"Yan Zhi!"
Leng Linli rushed towards Yan Zhi without regard for anything, but this time there was no gentle and casual voice to respond to him!
Yan Zhi lay unconscious on the ground, her face deathly pale.
Leng Linli's hands were trembling.
He picked up Yan Zhi, who was lying asleep on the ground, and his usually steady steps became somewhat hurried as he stumbled and ran outside.
Yan Zhi's face was serene, but Leng Linli's heart was in turmoil. All the palpitations he had forcibly ignored surged up at this moment. He vaguely sensed that something precious was slipping away from him, something he was about to miss.
When Yan Zhi woke up, she was receiving an IV drip.
Leng Linli stood guard by the bedside, his eyes lowered, watching Yan Zhi intently, glancing at the IV drip bottle every now and then.
Seeing that Yan Zhi had woken up, a flash of joy appeared in his cold and sharp eyes.
Thankfully, it was just a false alarm.
As if he had thought of something, the joyful light in Leng Linli's eyes dimmed again.
Their eyes met, and Yan Zhi, still somewhat dazed from just waking up, slowly looked away.
My head hurts a little.
"The doctor said you fainted due to low blood sugar and suffered a mild concussion after falling and hitting your head. Is there anything else that's bothering you?" Leng Linli asked cautiously.
In fact, Leng Linli concealed the fact that the real reason for his fainting was over-fatigue, and he was partly responsible for the cause of the fatigue.
Yan Zhi slowly shook her head.
"Did I sleep for a long time?" Yan Zhi smiled slightly, her voice a little hoarse.
"Hmm." Leng Linli nodded slightly, his eyes filled with caution.
"What do you want to eat? I'll go out and buy it."
Yan Zhi raised her eyes and looked at Leng Linli, her expression somewhat tired. She gently shook her head, slowly closed her eyes, and the events that had happened before floated through her mind.
And how many more times will this happen?
Thinking of this, Yan Zhi steadied herself and slowly began to speak: "Leng Linli, we..."
"I'm sorry about what happened last night." Leng Linli interrupted Yan Zhi, his voice low and deep. He had more or less guessed what Yan Zhi was going to say next.
Yan Zhi paused, then gave a bitter smile, her expression faint: "I'm tired. I don't want this to happen again."
When she said this, Yan Zhi's expression was very calm, and her eyes were so clear that there was not a ripple in them.
"I know, so I'm sorry." Leng Linli apologized softly, his voice hoarse. Perhaps because he hadn't slept all night, his brows revealed an indescribable weariness.
Yan Zhi's eyes stung with tears. Leng Linli's appearance was just like before. She missed his sincerity, his gentleness, and his connection with her.
She used to really like him.
She once truly believed he was her salvation.
She was so close, so very close, to touching the bright, dazzling moon in the night sky.
Unfortunately, the next second... dawn broke.
Yan Zhi shook her head, putting those nostalgic memories behind her, and said calmly, "Leng Linli, when you want me, I have to cooperate. Regardless of the occasion or place, you take whatever you want without ever asking my opinion. You have never once respected me."
"You... are unwilling?" Leng Linli was uncertain for a moment, and there was a hint of hurt in his eyes.
Leng Linli never imagined that Yan Zhi would be unwilling.
Although Yan Zhi would initially resist during their intimate moments, she would gradually calm down and let him have his way. Leng Linli always thought that this was her way of playing hard to get with her husband.
Yan Zhi smiled faintly, seemingly out of anger.
Is she willing?
Well... it was indeed her impulsive decision back then that led to what happened later.
This is the inherent weakness of men.
"You've never treated me as an equal... Forget it, what's the point of telling you all this now?" Yan Zhi said, then laughed self-deprecatingly.
His thin, cold lips tightened, and after a moment of silence, he finally said, "I always thought... that what you and I did... was consensual."
Yan Zhi smiled, a complex look flashing in her eyes: "Leng Linli, how could you think that way? You don't love me, do you think I would do it willingly? You said I broke you and Bai Lian up, so as Bai Lian's lover, don't you feel sorry for Bai Lian when you do that kind of thing with me time and time again? Or is it that Bai Lian doesn't mind you doing that kind of thing with me at all?"
A hint of annoyance flashed in Leng Linli's eyes: "My business with you has never been her concern."
Yan Zhizhen was puzzled and couldn't understand: "How can it be unrelated? You two are each other's lovers. Love is very private. How can people who love each other tolerate outsiders interfering in their relationship?"
"Bai Lian and I have never had the kind of relationship you think we have. That was just something I made up to deceive you. The only person I have ever loved is you," Leng Linli explained.
Yan Zhi froze, staring blankly at Leng Linli, unable to recover for a long time.
Gradually, Yan Zhi smiled, her eyes filled with sarcasm.
Suspecting that she had deceived her grandmother into marrying him, Leng Linli fabricated a lie that she had interfered in his relationship with Bai Lian.
Leng Linli truly lives up to his reputation as a business tycoon; he really knows how to... kill someone by destroying their spirit!
She truly couldn't bear his love!
Yan Zhi thought her heart was strong enough, but for a moment, a tear still fell uncontrollably. Yan Zhi turned her head slightly, unable to tell whether the tear was from anger or sadness.
After calming herself down, Yan Zhi continued, "Alright, Leng Linli, I now know that you and Bai Lian are fake, but even so, when you were with me, you had ulterior motives and you weren't sincere."
Leng Linli frowned deeply. He regretted it and wanted to defend himself, but what Yan Zhi said was true.
When he tricked Yan Zhi into registering their marriage, the sincerity he showed was not his whole heart.
His arrogance and the harm he caused Yan Zhi cannot be erased; he... cannot defend himself.
Leng Linli gently grasped Yan Zhi's hand and pleaded in a low voice, "I apologize for all of this. Let's start over, okay?"
