Seeing Yan Zhi like this, Gu Linli felt a pang of heartache.
In front of him, Yan Zhi had never been so vulnerable, helpless, broken, and with an inescapable powerlessness on her face.
Leng Linli reached out and wiped away Yan Zhi's tears, then kissed her eyes with utmost tenderness.
No matter what she did wrong, the moment she cried, it was his fault.
After giving Yan Zhi a quick wash, Leng Linli carried her to bed. Perhaps because she had been crying, Yan Zhi relaxed and quickly fell asleep.
Leng Linli sat on the edge of the bed, staring intently at Yan Zhi's quiet face.
The heartache reached its peak at this moment.
He had originally intended to teach her a lesson tonight.
But that was just how it was originally.
When Yan Zhi woke up, she was sleeping in her own bed. Her clothes had been changed and her body had been washed.
In her memory, she had seen Leng Linli last night; he was on top of her...
Yan Zhi checked herself and found no marks on her body.
It seems like I was dreaming.
She drank too much last night and her mind was clouded. I don't know if she did anything outrageous afterwards.
Next time, I can't listen to Su Rao again and drink so much alcohol; I actually ordered eight male models.
However, Yan Zhi had only been in the nightclub for a few minutes when she got drunk and didn't even notice what the guys looked like or whether they had good physiques.
Some crazy memories flooded my mind: her wild, unrestrained dancing on the dance floor...
Yan Zhi was completely devastated.
Who brought her back in the end?
Yan Zhi couldn't remember very clearly.
Before Yan Zhi could process those immediate memories, Su Rao called: "Are you awake? If you are, come out shopping. It's a rare weekend!"
"good."
After hanging up the phone, Yan Zhi quickly tidied herself up and went out to meet Su Rao.
Upon meeting, Su Rao linked arms with Yan Zhi, her eyes gleaming with a mischievous gossip: "After President Leng carried you away last night, did anything special happen? Like, did you two hit each other instantly? Like, did they clap and cheer? Like... did you two get together?"
Yan Zhi was stunned. It turned out that those fragments in her memory were not a dream, but real!
Recalling what she did to Leng Linli last night, Yan Zhi's expression turned somewhat unpleasant. Although she hadn't broken through the final barrier, she had actually done everything she could.
Forget it, I'll just pretend I was drunk and don't remember, to avoid an awkward situation when I meet Leng Linli.
"Judging from your expression, something must have happened," Su Rao excitedly pointed out, her tone ambiguous.
Yan Zhi glanced at Su Rao indifferently: "Sister, you really know a lot."
Su Rao chuckled twice, took Yan Zhi's arm, and said proudly, "Of course! After all, I've dated eight male models!"
"To fight eight opponents alone is something to be proud of," Yan Zhi joked.
"Your hair tie is actually quite pretty." Su Rao blushed and changed the subject, taking Yan Zhi's arm as they entered a clothing store.
"I bought it for three yuan. If you like it, I'll bring you one tomorrow," Yan Zhi said with a smile.
Before Su Rao could even say "okay," someone picking out clothes in the corner chimed in, "Secretary Yan, you earn a million a year, yet you still use a three-yuan hair tie."
Sang Lishu wore a contemptuous sneer on her face, her eyes full of mockery, looking down at Yan Zhi with an air of superiority.
Su Rao frowned and pulled Yan Zhi away, saying, "What a small world! How could we run into each other like this? Let's go to another place."
"I'm fine. Didn't you say you liked these clothes? Why don't you choose them before you leave?" Yan Zhi smiled.
Yan Zhi smiled faintly, her gaze calm as she looked at Sang Lishu, seemingly unafraid: "What a coincidence, Secretary Sang!"
Yan Zhi's greeting went unanswered, and Sang Lishu snorted coldly: "Take my advice, don't use that three-yuan hair tie anymore, just throw it away."
Yan Zhi smiled gently: "A three-yuan hair tie is also very cost-effective. It only costs three yuan. I can't possibly chase after the shopkeeper and give him three thousand."
"Then why can't you use a hair tie that costs three thousand?" Sang Lishu sneered, her eyes full of contempt and disdain.
Yan Zhi smiled faintly, her tone still gentle and soothing: "No."
Su Rao retorted at the opportune moment: "Values are a good thing. A person's poverty is not about being poor in terms of wealth, but about being lacking in thought and knowledge. A person can lose anything, but the one thing they cannot lose is knowledge and self-respect. What's wrong with a three-yuan hair tie? It still serves its purpose."
Su Rao's words were like two hard slaps to Sang Lishu's face, leaving her feeling both ashamed and indignant. Sang Lishu's face turned pale and then red, and she gritted her teeth in hatred: "Su Rao, I'm talking to Yan Zhi, why are you interrupting?"
"Is this your house? Whether I speak or not, how I speak, is none of your business!" Su Rao glared coldly at Sang Lishu, looking like she was about to interrupt.
Sang Lishu was furious. Pointing at Su Rao, her face flushed red with anger, she uttered in a high-pitched voice, "Su Rao! Try saying that again!"
Su Rao always obliged, and indeed repeated it again, even mimicking Sang Lishu's affected tone, which infuriated Sang Lishu to the point of wanting to breathe fire!
"Sang Lishu, how long have you been practicing that double-note sound?" Su Rao asked directly, showing no mercy whatsoever.
“Who practiced? This is my talent! It’s innate!” Sang Lishu said confidently.
Su Rao then imitated Sang Lishu's high-pitched voice, saying, "How did you acquire this talent? Can you teach me?"
After saying that, Su Rao gagged and whispered to Yan Zhi, "If I had a voice like that, it would be quite annoying, wouldn't it?"
