Shen Yanxi felt even more aggrieved. She pouted and her eyes were red.
"He Lingchuan, don't go too far. When have I ever suffered such injustice?"
Since they got married, He Lingchuan has always been the one following in her footsteps. How come it's the other way around now?
He Lingchuan ignored her, braced himself on the ground with his hands, and tried to get up, but it was no use.
He frowned as he looked at the buttons on the bedside table, trying to reach out, only to find that he couldn't touch them at all.
Seeing his clumsy appearance, Shen Yanxi felt a little soft-hearted. She stepped forward to help him up, but Zhou Mingyan stopped her.
"Xixi, I'm coming."
He stepped forward and pushed Shen Yanxi behind him.
Before He Lingchuan could refuse, Zhou Mingyan reached through his chest with both hands and used his strength to lift He Lingchuan off the ground.
That's right, he lifted it up. He Lingchuan felt like he was being lifted up like a pot lid.
To maintain his balance, He Lingchuan had to use his injured foot to support himself on the ground. He couldn't help but cry out, and after standing up straight, he immediately pushed Zhou Mingyan away.
"ah……"
Zhou Mingyan staggered back a few steps, his back almost touching the cabinet behind him.
Shen Yanxi immediately ran over to check and found that his back was covered in bruises.
"He Lingchuan, what are you doing? Mingyan kindly helped you up, and this is how you repay him?"
"Help him? I think this is murder."
He Lingchuan braced himself against the table behind him, his face turning pale: "If I hadn't been quick enough to push you away, I'm afraid my foot would have been fractured a second time."
His eyes widened, his gaze towards Zhou Mingyan filled with intense hatred: "This is attempted murder, I can sue you."
Zhou Mingyan's expression immediately turned serious. He frowned and his face turned pale: "You have no evidence. This is a false accusation."
"Whether it's a false accusation or not, the police have the final say."
He Lingchuan's expression was serious, and his tone was sharp: "I advise you to find a reliable lawyer as soon as possible and see if they can help you clear your name."
After He Lingchuan's car accident, he asked Gu Chengze to investigate the matter. He hasn't given him an answer yet, but he trusts Gu Chengze's abilities and believes he will definitely find out the truth.
He Lingchuan spoke with great confidence, as if he had already obtained the evidence and was just waiting for the appeal to decide the outcome.
Zhou Mingyan panicked for a moment, but when Shen Yanxi looked over, he immediately calmed down and responded calmly, "You're slandering me. I'm not afraid of you."
He stood up straight, looking like he had nothing to hide.
He Lingchuan found it amusing. He sneered and looked at Zhou Mingyan with a sarcastic expression.
Shen Yanxi watched the two of them bickering, her expression growing increasingly serious: "Enough, both of you, stop arguing."
She stood between the two men, looking at the bruises on Zhou Mingyan's back and then at the injury on He Lingchuan's foot: "You're both injured. If you ask me, let's just let this matter go."
“His injuries are different from mine.”
He Lingchuan's face instantly darkened. He immediately understood what Shen Yanxi meant: "Shen Yanxi, I have no objection to you wanting to protect him, but you should consider who you are protecting. He is a murderer."
Upon hearing these three words, Shen Yanxi's expression immediately changed. She glared angrily at He Lingchuan and said, "You're framing me."
Shen Yanxi grabbed Zhou Mingyan's hand and walked out, her face turning pale with anger: "He Lingchuan, you don't appreciate kindness, you'll get your comeuppance one day."
She grabbed Zhou Mingyan, pushed open the door, and left, completely disregarding He Lingchuan's life or death.
Once Shen Yanxi and Zhou Mingyan had completely disappeared from his sight, He Lingchuan sat back down on the hospital bed.
He took a deep breath, and the pain struck. He clenched his teeth, making a grinding sound. His forehead was covered in sweat, and his body was soaked. Even so, he could not resist the pain coming from his calf.
"Doctor, doctor..."
He Lingchuan's voice was very weak. He forced himself to ring the doorbell, and less than ten minutes later, a group of doctors rushed in.
Seeing the person in the white coat, He Lingchuan felt relieved and fell asleep.
When He Lingchuan woke up the next day, he found that his calves felt very light.
He suddenly opened his eyes, and Gu Chengze was standing in front of him with a worried look on his face.
"You're finally awake. I thought you were going to sleep until the next day."
Upon hearing Gu Chengze's words, He Lingchuan vaguely recalled what had happened the previous night.
He looked around, a puzzled expression on his face: "Where is Shen Yanxi?"
"You're still looking for her? You almost lost your life because of her, do you know that?"
Gu Chengze was so angry that his chest ached. He gestured toward the door and said softly, "If Cao Xue hadn't been here taking care of you, would you be able to sleep so soundly?"
"Cao Xue is here too? Who sent her?"
Wasn't she searching for a heart donor? Wasn't her current task to find a match? What's she doing here?
Seeing his pale face, Gu Chengze assumed he hadn't rested well and quickly pressed him onto the bed: "People came because they were worried about you, why are you so agitated?"
He Lingchuan stared blankly at the person in front of him, looking puzzled: "Her sister asked her to come over?"
Gu Chengze was completely bewildered and couldn't understand what he was saying at all.
"I don't know what you mean, but if you have any questions for her, wait until she comes in."
A few minutes later, Cao Xue came over carrying a bowl of chicken soup.
She sat shyly in front of He Lingchuan's bed. Looking at her flushed cheeks, He Lingchuan began to recall what had happened after he fell into a coma.
Did Cao Xue come then? He probably didn't do anything out of line.
He racked his brains trying to recall what had happened, but before he could figure it out, he heard Cao Xue call out to him, "Brother Lingchuan, this is chicken soup I made myself, have a taste."
He Lingchuan looked up somewhat awkwardly, only to find that the blush on Cao Xue's face had long since faded, and her expression was normal.
Am I overthinking things?
Actually, Cao Xue didn't have any other feelings for him at all? He Lingchuan slapped his forehead, regretting his wild guess about Cao Xue.
Maybe he sees the other person as an older brother, but instead of being grateful, he makes wild guesses about them.
He Lingchuan looked at Cao Xue with some guilt, his tone becoming much gentler and more natural: "How did you get here? Shouldn't you be at the hospital right now?"
Cao Xue lowered her head, feeling somewhat guilty, her eyes darting around: "I sneaked over here."
Fearing that He Lingchuan would get agitated, Cao Xue quickly stopped him: "Don't get agitated, and don't tell my sister, or she'll scold me to death."
"Since you knew that, why did you still come?"
He Lingchuan started coughing, his chest aching from anger at Cao Xue: "Can't you take better care of your health?"
