His cold, sharp eyes darkened, and his thin lips pursed slightly. Putting himself in her shoes, he could completely understand Yan Zhi. When he first found out that she had lied to him, it took him more than a month of internal struggle before he slowly came to his senses.
There is never hatred without a reason in this world. The fact that Yan Zhi doesn't forgive him at least shows that she still cares about him to some extent. Things haven't reached the point where there's no room for reversal. The worst thing would be if Yan Zhi lost both love and hate for him, which would be the most troublesome situation.
Take your time.
Leng Linli sighed inwardly, his gaze towards Yan Zhi unfathomable.
We've been entangled in this matter for far too long. Now that it's over, there's no need to waste time and energy on it anymore. Yan Zhi changed the subject, her tone rather indifferent: "What does President Leng like to eat?"
"Choose what you like to eat," Leng Linli replied casually, suppressing the complex emotions in his heart.
His voice was low, and Yan Zhi could hear the disappointment in his voice.
Nodding imperceptibly, Yan Zhi appeared to be carefully selecting items.
"How can you have hot pot without watermelon!"
Yan Zhi was about to pick out a watermelon when her hand was restrained by a force. She looked at her restrained hand, raised it in mid-air, shook her two still clasped hands, and reminded him with a faint smile, "President Leng."
What a good reason! He couldn't help but let go, and Leng Linli reluctantly released the hand he was holding Yan Zhi's.
Yan Zhi looked at her freed hands, her smile deepening. She casually picked up a watermelon, flicked it, and said with a bright, cheerful smile, "You're the one."
Her smile was casual, gentle, and carefree, like a cat in an alley—lazy, relaxed, and at ease.
Leng Linli stared at Yan Zhi's appearance, his heart tightening. A sudden realization rushed into his mind, reminding him that he was the only one trapped.
The only person I care about is him.
Leng Linli lowered his gaze, concealing the fleeting sadness in his eyes. He forced a nonchalant smile and asked in a low voice, "What else would you like to eat?"
Yan Zhi smiled, her tone casual and light: "I'm not picky about food. Mr. Leng, just take whatever you like. There's no need to cater to me."
Yan Zhi's answer made Leng Linli pause, and his expression darkened. A gloomy look appeared between his brows, as if he was trying his best to endure or suppress some kind of emotion.
Is Yan Zhi treating him like an outsider, mistaking his concern and thoughtfulness for mere indulgence?
It was like a jumble of flavors spilled from a bottle; a chilling coldness settled in my heart, a mixture of sweet, sour, bitter, spicy, and salty tastes that were hard to describe.
His thin lips parted slightly as his phone rang.
Choking back what he was about to say, Leng Linli took out his phone, and upon seeing the words on the screen, his eyes showed a hint of disgust.
It was Bai Lian's phone call.
