The next morning, He Lingchuan had already packed his luggage before the children got up. The children were still unable to accept the fact that he and Shen Yanxi were divorced. If they knew that he and Shen Yanxi were separated, they would definitely be even more unable to accept it.
As He Lingchuan moved his luggage, he wondered how to explain to the children that he was no longer living there.
He leaned against the car, wondering how to start the conversation, when he heard Zhou Mingyan's gloating tone: "What, you're leaving so soon?"
He looked smug, wearing a bathrobe and with wet hair, looking like he had just taken a shower.
He deliberately exposed his pectoral muscles under his bathrobe, making the red spots on his neck particularly noticeable: "I'm really sorry, this outfit doesn't cover my skin very well."
He Lingchuan's gaze swept over him from head to toe, and he said coldly, "Didn't you deliberately show this to me? Shen Yanxi isn't here right now, so what are you pretending for?"
Whenever He Lingchuan saw the marks on his body, he couldn't help but think about all the little things they had done together. He turned his head away, preferring not to see them.
But Zhou Mingyan just liked to hang around him. He deliberately leaned against He Lingchuan's car and asked him, "Are you sure you're just going to leave like this? Should I tell Xixi?"
Faced with his provocation, He Lingchuan raised his chin: "Fine, go tell them now."
Zhou Mingyan stood there, looking at him somewhat awkwardly.
"Why aren't you saying anything? Weren't you going to tell Shen Yanxi on me?"
He Lingchuan sat up and pushed his arm away: "Zhou Mingyan, don't think that just because I'm gone, Shen Yanxi will focus all her attention on you. You'd better watch yourself."
After settling his luggage, He Lingchuan went to Professor Zhao's house as soon as possible. He looked at Professor Zhao with a guilty expression and said, "Professor Zhao, it's all my fault. I've dragged you into this."
He only learned about Professor Zhao's resignation from the school from the news. He originally thought that by taking a leave of absence, he could let Professor Zhao continue to teach at the school. He never expected that Professor Zhao would give up his job to protect him.
He Lingchuan lowered his head, his hands clasped together. He didn't know what to say to express his guilt. He could never repay Professor Zhao for protecting him in his lifetime.
Professor Zhao reached out and gently patted He Lingchuan's shoulder: "What do you have to apologize for? I only stayed at the school for your sake. Now that you're no longer here, what am I still doing there?"
"But you were always at the school before I went there, you just weren't teaching any students. Now that you've resigned, this makes me..."
He Lingchuan didn't know what to say to express his guilt and helplessness. He took a deep breath, knelt on the ground and kowtowed several times: "Professor Zhao, it's all my fault. I've dragged you into this. I'm really sorry."
He Lingchuan remained lying on the ground, motionless.
Professor Zhao looked at He Lingchuan with a helpless expression, and finally could only order him to get up.
Even after Professor Zhao forcibly helped He Lingchuan up, he still had a furrowed brow.
"If you need anything from now on, just tell me. From today onwards, I am your son."
Professor Zhao and his wife never had children because they were focused on their research.
They have dedicated their lives to scientific research.
In fact, Professor Zhao usually treats him like his own child.
He Lingchuan looked at the person in front of him with great gratitude, and his guilt grew deeper and deeper.
Professor Zhao gently touched He Lingchuan's face: "As long as you study hard, I don't care what I do. Compared with those people, you are the student I value the most."
He Lingchuan stayed with Professor Zhao for almost half an hour. Just as he was about to leave, he received a call from the school principal.
He somehow found out that he was with Professor Zhao and ordered him to persuade Professor Zhao to go back to teaching.
The principal's voice was quite loud, and Professor Zhao heard it clearly.
He Lingchuan looked at Professor Zhao somewhat awkwardly: "I'm going out to take a call."
Give me the phone.
He Lingchuan tried to stop him, but Professor Zhao snatched his phone away.
His voice was stern, and he rebuked the principal impatiently: "What, all of you teachers and students have wronged me, and now you want me to go back to teaching? Don't even think about it. What am I supposed to do with those students? What were they thinking when they spread those rumors? Now they're worried? I don't care, and don't talk to me about it..."
By the time Professor Zhao finished talking with the principal, it was already dark.
Just as He Lingchuan was about to say goodbye to Professor Zhao, he heard a series of urgent knocks on the door.
He Lingchuan and Professor Zhao exchanged glances. He Lingchuan looked at the time and asked with a puzzled expression, "Could it be that Professor Zhao's wife has returned?"
"That's impossible. She should still be in the lab at this time. She's probably delivering packages."
Professor Zhao went out to open the door as he spoke, but He Lingchuan stepped forward first: "I'll open it..."
Before he could finish speaking, He Lingchuan let out a muffled groan as Professor Zhao watched as a knife pierced his chest.
His fingertips trembled as he looked at the person standing outside the door, his face turning pale: "Who are you?"
He roared and walked towards He Lingchuan. The man, as if he had gone mad, stood at the door laughing loudly: "You still say you're not biased? You don't even know who I am, you don't even remember my name, you only have eyes for He Lingchuan."
He shouted and pointed the knife at Professor Zhao again.
He Lingchuan shouted and lunged at Professor Zhao, knocking him to the ground and taking another stab wound to his back.
He Lingchuan raised his head, looked at the man whose eyes were bloodshot, and gasped for breath: "Xu Fei, how long are you going to stay so muddleheaded? Do you really want to go to jail?"
Xu Fei froze on the spot, slowing down the speed at which he drew his sword.
His actions were a belated torment for He Lingchuan.
He bit his lower lip, the taste of blood filling his mouth.
He Lingchuan was almost unconscious; his eyes were half-closed, and Xu Fei's figure was becoming increasingly blurry.
"Xu Fei, why are you doing this to yourself?"
Xu Fei stumbled and almost fell to the ground: "How do you know my name? Even Professor Zhao doesn't know it, how do you know?"
Professor Zhao, who had been tackled to the ground by He Lingchuan, stood up and looked at Xu Fei angrily: "Who said I don't know your name? I just didn't see your face clearly just now."
He walked towards Xu Fei, completely ignoring He Lingchuan's advice: "Put down your knife. Is this how you treat my students? Look at you now, full of hatred and anger. How can you face your parents? How can you face your own hard work?"
"Shut up."
Xu Fei roared, his hand trembling as he pointed at Professor Zhao: "You have the least right to say these things. I've become like this because of you."
