"There are a lot to do on Mondays." Sang Lishu lowered her head, looking slightly tired.
"How were these tasks assigned? I see... other people aren't this busy, are they?" Bai Lian changed the subject of Secretary Yan from "other people" to "other people."
Bai Lian's words successfully reminded Sang Lishu of Yan Zhi, and a hint of jealousy and hatred flashed in Sang Lishu's eyes.
Even though they are both secretaries of the Leng family, and even though Sang Lishu has been with the company longer than Yan Zhi, the work that Yan Zhi handles is more respectable than that of Sang Lishu!
Sang Lishu has been with Leng's company for three years, and she still does simple jobs like printing and photocopying, occasionally getting some low-difficulty projects to work on.
Compared to Yan Zhi, Yan Zhi has access to much better projects, and President Leng often takes her out to broaden her horizons. Even the projects and clients that Su Rao and Lin Xi have access to are of a higher caliber than those that Sang Li Shu has.
The more Sang Lishu looked back, the more those unbearable memories overwhelmed her. Everyone thought she was glamorous at Leng's company, but in reality, she was not even as good as a newcomer among Leng's secretaries.
Sang Lishu paused for a moment before continuing, "It was assigned by President Leng. Perhaps President Leng felt that Secretary Yan's work ability was stronger than mine, so he assigned her more important projects."
Bai Lian glanced at the documents in the photocopier and casually remarked, "But I think you're even more amazing. You handle so much work so efficiently."
Hearing Bai Lian's flattering words, Sang Lishu felt secretly pleased, but on her face she put on a humble expression: "Not at all, not at all. I will need Assistant Bai's help in the future."
As they chatted, the conversation turned to Yan Zhi.
Sang Lishu talked a lot about Yan Zhi's work at the Leng family, about her impressions of Yan Zhi, her arrogance and aloofness, her naivety, and her blandness and uninteresting nature...
After Sang Lishu finished her long-winded speech, she realized that Bai Lian had been listening quietly the whole time, and she coughed awkwardly, "Um, Assistant Bai, I'm sorry to have kept you waiting for my complaints."
Bai Lian smiled faintly, her eyes fixed on the data in the photocopier. "No, I think you're absolutely right. The work my brother assigned you is a complete waste of your talent."
"Assistant Bai, you flatter me." Sang Lishu smiled; Bai Lian's words pleased her greatly.
Bai Lian looked up at Sang Lishu, her eyes filled with sincerity: "If it weren't for Secretary Yan..."
Bai Lian stopped mid-sentence, gathered up the photocopied documents, placed them in Sang Lishu's hands, and smiled slightly: "Secretary Sang, they're all photocopied. I'll head back now."
"Okay." Sang Lishu politely saw Bai Lian off.
Watching Bai Lian's departing figure, a look of resentment and gloom flashed across Sang Lishu's face.
Bai Lian didn't finish her sentence, but Sang Lishu heard it all and took it to heart. If it weren't for Yan Zhi...
Sang Lishu gripped the document in her hand tightly, her eyes flashing with malice.
After finishing the last project, it was lunchtime. Yan Zhi stretched and looked at Su Rao: "Come on, let me treat you to lunch."
Su Rao's eyes dimmed: "I'm not going. I've been eating too much meat and fish these past few days and I've gained weight. I've been dieting these past few days, and all I've been drinking is water."
Yan Zhi continued to urge him to eat: "I'll treat you to a diet meal."
Su Rao mimed zipping up her pants: "Until I get back to 90 pounds, I'll only drink water! Oh my god! How can I lose weight to 90 pounds quickly?"
Looking at Su Rao's almost pathological aesthetics and self-torture, Yan Zhi sincerely advised, "I sincerely suggest you don't lose weight like this. Only your enemies would want you to be thin. As a woman, I want you to run fast and jump high."
Su Rao sighed and gave up her craving for delicious food: "You're right, but being fair-skinned can hide a hundred flaws, but being fat can ruin everything. I can't just have nothing, can I?"
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. You're not going to be a celebrity, so you don't need to be so hard on yourself. Just take good care of yourself," Yan Zhi said, dragging Su Rao out of the CEO's office.
In the corridor, only Su Rao's final, desperate cry remained: "Then let's eat a diet meal."
“Okay,” Yan Zhi said with a smile.
After lunch, Yan Zhi sat back down at her workstation, preparing to print the documents she had prepared that morning. Suddenly, she was hit by a bump, and her chair moved violently due to the external force. Without warning, Yan Zhi's head hit the corner of the table.
Yan Zhi was in so much pain that she bent over, raised her hand to touch her forehead, and her fingertips were stained red with blood.
Yan Zhi frowned, her forehead hurting even more.
Her chest and below were damp. Yan Zhi tried to stand up, only to find a woman kneeling in her arms, looking rather disheveled.
Yan Zhi pushed the person in her arms away slightly before realizing it was Sang Lishu, who was holding a water cup. She had probably tripped and fallen into Yan Zhi's arms.
Sang Lishu looked up and saw Yan Zhi's bleeding forehead, and was stunned for a moment.
"...I didn't mean to. How are you? Are you alright?" Sang Lishu asked with concern, her delicate face full of worry.
Yan Zhi held her forehead, pulled out a few tissues to press on the wound, and then noticed that the computer screen was black. Ignoring her wound, Yan Zhi quickly checked her computer.
The computer was Yan Zhi's laptop. She took some of the data home over the weekend and used it so well that she didn't switch to the company computer this morning to finish the rest of the data.
Now... the laptop is covered in water, and Yan Zhi's computer screen is black.
When Sang Lishu saw that Yan Zhi had bumped her head, she panicked for a moment, but only for a moment. After that, she pretended to be calm and said, "I also fell by accident. Look, my knee is scraped. I didn't do it on purpose... I can help you fix your computer."
"Okay," Yan Zhi said.
"What's so good about it?" Su Rao's voice interrupted.
Su Rao grabbed Sang Lishu and wouldn't let it go: "Didn't you realize she did it on purpose? Otherwise, how could it be so coincidental that she just happened to fall on you and spill water on your computer! Look, the documents you need this afternoon haven't even been printed out yet and your computer is already broken. When you can't finish your work this afternoon, you'll get a scolding from President Leng. Isn't she trying to harm you?"
Yan Zhi pulled Su Rao up, but just as she stood up, she felt dizzy and staggered, almost falling.
Su Rao released Sang Lishu and quickly helped Yan Zhi up: "What's wrong?"
Yan Zhi waved her hand, forcing a smile: "It's nothing, I just bumped into the corner of the table and I'm a little dizzy now."
Sang Lishu looked at Yan Zhi, feeling a little guilty, but still insisted, "It was just a light touch. You're not trying to extort money from me, are you?"
