Yan Zhi gave her a weak smile. Even though she tried to cheer herself up, she was still not in good shape. Perhaps because she was too tired, her voice was hoarse: "I went out to do research at noon and just got back. I ran into you before I even left."
Su Rao's gaze fell on Yan Zhi. She felt something was off, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.
Yan Zhi knew that Su Rao was looking at her, but she didn't deliberately avoid Su Rao's gaze. Instead, she asked gently, "Are you leaving?"
Su Rao snapped out of her daze and smiled, "Let's go together. Wait for me to go to my workstation to get the car keys."
Yan Zhi gave a soft "hmm" and stood quietly waiting for Su Rao.
Su Rao took the car keys from her workstation, went to the restroom again, and when she returned to the elevator, she saw Yan Zhi still standing there, looking sickly and haggard.
A slight stirring in her heart, Su Rao jogged over to Yan Zhi: "I thought you wouldn't be able to wait for me and left first!"
Yan Zhi smiled gently and softly: "I promised to wait for you."
Su Rao pursed her lips and looked at Yan Zhi. When their eyes met, Yan Zhi's eyes were clear and bright, full of sincerity.
Su Rao has always known that there are only work partners, not friends, in the workplace. So over the years, no matter how impressive and extensive Su Rao's interpersonal relationships have been, she has never had any friends with whom she could tell the truth.
But Yan Zhi's sincere eyes made Su Rao want to try opening her heart. What if she could find a true friend in the workplace?
After spending these past few months together, putting everything else aside, Yan Zhi actually has pretty sound values. She doesn't try to please or curry favor, doesn't follow the crowd, stays true to herself, and isn't influenced or assimilated by the powerful and wealthy.
When choosing friends, shouldn't you choose those with sound values? Otherwise, you might get betrayed without even knowing it.
"Let's give it a try. What can she possibly lose? At most, she'll just lose each other," Su Rao thought.
