Chapter 129 He Lingchuan, whom everyone hates

Zhou Mingyan looked at Shen Yanxi with some anxiety. He gripped Shen Yanxi's wrist tightly, as if he wanted to crush his bones.

He was so excited that he unconsciously turned up the volume, which He Lingchuan, who was standing to the side, heard clearly. He frowned and sneered, "Children are the most intelligent. The fact that they chose me is enough to show that they are more comfortable with me."

He Lingchuan stood up, one child in each arm. They had finally started to feel sleepy, so He Lingchuan decided to take them back to their rooms.

Before leaving the living room, he left with these words: "Zhou Mingyan, how can you say the children are happier with you? They have to go to the hospital every day because of their overthinking when they're with you. Do you really think they're happy?"

He Lingchuan's words struck a nerve with Zhou Mingyan, causing his hands to tremble and his eyes to fill with hatred as he looked at He Lingchuan.

"Don't look at me like that, it's a little scary."

He Lingchuan said this on purpose, successfully diverting Shen Yanxi's attention.

Shen Yanxi looked up into Zhou Mingyan's eyes and was startled.

This was the first time she had ever seen Zhou Mingyan with such a look in his eyes; his eyes were filled with hatred, and even a hint of murderous intent.

Shen Yanxi's shoulders trembled slightly. Zhou Mingyan clearly noticed the change in her emotions, took a deep breath, and his eyes softened considerably.

"Xixi, did I scare you just now? I was just too angry. Don't misunderstand me, I really didn't mean anything by it."

Zhou Mingyan nervously gripped Shen Yanxi's shoulders, afraid that Shen Yanxi would be completely disappointed in him because of just one look from him.

Fortunately, Shen Yanxi still had a strong bias towards him, and after he coaxed her a few times, she stopped doubting him.

Zhou Mingyan clenched his fists, staring in the direction He Lingchuan had left, his expression murderous.

...

The next morning, He Lingchuan planned to go to the company to continue to catch up on the progress, but was stopped by Shen Yanxi.

"The parent-child program is the day after tomorrow. Why aren't you staying home to familiarize yourself with the games the school has prepared? Why are you always running around outside?"

Shen Yanxi's eyes were full of suspicion. She moved closer to He Lingchuan and patted his shoulder with one hand: "You're not going to see Cao Xue, are you? He Lingchuan, didn't you promise me that you had no feelings for her? Let me tell you, with such a big age gap between you, if you really get together with her, that's against the law."

"I'm going to work."

He Lingchuan shook off Shen Yanxi's hand, his eyes filled with displeasure as he looked at her: "I owe so much money, how am I going to pay it off if I don't work?"

He also wanted to move out when he was able to, so that he could be alone with the children and completely separate from Shen Yanxi.

Sensing the dissatisfaction and sarcasm in his words, Shen Yanxi waved her hand, signaling the servants to close the door: "You don't need to pay back this money."

She pointed to the children's room: "Your task now is to help the children get familiar with the games so that they can stand out in the parent-child activities the day after tomorrow."

"That won't do."

Without a second thought, He Lingchuan refused Shen Yanxi outright: "I can't go back on my word. Besides, what's the point if you don't let me? Your relatives don't think that way."

All they thought about was their own losses; they showed no consideration for others.

Shen Yanxi frowned, as if to comfort He Lingchuan: "I will take care of my family members. You don't need to worry about them. You just need to take good care of the children."

"You want me to be a stay-at-home dad?"

In short, Shen Yanxi just wanted him to focus on taking care of the children at home.

Shen Yanxi frowned deeply, her eyes filled with displeasure: "Don't say such unpleasant things."

Isn't that so?

Aside from that, he really couldn't think of a reason to stay at home.

He Lingchuan looked down at Shen Yanxi: "I really don't understand. There are so many servants in the house, why do you insist that I stay here to take care of the two children? Of course, I am their father, and it is my duty to take care of them, but I just don't understand why I have to stay here during the day when they have to go to school?"

He Lingchuan grew angrier the more he thought about it. He felt like slapping himself for giving up his studies and career for Shen Yanxi.

“Chen Yanxi, I was once willing to give up everything to help you because I loved you, but I have no feelings for you now, so your words have no effect on me.”

He Lingchuan looked up as if he were looking at a stranger: "Aside from the child, we shouldn't have any further communication."

After saying that, He Lingchuan turned and left.

He arrived at the company on time, and as soon as he walked in, he was stopped by the manager.

He looked at He Lingchuan with some difficulty, his eyes full of helplessness: "There's something I want to tell you."

"What?"

He Lingchuan had a bad feeling. Sure enough, as soon as he looked up, he heard the manager say, "We can't keep you here. Check where your progress is. I'll settle all the previous payments for you."

"Why?"

He Lingchuan was somewhat annoyed. He tried to find out the truth: "There's nothing wrong with my project. If nothing unexpected happens, I can start testing next week. If all goes well, we can launch this technology in the third week. Why won't you let me do it?"

He did this project himself, and it's really hard for him to leave now.

He Lingchuan considered countless possibilities, the worst being that this person wanted to take over his project for himself.

He Lingchuan's tone was sharp, and he was no longer as polite as before. Instead, he was somewhat forceful: "Do you know that what you're doing is illegal? This doesn't comply with the rules of our contract."

"Did I break the law?"

The manager shook his head in anger, then laughed out loud: "Do you know how much damage you've done to our company's reputation? How much money have we spent on public relations for you, and you actually say I'm breaking the law? Keeping you here is a complete loss for us. We were supposed to make a little money when the project went public, but we've lost five million because of your public relations efforts. Pack your things and get out of here right now, and never come back."

"What public relations?"

He Lingchuan looked at the manager with a surprised expression. He hadn't offended anyone recently, so why did he need public relations?

The manager looked him up and down: "You really don't know?"

"If I had known, I wouldn't be standing here confronting you."

He Lingchuan just wanted to know what had happened. He looked at the manager anxiously and asked, "What exactly happened?"

Seeing that he genuinely seemed unaware of the situation, the manager showed him the chat logs with the media.

"See for yourself, He Lingchuan. I really didn't expect you to be so capable, managing to wipe out your entire class. Do you know what that means? It means you have a problem with your character. So, we shouldn't cooperate anymore."
