Chapter 156 Pain

Leng Linli felt a tightness in his chest and was speechless.

Regarding his distrust of Yan Zhi, he was in the wrong, and it's no wonder that Yan Zhi is now attacking him.

A brief standoff ensued.

Leng Linli finally gave in and calmed down. Weren't they out buying groceries?

Why are they arguing again?

Leng Linli paused, stopping precisely at the fruit section. His deep voice rang out, "Do you want an apple?"

Leng Linli picked up a large, plump, red apple and handed it to Yan Zhi.

One second the two were arguing fiercely, the next second Leng Linli asked her if she wanted an apple. Yan Zhi looked up at the bright red apple in Leng Linli's hand and refused, "No."

Leng Linli paused slightly, then handed the banana over again: "What about the bananas?"

"I won't eat."

Where's the mango?

"I won't eat."

"Where are the kiwis?"

“I won’t eat it. I don’t eat everything Leng Linli eats,” Yan Zhi said.

"Then... what about the grapes?" Leng Linli asked, picking up a bunch of grapes.

The grapes are the old variety grown by the farmers themselves, freshly picked and placed on the vine, with a very strong aroma.

Grapes were also Yan Zhi's favorite food since childhood.

But now, Yan Zhi looked cold and stern, and had no appetite whatsoever.

All I feel is annoyance.

If she keeps refusing, will Leng Linli keep asking?

Yan Zhi composed herself, her voice tinged with helplessness: "I don't want to eat."

Without directly refusing or saying she didn't want to eat, Leng Linli put the grapes into the shopping cart.

"You..." Yan Zhi was puzzled by Leng Linli's actions. Didn't she say she wasn't going to eat?

"Let's make peace, okay? I'm the one who got insulted, why are you so angry?" Leng Linli's face was somewhat gloomy, and his tone of seeking peace was obvious.

Yan Zhi was stunned. Without being drunk, Leng Linli had once again begged for reconciliation with her?

Is she angry?

Yan Zhi couldn't explain it either.

But thinking back to the past, no matter how indifferent she may seem, and no matter how peaceful things appear on the surface, Yan Zhi must still feel a bit of resentment and regret in her heart.

Yan Zhi looked at the grapes in the shopping cart, feeling a sense of helplessness: "I'm not angry, I just... thought about things from the past."

His cold, sharp, deep, dark eyes stared at Yan Zhi for a long time before he slowly said, "I'm sorry about what happened before."

Yan Zhi swayed slightly, looking at Leng Linli with some disbelief.

A proud and aloof person like him would not apologize easily.

But he actually apologized to her?

He has said it several times in just a few days.

"You..." Yan Zhi's tone was somewhat uncertain.

"I know, I was wrong." Leng Linli interrupted Yan Zhi, sincerely apologizing. He didn't want to see Yan Zhi angry or sad. He wanted to do something to make Yan Zhi happy.

Yan Zhi looked into his cold and sharp eyes, trying to see through the truth in his words, but after a long while, his gaze remained open and honest, without any impurities. Every word he spoke seemed to come from the bottom of his heart.

Looking around, Yan Zhi asked uncertainly, "Is Grandma nearby again?"

"No!" Leng Linli answered decisively.

"Then you...?" It's no wonder Yan Zhiyi was suspicious; her cold and stern demeanor these past two days was truly strange.

"I should... believe you." Leng Linli's words were choked with emotion.

Yan Zhi was slightly taken aback for a moment, then smiled.

suddenly see the light.

It turns out that Leng Linli's apology stemmed from his finally believing that she hadn't plotted to marry his grandmother to him.

To put it bluntly, the problem is that Leng Linli doesn't trust her. He insists on his own way and his own opinions even before things have been confirmed, which is a second blow to her.

Leng Linli's initial choice and decision did not take into account whether she would be hurt. Perhaps Leng Linli struggled with it, perhaps he regretted it, but none of that is worthy of forgiveness.

"Hmm...it's over." Yan Zhi said simply.

She wore a smile on her face, a gentle and bright smile, her tone calm, and her eyes were completely still, as if she were narrating something that had nothing to do with her.

Yan Zhi didn't say anything about forgiveness, nor did she criticize Leng Linli again. Some things, once they're over, are over. No matter if there was sadness or how it happened, it's all in the past.

Yan Zhi was just upset by his cold and insincere behavior. If he had honestly told her before the wedding, would she have refused to let him and Bai Lian be together?

Now things have come to this point; the two can't get a divorce, and they can't continue living together.

When Feifei left, she told her, "Zhizhi, don't spend too much time being sad, spend more time being happy."

Now that she's staying by Leng Linli's side, Yan Zhi's condition is actually not good.

She wasn't exactly happy.

For them, this marriage was undoubtedly a transparent walled city, trapping them both.

Leng Linli suddenly felt an emptiness in his heart, as if something was missing. He felt uncomfortable and flustered. He apologized belatedly, but Yan Zhi only said lightly, "It's over."

Those three simple words, like three needles, pierced his chest, causing him sharp pain.

He opened his mouth again, feeling as if he were walking on thin ice, and finding it difficult to speak: "You can..."

"No." Yan Zhi refused bluntly.

Yan Zhi roughly knew what Leng Linli wanted to say.

"Mr. Leng has been in the business world for years. Doesn't he know that you can't get forgiveness just by saying sorry?" There's no such thing as a free lunch, and even if there were, this wouldn't be the case.

Perhaps Yan Zhi will soon let go of the matter, perhaps Yan Zhi will soon forgive, but that doesn't mean it will happen now.
