Chapter 77: I Deserved It

"Wanwan, I'm sorry for what I did to you. I really know I was wrong and I regret it. I apologize to you for the ignorant person I was in the past, and I will make it up to you."

Sikong Jingyu tried to take Shi Wan's hand, but Shi Wan avoided him.

Sikong Jingyu withdrew his half-extended hand, lowered his head, his thin lips pressed tightly together, and his handsome features were tinged with unconcealed guilt.

"Okay, I accept your apology, but Mr. Sikong, I really don't need your compensation."

Shi Wan calmly refused, saying earnestly, "Mr. Sikong, please don't get involved in my affairs anymore."

Sikong Jingyu's eyes were filled with sorrow, and his voice was hoarse: "Wanwan, can't you really give me another chance? I didn't mean to, I just didn't know..."

Shi Wan interrupted Sikong Jingyu's next words and asked seriously, "Don't know what? Don't know that you will fall in love with me? If you don't fall in love with me, then your neglect of me over the past four years is what I deserve, right, Mr. Sikong?"

Shi Wan was right. If Sikong Jingyu hadn't fallen in love with her, he probably wouldn't have cared about her indifference over the past four years, or even ignored it.

Shi Wan was truly clear-headed; she saw right through his heart.

"I didn't do anything on purpose, but you ignored me for more than four years. Now that you've fallen in love with me, should I respond to your long-overdue love with tears of gratitude?"

Caught off guard, Sikong Jingyu froze. After a long while, he forced a bitter smile and said, "Wanwan, I never thought that way."

He now understands that four years have passed and Shi Wan no longer needs his care and protection. Even without him in the future, Shi Wan is independent and resilient and can get through it all on her own.

“You didn’t think that way, but that’s what you did, Mr. Sikong. Put away your affections. You can give them to anyone you want, except me,” Shi Wan said calmly.

What I originally wanted to say was, your deep affection, besides being given to me, who else should you give it to?

She had already saved face for Sikong Jingyu.

Was his deep affection so cheap in her eyes?

Sikong Jingyu's eyes were red, and she looked pitiful: "Wanwan, it hurts..."

Shi Wan paused for a moment before realizing that Sikong Jingyu had come to her specifically to change his medication, but instead had spent so much time talking about irrelevant things. He was a patient, and she shouldn't have been so emotional when she said these things to him.

Composing herself, Shi Wan calmly looked at Sikong Jingyu and said, "Let's go back to the ward to change the dressing."

Sikong Jingyu nodded, but at this moment, the pain was not in his wounds, but in his heart.

Shi Wan strode toward Sikong Jingyu's ward, and Sikong Jingyu followed closely behind, looking dejected.

The wound is healing very well. After changing the dressing, Shi Wan prescribed some painkillers for Sikong Jingyu. In a few more days, we'll discharge Sikong Jingyu, or transfer him to the trauma surgery department if there are beds available.

The ward was eerily quiet and awkwardly silent. You could hear each other breathing clearly. Changing dressings was also awkward, but Shi Wan had other things to do, unlike the current stalemate.

Before leaving, Shi Wan still said, "You should remove the people. What happened that day was an accident, not the norm."

The security guards who suddenly appeared in the department these past two days were not hard to guess; they were arranged by Sikong Jingyu.

Sikong Jingyu nodded silently, glancing cautiously at Shi Wanshi, as if afraid of angering her again.

Shi Wan pursed her lips. She could see Sikong Jingyu's cautious and humble demeanor at this moment. However, she had truly let go of this marriage and would never look back.

The next day.

On my way back to the office after finishing my rounds late at night, the corridor of the emergency department was bustling with activity. From afar, I saw eight impeccably dressed men in black suits, each holding a bouquet of red roses, standing ramrod straight, ready to wait.

It was late, and no one knew who this group of people were waiting for. But judging from their demeanor, they were definitely not ordinary people. However, such a thing in the hospital really disrupted the order and also affected the patients' rest.

Just as Shi Wan was about to walk around, she heard a male voice call out to her: "Shi Wan!"

Then, a figure darted out from among the eight men in black, running towards Shi Wan with great joy.

"Shi Wan!" Xu Weizhou exclaimed happily, handing the bright red rose in his hand to Shi Wan. The man in black beside him also handed a bright red rose to Shi Wan with a respectful posture.

Shi Wan froze, then asked uncertainly, "Young Master Xu, is this... for me?"

Shi Wan was taken aback. Had she somehow gotten herself involved in this whole mess?

"Don't call me Young Master Xu, call me husband!" Xu Weizhou said, coming over to put his arm around Shi Wan's shoulder.

Shi Wan slightly turned her body to avoid it.

Looking at the flowers, Shi Wan frowned slightly. "I'm sorry, Young Master Xu, I didn't quite understand what you meant."

"It's perfectly normal for a husband to give his wife flowers, what do you call that... a sense of ritual, that's it!" Xu Weizhou grinned and reached out to put his arm around Shi Wan's waist.

Shi Wan dodged away, frowning slightly: "Young Master Xu, please have some self-respect."

"Self-respect my ass! You're my wife now. What's wrong with me hugging you?" Xu Weizhou said in a roguish manner.

Wife?

When did she become Xu Weizhou's wife?

The marks between his eyebrows were even deeper that evening.

Hearing the commotion, Nie Shirong came out of her office and saw Xu Weizhou. Her face turned pale. Xu Weizhou had indeed mentioned on WeChat that he wanted to come to the hospital to see her... no, he wanted to see her at night. Nie Shirong had persuaded him to stay, but she hadn't expected him to suddenly come today, catching her completely off guard.

Nie Shirong's plan was to first appease Xu Weizhou, then invite the department staff to dinner one day, get him drunk, and send him to Xu Weizhou's bed.

Xu Weizhou has suddenly arrived, and Nie Shirong is at a loss for what to do!
