Yan Zhi nodded, and a wave of fear washed over her as she recalled Leng Linli being bitten by a snake.
Yan Zhi pushed Leng Linli to the ward for his injection, being very gentle the whole time, afraid of hurting him.
Grandma Leng followed behind the two, looking at her grandson and daughter-in-law who treated each other with respect, her eyes filled with kindness and satisfaction.
"Zhizhi, take good care of this boy. I'll go back and ask Aunt Wu to cook some nourishing dishes and send them over." Grandma Leng leaned on her cane, covering her mouth and chuckling as she left the ward.
Seeing Grandma Leng's quick pace, Yan Zhi instructed, "I know, Grandma, please slow down."
"I'm very slow," Grandma Leng replied, but her pace didn't slow down at all.
After Grandma left, the ward became quiet. Yan Zhi stared intently at the IV drip bottle, thinking, "Let's wait a few more days, at least until Leng Linli is discharged."
The next day, after Leng Linli finished his IV drip, Yan Zhi went to the company to complete her resignation procedures.
Leng Linli didn't object much. He was right. Even if Yan Zhi resigned, they would still be husband and wife.
Let her do whatever she wants.
Let her do what she wants to do. If she makes a mistake, he'll take responsibility. No matter what Yan Zhi does, whether it's right or wrong, he'll always cover for her.
Perhaps because of his injury, Yan Zhi changed her usual behavior and treated him very well, just like before they broke up. She was obedient, and sometimes Leng Linli couldn't help but hug and kiss her, and she wouldn't refuse.
This injury can be considered a blessing in disguise.
After completing her resignation procedures, Yan Zhi returned to the ward with dinner. It had only been a few hours since Leng Linli last saw her, and it felt like a lifetime had passed.
Seeing Yan Zhi approaching him, his cold and indifferent face gradually came to life. His eyes followed her, and the cold and gloomy expression he had during the video conference seemed to melt away like an iceberg. His eyes were filled with love, a love that seemed ready to overflow at any moment.
He looked at Yan Zhi with a cold, sharp smile, his expression full of doting affection.
“Wife…” Leng Linli tentatively began.
"Hmm? Are you hungry?" Yan Zhi asked, setting out the dishes and rice.
Seeing that Yan Zhi did not refuse, a glint flashed in Leng Linli's eyes, and he called out again, his voice as gentle as water: "Wife."
Leng Linli felt an indescribable sense of happiness at this moment. What he had dreamed of in the past had all come true today, and his heart was filled with warmth and sweetness.
The word "wife" made Yan Zhi pause in her action of holding the lunchbox, while Leng Linli's gaze towards her was full of deep affection.
In fact, Yan Zhi knew the reason for Leng Linli's change; he probably thought that they had reconciled.
Yan Zhi's eyes darkened. Oh well, it's only a few days. Why not let go of the past and enjoy these few days?
To ensure you have no regrets.
This also allows Leng Linli to focus on recovering from his illness.
Yan Zhi smiled faintly, her eyes gradually softening, and handed the rice bowl to Leng Linli.
Leng Linli took the food but placed it on the bedside table.
His gaze remained fixed on Yan Zhi. Taking advantage of her momentary lapse in attention, he suddenly grabbed her shoulders, lifted her up, rolled her over, and pinned her against the edge of the bed.
Yan Zhi was startled by Leng Linli's sudden action, but quickly recovered and smiled gently: "Aren't you hungry?"
Leng Linli stared into her clear eyes, his Adam's apple bobbing. He lowered his head slightly, kissed her lips a few times, and said in a low, husky voice, "Hungry."
"Eat if you're hungry." Yan Zhi tried to push Leng Linli away, but she couldn't. Leng Linli's strong arms were tightly wrapped around her waist.
"But I want to eat you more now..." A wicked smile curved Leng Linli's lips. His superior brow bone and handsome features made him even more charming. His deep eyes seemed to want to suck away her soul.
"Stop fooling around." Yan Zhi glared at the man who was in heat, her eyes cold.
"Wife..."
Leng Linli called softly, his long, slender, white fingers gently stroking Yan Zhi's hair. His thin lips drew closer, and he asked tenderly, "Is it alright?"
"Would you stop if I said no?" Yan Zhi looked up and met his cold, sharp black eyes.
"Yes." Leng Linli nodded, his eyes still brimming with lust.
Yan Zhi was taken aback by the cold and sharp answer.
When did Leng Linli start caring about her wishes?
Their eyes met. Leng Linli was breathing heavily, already trying to control himself. Their relationship had just begun to ease, and he didn't want to ruin this warm harmony because of his impulsiveness.
The arm around Yan Zhi's waist gradually loosened, and Leng Linli calmed his breathing, smiling gently: "Silly girl."
Yan Zhi looked at Leng Linli with confusion, unable to understand for a moment.
His smile was indulgent, and he gently pinched Yan Zhi's cheek with his soft fingertips, handing her a pair of chopsticks and saying in a doting tone, "Let's eat."
Looking at Leng Linli's considerate demeanor, Yan Zhi felt a strange sensation in her heart.
Three days later, Leng Linli was finally able to be discharged from the hospital. Grandma Leng called and invited them to come back to the old house for dinner.
As Yan Zhi packed her belongings, she said to Leng Linli, "Grandma wants us to go back to the old house for dinner tonight."
Leng Linli walked up behind Yan Zhi and naturally hugged her from behind. In the past few days, this action had become a habitual action of Leng Linli. Yan Zhi had no idea when Leng Linli would suddenly make such an intimate move.
Burying her face in Yan Zhi's neck, her cold and sharp voice was tinged with a hint of coquettishness: "Why doesn't Grandma just call me directly? It's like I'm just an extra."
As he spoke, Leng Linli's cold, sharp breath sprayed all over Yan Zhi's neck. Yan Zhi's neck itched from the warmth and she was about to dodge, but Leng Linli held her even tighter.
My earlobe was bitten.
Yan Zhi shrank back, glancing helplessly at the lustful man behind her, and said, somewhat speechlessly, "I'm tidying up."
