Eighty-two: Retreat as an advance



Money was secondary; what he really wanted was Fatty Wu's account book.

The woman cautiously led Ye Feng and Xu Wu to the walk-in closet in the master bedroom.

She opened a huge safe hidden behind a wall, her hands trembling.

The safe was piled high with cash, foreign exchange, and gold bars, which made Xu Wu's eyes widen in amazement.

Ye Feng's gaze, however, fell on a few inconspicuous ledgers in the corner of the safe.

The woman looked at Ye Feng expectantly, "These...we can divide them up!"

Ye Feng calmly picked up the ledger and hid it. Then, pretending to think for a moment, he picked up a large stack of money and handed it to her, saying, "Okay, keep this money. Consider it hush money."

He couldn't let the woman realize that he wanted the ledger.

The woman took the money, quickly changed her clothes, and ran away.

Ye Feng started the car and left the place.

"Brother Feng, that fat guy has a lot of money." Xu Wu felt a little unreal. "The cash and gold in the safe, roughly estimated, must be at least 20 million."

Xu Wu counted on his fingers.

Ye Feng glanced at him, his eyes filled with helplessness.

This guy is still so easily blinded by money.

He shook his head. "A guy like Fatty Wu would never keep his money in a bank. Cash is easy to hide, and it can come in handy at crucial moments."

Xu Wu nodded, seemingly understanding but not quite.

Twenty million! I've never seen so much money in my life.

Ye Feng, however, was already plotting a much bigger plan.

This 20 million might be the key to introducing the three young architects and the big shot behind them.
