Chapter 153 Nan Chen Knows You're Injured

Shen Yanxi held Beichen protectively in her arms. She knelt down and anxiously checked Beichen's body: "Beichen, let Mom see if you're hurt? Is anything bothering you?"

Her brows were furrowed, but her tightly knit features slowly relaxed after her examination.

Seeing Shen Yanxi's solemn expression, Bei Chen hugged her neck and whispered in her ear, "Mom, I came to find Dad by myself. I miss Dad and I want to see him."

Shen Yanxi looked at He Lingchuan with a serious expression and suspicion, clearly not believing Bei Chen's words.

How did you find your way here?

“I heard you mention where Dad’s ward is, so I asked the nurse and found it.”

Bei Chen pouted and looked pitifully at Shen Yanxi: "Mom, Dad seems to be in a lot of pain. Let's take Dad back to his ward."

Upon hearing Bei Chen's words, Shen Yanxi realized that she had bumped into He Lingchuan in her haste.

She looked up, a hint of guilt in her eyes.

He Lingchuan was hunched over, his face pale.

Shen Yanxi's blow just now hit the wound on his shoulder, and he was in so much pain that his mouth was watering. If he hadn't been quick enough to grab the wall, he felt like he would have fallen down in the next second.

Noticing that something was wrong with him, Shen Yanxi stepped forward to check his injuries: "Are you alright? I didn't mean to."

"Of course I know you didn't do it on purpose."

He Lingchuan gritted his teeth, each word filled with anger: "You're just worried I'll take the child away and sell him, right?"

He Lingchuan snorted coldly, his eyes full of sarcasm as he looked at her: "You'd rather believe a man who lost his child once than believe me, the biological father. Shen Yanxi, you really are a good mother."

Shen Yanxi was speechless after hearing what he said. She felt embarrassed in front of Bei Chen.

She took a deep breath, trying to justify her actions.

"I just..."

"You don't need to say anything more. Of course I know what you mean. You're just worried that the people around me will hurt Beichen, aren't you?"

He Lingchuan took a deep breath. The pain made him unsteady on his feet. He had to get back to the ward immediately, afraid that he would collapse to the ground at any moment.

“Shen Yanxi, if I were really that kind of person, Nan Chen wouldn’t have only gotten into trouble now.”

If it were him, he would never leave a child alone in a restaurant.

“I clearly warned you not to leave the child with Zhou Mingyan, but you didn’t listen. I also warned you that there were some problems at the school recently and asked you to take good care of the child, but you didn’t listen. Now that something has happened, you’re saying it’s because I didn’t take good care of the child. Isn’t this just the guilty party accusing the innocent first?”

He Lingchuan gritted his teeth and stood firmly in front of Shen Yanxi.

He could vaguely see Shen Yanxi's helpless expression, but he didn't want to say anything more.

He looked at the person in front of him with a cold expression and said, "If you really care about the child, then take care of the child yourself; otherwise, hand the child over to me."

After saying that, He Lingchuan turned and left. Shen Yanxi stood behind him, watching him leave in a daze, not taking off her mask as she seemed to be thinking about something.

Fortunately, Gu Chengze noticed He Lingchuan was missing in time and came out to look for him; otherwise, He Lingchuan really wouldn't know how he would get back to his ward.

Gu Chengze helped the man to the bed, too lazy to scold him, only telling him to be careful of his wounds.

He Lingchuan stared at the ceiling and mechanically said, "I want to go see Nan Chen tomorrow."

He wasn't worried that Beichen wouldn't recognize him; his only worry now was Nanchen.

Hearing his words, Gu Chengze hesitated for a moment before speaking: "Are you sure you want to go see him now?"

As a brother, he believed that He Lingchuan should get away from this delightful person as soon as possible.

But from He Lingchuan's perspective, he must be feeling extremely guilty right now.

He Lingchuan said firmly, "Actually, I want to see him right now."

His attitude was firm, and Gu Chengze had no choice but to compromise: "In that case, I'll ask the doctor tomorrow?"

"good."

He Lingchuan knew he had caused Gu Chengze a lot of trouble, so he dared not make any more requests.

Thinking that Nan Chen was afraid of him, He Lingchuan didn't sleep well all night.

When he woke up the next day, he looked at the person sitting across from him with anticipation: "What did the doctor say?"

Gu Chengze put down his breakfast and said in a cool tone, "The doctor suggested that you rest for a while, and also give Nan Chen some time to face you."

Upon hearing this, He Lingchuan truly realized just how serious Gu Chengze's claim that Nan Chen was unwilling to acknowledge him really was.

He frowned and cautiously asked Gu Chengze, "Does Nan Chen really resent me now? Has he truly disowned me, or has he simply forgotten me?"

"You're his father, how could he possibly forget you?"

Gu Chengze looked at the people around him with a sense of helplessness.

He finished preparing breakfast and sat down next to He Lingchuan: "Nan Chen simply feels that he was kidnapped because of you, so he can't accept you right now."

He Lingchuan frowned, his heart filled with mixed feelings.

"Then, have you gone to see him? He really never asked me about me? Does he even know how badly I'm injured?"

He Lingchuan still held a sliver of hope. Nan Chen was such a kind child; if he knew how badly he was injured, he would surely be heartbroken.

He Lingchuan held a glimmer of hope in his heart, his eyes filled with expectation as he tightly grasped Gu Chengze's hand.

"He knows everything."

Even as he uttered those three words, Gu Chengze felt quite uneasy.

“Shen Yanxi should have told him about your injury. Judging from Shen Yanxi’s words, he himself didn’t want to come to see you.”

Gu Chengze grabbed He Lingchuan and said, "But this is all Shen Yanxi's side of the story. Don't take it too seriously, after all, I haven't met Nan Chen yet."

He had wanted to visit Nan Chen, but Shen Yanxi stopped him at the door.

It cannot be ruled out that Shen Yanxi and Zhou Mingyan were whispering in Nan Chen's ear.

Gu Chengze held He Lingchuan's hand and gently comforted him, "Don't worry, Nan Chen isn't a heartless child. If he knew how badly you were hurt, he would definitely feel sorry for you."

To reassure He Lingchuan, Gu Chengze used Bei Chen as an example: "Didn't Bei Chen see your wound? He will definitely tell Nan Chen, so Nan Chen will understand."

He Lingchuan frowned, still feeling uneasy, but he had no other choice.

Even if he goes to see Nan Chen now, Shen Yanxi will not agree.

He Lingchuan hung his head, looking utterly helpless: "I wish I could get better sooner."

He began to blame himself, even feeling useless.

Gu Chengze looked at him helplessly, unsure how to comfort him.

The ward fell silent for a moment until Cao Xue suddenly pushed open the door, ran to He Lingchuan's side and sobbed, and He Lingchuan finally looked up.
