Mrs. Chen was still complaining incessantly, sometimes criticizing Mr. Chen for being too slow, and sometimes worrying about her daughter's safety.

Mr. Chen got a headache from all the nagging and had no choice but to hurry out to find Chen Yiyi.

Mr. Chen walked slowly along the road in the neighborhood, thinking that his daughter was getting on in years and it was time for her to start thinking about her personal life.

From a distance, he saw Chen Yiyi standing by the roadside, seemingly waiting for someone.

Mr. Chen slowed his pace and hid behind a lush camphor tree, wanting to see who his daughter was waiting for.

At this moment, a black sedan slowly stopped in front of Chen Yiyi, the window rolled down, revealing the face of a young man.

Mr. Chen squinted, trying to make out the man's features; he looked somewhat familiar.

Inside the car, Chen Yiyi spread her hands without any hesitation, "Where are the things?"

Ye Feng casually grabbed a paper bag from the passenger seat and tossed it over.

Chen Yiyi caught it, her face darkening even more. "What kind of attitude is this? Master Yizhimei's calligraphy is a complete waste in your hands!"

She carefully opened the pocket and examined the calligraphy copybook closely.

The calligraphy copybook is genuine.

Chen Yiyi secretly breathed a sigh of relief; she could finally hand in her task.

Ye Feng turned to the side and held out his hand, "The information."

Chen Yiyi took a file folder out of her bag, handed it halfway over, then suddenly pulled it back. "What do you want to do?"

Ye Feng grinned, "Don't worry, I'll uphold justice."

Chen Yiyi looked him over suspiciously. "It had better be that way. If you dare to lie to me, I won't let you off the hook!"

Ye Feng held up three fingers. "I promise."

Chen Yiyi handed him the entire file bag.

Before getting off the bus, Chen Yiyi hesitated for a moment, "This calligraphy copybook is to be given to that elder, are you really not going?"

Ye Feng waved his hand, "Forget it, I haven't seen any big scenes, I'd embarrass you if I went."

Chen Yiyi pushed open the car door and got out.

Watching Chen Yiyi's retreating figure, Ye Feng shook his head.

Chen Yiyi walked quickly, thinking to herself that Ye Feng was really a weirdo.

The provincial military compound—a place many people would kill to get into—yet Ye Feng refused her invitation.

Although the old man's identity has never been revealed, one can guess that he must be extraordinary.

However, Ye Feng actually gave up this opportunity to make friends.

She couldn't understand it.

In the end, Chen Yiyi was convinced once again that Ye Feng was not a normal person.
