Chapter 1 An Unexpected Night

Sikong Jingyu and Shi Wan have no emotional foundation, and divorce is only a matter of time. When that time comes, it will depend on the abilities of each family's daughters to win Sikong Jingyu's heart.

I was a bit late getting off work and it took me a while to get there. I originally said I couldn't come, but I couldn't resist Grandma Sikong's barrage of phone calls. I just wanted to show up, complete my task, and leave, but Grandma Sikong stopped me.

Grandma Sikong gave Shi Wan two glasses of wine, suggesting that the two of them have a good talk tonight.

Nothing was discussed.

After drinking the wine, the two rolled onto the bed and engaged in a deep, intimate conversation that lasted all night.

If Sikong Jingyu wore sunglasses the entire time on the day they got their marriage certificate and didn't look at Shi Wan directly even once, Shi Wan was too oblivious to sense Sikong Jingyu's resistance towards her.

Sikong Jingyu hurriedly left the country on the day they registered their marriage. Shi Wan only learned about it later from others. No matter how carefree Shi Wan was, she should have known how much Sikong Jingyu resisted this marriage.

Shi Wan gave a bitter smile. How could she convince Sikong Jingyu that everything that happened last night was not something she had planned on purpose?

"I did give you the wine, but it was milk..."

Shi Wan looked up, about to explain, when her phone rang, drowning out her voice.

Sikong Jingyu glanced at his phone; it was his assistant, Sun Yang. Sikong Jingyu pressed speakerphone, making no attempt to conceal Shi Wan's presence.

"Sir, as you instructed, I delivered the divorce papers to Tanhua Garden last night, but Madam wasn't home."

Sikong Jingyu shifted his gaze from Shi Wan, picked up his phone, looked at the distant river view, and frowned slightly. He actually had no memory of his wife of more than four years. Back then, when his grandmother forced him to marry her, he had no other choice as he had not yet established himself in the company.

He was angry, so on the day they got their marriage certificate, he wore sunglasses the whole time and didn't even look at the other person directly.

Shi Wan was shocked to hear this. Tanhua Garden was the marital home of Sikong Jingyu and Shi Wan. It turned out that Sikong Jingyu had come back this time to divorce her.

Shi Wan's gaze turned somber as she looked at Sikong Jingyu. Sikong Jingyu's profile was handsome and refined, exuding a coldness that kept strangers at bay: "Not here all night? Or was that just an excuse for her not wanting to see you?"

“I’ve confirmed it; my wife wasn’t home all night,” Sun Yang said.

"She wasn't home all night. It seems being the young mistress of the Sikong family is too easy. Well then, keep looking until she's willing to sign." Sikong Jingyu's mocking tone carried a sense of determination, showing how determined he was to get a divorce.

After listening to Sikong Jingyu's conversation with the person on the other end of the phone, Shi Wan laughed self-deprecatingly.

After all that fuss, it turned out that Sikong Jingyu didn't recognize her at all.
