Chapter 75 Please Don't Do This Anymore

If it had been just one step later, Sikong Jingyu might not have been able to push that person away!

Even now, when he thinks about it, Sikong Jingyu still feels a chill of fear!

Fortunately, the knife didn't land on Shi Wan.

Even he fainted from the pain; if it were night, how would she endure it?

Thinking of this, Sikong Jingyu couldn't help but raise his hand and gently stroke Shi Wan's head.

A gentle touch startled Shi Wan awake.

She suddenly looked up at Sikong Jingyu and saw him staring at her.

Shi Wan breathed a sigh of relief; it was good that she was awake.

"Would you like some water?" Shi Wan asked.

Sikong Jingyu nodded.

Shi Wan poured water, raised the hospital bed, and handed the water to Sikong Jingyu. Perhaps moving his hand aggravated his shoulder wound, because Sikong Jingyu frowned and groaned.

Seeing that Sikong Jingyu was in pain, Shi Wan held up a cup and helped him drink water.

After drinking the water, Sikong Jingyu slowly opened her mouth, hesitating to speak: "Wanwan, do you have... painkillers?"

It was a while before I realized that three or four hours had passed since the debridement and suturing surgery, and the anesthesia was slowly wearing off. Sikong Jingyu probably woke up in pain.

"There's a pain pump." Shi Wan pressed the pain pump for her and dispensed some painkillers.

The night was tough. Even with a pain pump, Sikong Jingyu couldn't sleep because of the pain. Afraid that Shiwan would worry, he endured the pain all night until dawn, when he finally went with Shiwan to get some painkillers.

It wasn't until late that I learned he was in so much pain last night that he couldn't sleep.

Shi Wan dared not call Grandma Sikong to tell her, as Grandma Sikong was old and Shi Wan was afraid that she would have a high blood pressure attack if she got anxious.

Sikong Jingyu was injured because of her, so Shi Wan couldn't just ignore him and stayed by his side for another day.

The hospital was abuzz with rumors that someone had taken a knife for Shi Wan.

This person is none other than Sikong Jingyu, the richest man in Yuncheng. Rumors are circulating that Shi Wan is being kept by Sikong Jingyu... People are saying Shi Wan is really capable, a married woman managing to snag a handsome man like Sikong Jingyu... Others are saying Sikong Jingyu willingly became a mistress and broke up someone else's family...

There are many versions.

It was late, so I didn't pay much attention to it.

At this moment, Shi Wan was changing Sikong Jingyu's dressing.

Sikong Jingyu was the same; he didn't say he was injured earlier last night, and instead said some irrelevant things. If he had told me he was injured in time, he wouldn't have suffered hemorrhagic shock.

The wound is actually quite deep and long. Shi Wan spent a long time stitching it up on the operating table last night. Fortunately, it didn't damage the lungs or bones. Recovery may take two or three months, even if there is no tear.

"Why did you take the knife for me?" Shi Wan asked seriously, pursing her lips.

Sikong Jingyu stared at Shi Wan, his eyes deep and unfathomable: "I know how important hands are to a doctor, and how could I possibly watch you get hurt in front of me without doing anything? If one of us has to get hurt, I hope it's me."

Shi Wan lowered her eyes, her eyelashes fluttering slightly. After a moment, she raised her head and said earnestly, "Mr. Sikong, please don't do this again. You can't repay me for what you've done, and I can't reciprocate the feelings you desire."

Upon hearing Shi Wan's words, a dark glint flashed in Sikong Jingyu's eyes. He slightly curved his thin lips into a bitter smile: "I didn't ask you to repay anything, nor did I try to coerce you into giving me anything in return. Don't feel guilty."

She didn't answer at night, but how could she not feel guilty? Sikong Jingyu had risked his life to protect her last night.

This debt of gratitude is too heavy, so heavy that I don't know how I will ever be able to repay it.

Sikong Jingyu saw through Shi Wan's thoughts and changed to a way that she could accept, saying, "If you feel guilty, take good care of me until I recover. After I recover, we'll be even."

Upon hearing that the matter was settled, Shi Wan nodded in agreement: "Okay."

Sikong Jingyu gave a slight bitter smile; she still didn't want to have anything to do with him.

Sikong Jingyu originally thought that by using Shi Wan's care as an excuse, he and Shi Wan could spend more time together.

However, that was just his opinion.

For about a week, Shi was at work every night except when she brought him food.

Sikong Jingyu didn't know whether Shi Wan deliberately changed her shifts to avoid spending time with him, or whether she was really that busy every day.

"My sister isn't the type to take the initiative. If you want to pursue her, you'll have to be proactive."

Shi Yu's words echoed in Sikong Jingyu's ears.

Sikong Jingyu's brows relaxed. Since he was hospitalized, it was only reasonable for him to go see the doctor to discuss his condition.

Sikong Jingyu struggled to get out of bed and leave the ward.

"Hello, Dr. Shi!"

When Shi Wan ran out of printer paper in the office, she went to the storage room and encountered two young, tall, and burly security guards. The moment they saw her, they greeted her in unison.

They were so respectful and polite that Shi Wan could only nod and smile, politely replying, "Hello, thank you for your hard work!"

"It's not hard work, it's what we should do," one of the young security guards said honestly.

Shi Wan nodded and walked away quickly.

When Shi Wan reappeared in the emergency room corridor, she was carrying two stacks of printing papers. Just a few steps out of the storage room, the printing papers in Shi Wan's hands disappeared and appeared in the hands of the two security guards from before.

"This isn't heavy, I can do it myself, so don't bother me!" Shi Wan said awkwardly, reaching out to take the printed paper, but the two security guards avoided her.

Two security guards, holding the printed paper from Shi Wan's hands, respectfully said, "Dr. Shi is in charge of seeing patients. We'll handle this small matter. Please!"

As he spoke, the two security guards gestured for him to enter.

Judging from their actions, even if Shi Wan asked, they wouldn't return the printed paper to her. Shi Wan smiled awkwardly and went back to her office.
