Chapter 205 So What If You Can Cry?

Leng Linli ordered someone to check the surveillance footage, but the recording broke down just one minute after Yan Zhi handed over her work.

Leng Linli stared at the broken surveillance footage, his gaze dark and his thin lips pressed into a thin line, exuding a dangerous aura.

The others stood to the side, shrugging their shoulders, barely daring to breathe loudly.

"Brother, I really did follow Secretary Yan's instructions. Secretary Tang was also present at the time, and she can testify to that." Bai Lian said, her eyes brimming with tears, looking pitiful as she pointed at Tang Xiaoxiao.

A deafening roar echoed through the sky; disaster struck from the heavens!

Tang Xiaoxiao was terrified when Bai Lian suddenly dragged her into the mess. She stood quietly to the side, wondering how she could possibly get herself into trouble.

And Bai Lian is not someone Tang Xiaoxiao can afford to offend! ╥﹏╥

Tang Xiaoxiao nodded calmly, remaining composed: "Yes, that's right. Before Secretary Yan left with me, she did hand over some work to Assistant Bai, saying that one document would be used at the signing ceremony and another needed to be shredded. But we were in a rush, and I was so busy pulling Secretary Yan around that I didn't hear the details carefully..."

Leng Linli turned his head and looked at Tang Xiaoxiao with his dark eyes. Tang Xiaoxiao felt a chill run down her spine and was uneasy: "President, I will contact people to repair that surveillance camera right away."

Having worked in the workplace for many years, Yan Zhi understood that in this situation, it was best to protect oneself. Yan Zhi did not blame Tang Xiaoxiao. No law required people to tell the truth. Yan Zhi said calmly, "There was too much time at the time, so it's normal that Secretary Tang didn't hear clearly. Now, repairing the surveillance is the most important thing."

Tang Xiaoxiao wasn't exactly lying; she genuinely hadn't been paying attention to what was being said and couldn't vouch for anyone.

"Okay, go and handle it," Leng Linli replied.

"Yes, President." Tang Xiaoxiao breathed a sigh of relief.

Tang Xiaoxiao hurriedly left to find the technical department to debug and repair the monitoring system, while the others also wisely returned to their workstations to protect themselves.

"President Leng, how should we handle this?" Yan Zhi asked.

Leng Linli said in a deep voice, "You are her direct superior. How to punish her is up to you."

Leng Linli's words startled Bai Lian. She thought that if she had someone sabotage the surveillance, Yan Zhi wouldn't be able to find any fault with her. But now, Leng Linli was actually siding with Yan Zhi regardless of right or wrong!

Bai Lian's eyes instantly welled up with tears, and her voice trembled with sobs: "I'm sorry, it's all my fault. I'm so stupid. Maybe I didn't hear you clearly. I'm so useless. I can't even do the smallest thing right."

Yan Zhi lowered her head, her eyes demure, and a smile played on her lips. She looked at Bai Lian's attitude of admitting her mistake; her attitude was good and her tone was sincere.

Bai Lian is a cold and ruthless person, and now that she has admitted her mistake, there is nothing wrong with her attitude. If Yan Zhi really punishes Bai Lian, wouldn't that be a public slap in the face to the cold and ruthless person?

Leng Linli really knows how to handle people; unable to deal with Bai Lian himself, he simply passed the problem on to her.

Bai Lian's tears fell in a steady stream: "I'm sorry, Secretary Yan, it's my fault. Please punish me."

It has to be said that Bai Lian's acting is really good. Now the pressure is on Yan Zhi. Yan Zhi raises her eyes, smiles faintly, and looks at Bai Lian calmly. Yan Zhi knows that she can't possibly kick Bai Lian out of the president's office.

Since Bai Lian cannot be punished, Yan Zhi can at least ask for a chance for herself.

Bai Lian felt uneasy under Yan Zhi's gaze. She felt that Yan Zhi's eyes were full of calculation. Damn it, how exactly did Yan Zhi want to punish her?

"President Leng, it turns out I'm really incompetent at managing Assistant Bai. Please help me assign her to another secretary," Yan Zhi said casually.

Bai Lian stared wide-eyed, unable to believe that Yan Zhi would let her go so easily!

She thought Yan Zhi was going to kick her out of the CEO's office!

Leng Linli narrowed his eyes, his gaze shifting between Yan Zhi and Bai Lian, seemingly considering Yan Zhi's suggestion.

After a moment, he parted his thin lips slightly: "Okay."

"Thank you for your understanding, Mr. Leng." Yan Zhi smiled and returned to her workstation to continue working.

"Come into my office with me." Leng Linli said, then took the lead and left. Bai Lian gritted her teeth and followed behind him.

Inside the CEO's office.

Leng Linli sat in the CEO's chair, his hands clasped together, silent.

Bai Lian stood there anxiously, at a loss for what to do.

Leng Linli stared at Bai Lian with sharp eyes.

Bai Lian felt her scalp tingle under Leng Linli's gaze and couldn't help but swallow.

After a long silence, Leng Linli spoke in a deep voice: "Bai Lian, I made you her assistant to reduce her pressure, not to increase her workload. If you can't do this little thing well, you can apply for a job transfer."

A look of surprise crossed Bai Lian's face. Yan Zhi hadn't kicked her out of the president's office, but Leng Linli had personally kicked her out. Was he really that protective of Yan Zhi?

Bai Lian dared not refute, and could only bite the bullet and apologize: "I'm sorry, brother, this time it was my carelessness, I will correct it."

"Once the surveillance footage is fixed, if it's your fault, leave the CEO's office on your own!"

Leng Linli sighed deeply and waved his hand: "Go out."

The surveillance footage was beyond repair; she had hired a top-tier hacker. Bai Lian turned and left, secretly cursing: "Yan Zhi, sooner or later, I'll get my revenge!"

As Bai Lian left the CEO's office and passed by Su Rao's workstation, she overheard Su Rao showing Yan Zhi a tearful TV drama, while Su Rao veiledly criticizing her: "So what if you cry when you're wrong? You think you're so great just because you can cry?"

"Su Rao, just you wait. You'd better not fall into my hands." Bai Lian raised her chin, gave an arrogant snort, and walked over haughtily in her high heels.

Over the next two days, Su Rao's clients were frequently snatched away. Several big orders that were almost in her hands were signed by others out of nowhere. Su Rao shamelessly asked those clients and found out that the person who stole her orders was Bai Lian.
