Chapter Seventy-Three: Trying to Get Information from the Old Man



Xu Wu seemed to understand, but he still followed Ye Feng's instructions and made the preparations.

What's up with Brother Feng's plan?

A short while later, Xu Wu returned carrying two bottles of liquor, several bags of cooked food, and peanuts.

Ye Feng nodded: "Let's go, let's set off."

As night fell, the construction site of Ye's Construction Company appeared particularly deserted.

Only a dim light was on in the guard room at the entrance.

Ye Feng led Xu Wu straight to the duty room.

In the duty room, the old man was dozing off in a chair.

Ye Feng gently knocked on the window.

The old man woke up with a start, squinting as he looked at Ye Feng and Xu Wu.

"It's you again?"

Ye Feng smiled and said, "Yes, it's us."

As he spoke, Xu Wu placed the wine and dishes on the table.

"Grandpa, it's so late and you're still working hard. Come on, let's have a drink together."

The old man looked at the table full of food and wine and hesitated.

"This...isn't this a bit inappropriate?"

"Grandpa, don't be so polite, we're all brothers here." Ye Feng poured the old man a glass of wine warmly.

The old man couldn't refuse, so he had no choice but to sit down.

After a few drinks, the old man started talking.

He started chatting with Ye Feng and Xu Wu about things at the construction site, about everyday life, and about all sorts of things.

While drinking and chatting with the old man, Ye Feng discreetly observed the old man's every move.

Ye Feng felt the time was about right.

"Sir, a lot of materials have been missing from the construction site recently. Do you know what happened?"

Xu Wu readily made up an excuse to leave the duty room.

The old man put down his wine glass and sighed, "Alas, this matter is hard to say."
