Chapter 14 I Won't Like You

Sikong Jingyu leaned back in his chair, his gaze fixed on Shi Wan, seemingly very casually.

Shi Wan lowered her head and carefully peeled off the dressing that she had just painstakingly applied, afraid of hurting him, and glanced at Sikong Jingyu from time to time.

"Is sewing absolutely necessary?" Sikong Jingyu suddenly asked.

Shi Wan stopped what he was doing and nodded.

"The wound is a bit deep. If it's not stitched up, it's likely to reopen and will be difficult to heal. Fortunately, the wound is located at the back, so stitching it up won't have much of an impact on my appearance."

Sikong Jingyu curled his lips in a cool, indifferent smile, his tone utterly flat: "Then let's sew it."

Shi Wan was taken aback. She thought Sikong Jingyu wouldn't agree, or at least, he wouldn't agree so easily.

With that, Shi Wan's doubts dissipated, and she immersed herself in the suturing. Ten minutes later, Shi Wan breathed a long sigh of relief, finally able to rightfully send Sikong Jingyu away.

After finishing the suture pack according to procedure, Shi Wan looked up at Sikong Jingyu and said sincerely, "Mr. Sikong, you can have your dressing changed at a hospital near you once a day. Eat a light diet and try not to wash your hair for the next few days. I wish you a speedy recovery!"

Sikong Jingyu raised an eyebrow: "You mean, I don't need to come to your hospital to change the dressing?"

"Yes, it's just a change of dressing. It can be done at any hospital, any hospital that's convenient for you," Shi Wan explained.

Sikong Jingyu stared at Shi Wan, his expression inscrutable. After a moment, he raised the corners of his lips and said, "Well, I wonder if your dean would praise you if he knew how much you care about the patients."

Shi Wan paused slightly, not expecting that Sikong Jingyu had understood her unspoken meaning. Shi Wan did hope that Sikong Jingyu would not come to their hospital again, so as to avoid running into him again.

Even if Sikong Jingyu figured it out, as long as she didn't admit it, what could he do? Shi Wan smiled faintly: "Mr. Sikong, my suggestion is only out of humanitarianism. Of course, the final choice is still yours."

Sikong Jingyu was puzzled by Shi Wan's words. He scrutinized Shi Wan as if trying to see through her.

She plotted to get into his bed, but always gave him the illusion that she was avoiding him.

"Please do as you please, Mr. Sikong."

Shi Wan lowered her head, avoiding Sikong Jingyu's gaze, and left.

As they approached the nurses' station, Sikong Jingyu's voice rang out from behind Shi Wan.

"Nie Shirong!"

When Shi Wan returned from her house call, Dr. Nie was already packing up to go home. During the house call, Si Kong Jingyu mistakenly thought she was Nie Shirong, so the Nie Shirong that Si Kong Jingyu was calling could only be Shi Wan.

Shi Wan suddenly stopped in her tracks, turned around, and saw Sikong Jingyu, who seemed to have followed her.

Shi Wan turned around and nodded politely: "Mr. Sikong."

Sikong Jingyu's long legs kept moving, approaching Shi Wan step by step without stopping. Shi Wan subconsciously retreated until she bumped into the wall, with nowhere left to retreat.

Shi Wan covered her chest with her hands: "Mr. Sikong!"

Sikong Jingyu looked down at Shi Wan, and seeing her wary movements, his face darkened: "Are you doing this on purpose?"

Shi Wan was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and asked, "May I ask, Mr. Sikong, what did I do on purpose?"

Shi Wan maintained a smile throughout, appearing gentle and harmless, yet it inexplicably irritated Sikong Jingyu.

"You've appeared before me time and time again, and this is your way of not making demands? Stop with your underhanded tricks. No matter what you do, I will never like you." Sikong Jingyu was secretly angry. He knew this was just her way of getting close to him by playing hard to get, but he couldn't control his emotions time and time again.

Shi Wan suddenly realized that Sikong Jingyu had misunderstood her several coincidental appearances.

Shi Wan couldn't help but chuckle.

When did she start asking him to like her?

It seems the CT scan didn't show all the problems; he needs a full brain checkup!

Slowing her pace, Shi Wan patiently explained, "Mr. Sikong, every time we meet, I have important matters to attend to, not because of you, and I do it on purpose."

This woman is used to putting on airs!

Sikong Jingyu scoffed coldly, his gaze fixed intently on her: "You don't need to explain these things to me. You know your own purpose. What do you want to gain by going to such lengths to get close to me?"

Shi Wan took a light breath, raised her eyes to meet Sikong Jingyu's sharp gaze, and a stubborn smile appeared on her lips.

“Mr. Sikong, I didn’t ask you to cause the car accident, did I? You called 120, didn’t you? Do you think I could know in advance when you would be in a car accident and then prepare to appear in front of you? My abilities are limited, and I may not be as powerful as Mr. Sikong imagines.”

Sikong Jingyu narrowed his eyes. This woman has grown bolder in just one day. She dares to talk back to him like this and even dares to question him.

Sikong Jingyu snorted coldly, a hint of sarcasm on her lips: "Sharp-tongued. You say you're innocent, then why don't you explain how you schemed to get into my bed that night?"

"design......"

Shi Wan repeated Sikong Jingyu's words, then smiled faintly: "How does Mr. Sikong know that I am not a part of your scheme? If I could, I would want to correct that night more than anyone else."

If Sikong Jingyu weren't her husband, and if she had known beforehand that he was coming back to divorce her, Shi Wan would never have been forced to have a relationship with him that night.

"What do you mean by that?" Sikong Jingyu's pupils shrank, a dangerous glint flashing in his eyes. Could it be that she wasn't the one who put the drug in the wine that night?

correct?

Is it shameful for her to have a relationship with him?

So many women want to get into his bed but never have the chance. She succeeded in getting into his bed, so what is she regretting now!

Evening couldn't reveal that the medicine was administered by Grandma Sikong, as that would undoubtedly expose her identity.

Shi Wan met Sikong Jingyu's gaze and said calmly and frankly, "I didn't mean anything by it. I can't explain what happened before in detail to you, but Mr. Sikong, you can rest assured that I am married and will not bother you anymore."

"You...are married?"

The shock in Sikong Jingyu's eyes was genuine.

So that night wasn't her first time?

The blood on the sheets... was it the first time he'd been so unrestrained that he'd suddenly made someone bleed?

"yes."

Upon hearing Shi Wan's answer, Si Kong Jingyu's suspense finally died. His first time had actually been given to a married woman.

But her reaction that night was clearly awkward, not at all like the reaction a seasoned married woman should have.

Sikong Jingyu's gaze shifted to Shi Wan's fingers. Her hands were clean, without any jewelry, let alone the symbolic item of a married person—a wedding ring.

Shi Wan thought to herself, "If I say this, Sikong Jingyu will surely believe me, and we can go our separate ways and not interfere with each other anymore."

How could someone as proud as Sikong Jingyu lower himself to get entangled with a married woman?

Sikong Jingyu scrutinized the woman before him, staring at her for a long while before suddenly chuckling, "You're quite the actress."

He doesn't believe it?
