Chapter Eight, even if I say it a hundred times, it's still the same.

"I don't want to argue with people who lack manners."

Zhou Mingyan's face had been alternating between pale and flushed since earlier. He needed to maintain his image in front of Shen Yanxi, so he could only endure all the insults and sarcasm.

He squeezed Shen Yanxi's arm, pretending to mediate, but actually fanning the flames: "Xixi, don't be angry. If I hadn't suddenly come back, your relationship wouldn't have gotten so bad. I should scold you."

"You definitely deserve to be scolded."

Gu Chengze didn't give Shen Yanxi a chance to comfort him at all. He picked up where Zhou Mingyan left off, looked at the almost healed wound on his face and sneered: "A man acting as delicate as a woman, you really embarrass us men."

He Lingchuan didn't say a word from beginning to end. He looked at Shen Yanxi and Zhou Mingyan's intertwined wrists and felt as if his heart had been stabbed.

He could barely feel the pain in the back of his head; his mind was filled with images of Shen Yanxi protecting Zhou Mingyan.

Out of sight, out of mind. He tugged at Gu Chengze's sleeve: "My wound hurts, let's go get it bandaged."

This argument could go on forever. Gu Chengze was still angry, but he immediately calmed down after hearing what he said.

"You're lucky today."

He glared at Zhou Mingyan, then helped He Lingchuan walk into the ward.

They turned around, and Shen Yanxi finally saw the wound on the back of He Lingchuan's head.

How did you get injured?

He Lingchuan was somewhat surprised. He stopped and looked back at Shen Yanxi with a puzzled expression: "You're asking me?"

How could he possibly care about himself?

It should be doubt and curiosity!

"Are there other people here?"

Shen Yanxi's tone was somewhat irritated. He looked at the wound on the back of He Lingchuan's head, and then at Zhou Mingyan.

I have a bold guess in my mind.

But she didn't dare ask. Her lips twitched slightly, and she felt inexplicably guilty.

Seeing his hesitant and reluctant manner, Gu Chengze couldn't help but say, "Don't you know what happened? If it weren't for Ling Chuan, you'd be the one with your head split open right now."

Gu Chengze has a straightforward personality, and he doesn't indulge Shen Yanxi at all.

“Lingchuan has a good temper, but I do. He has sacrificed so much for you, yet you treat him like an ingrate, ignoring him completely. And that’s not all. Lingchuan was seriously injured for you, yet you still ignored him and brought a male lover here to get him bandaged up. Look at the wounds on his face; they’ll be healed in a little while.”

Gu Chengze grew angrier as he spoke, as if he were on fire.

Shen Yanxi felt a little guilty when she saw the wounds on He Lingchuan's body. She originally planned to take good care of her, but when she heard Gu Chengze speak, the guilt in her heart immediately disappeared.

She stretched out a hand to block Zhou Mingyan: "How dare you talk like that? This isn't Mingyan's fault. Apologize to Mingyan right now."

"Am I wrong? A man who needs a woman to protect him, what is he if not a weakling?"

Gu Chengze becomes stronger when faced with a strong opponent, especially when dealing with someone as unreasonable as him.

"I don't want to argue with you, but that doesn't mean I don't have a temper. Apologize to me right now."

"impossible."

He Lingchuan's cold and harsh voice came from the side.

He originally intended to let the matter drop, but it was Shen Yanxi who went too far.

He stepped forward, enduring the pain in his head.

"Chengze just felt it was unfair to me, what did he do wrong?"

"What did you say? He Lingchuan, I'm giving you one more chance. Think it over before you talk to me again."

Shen Yanxi stood high above, as if the person standing in front of her was his slave.

He Lingchuan sneered: "Say it a hundred times and it will be the same. Chengze will never apologize. You are the ones who are in the wrong."

Gu Chengze was right. Shen Yanxi was an ungrateful wolf. He was disheartened and no longer had any expectations.

Shen Yanxi stared at him with wide eyes.

Just as she was about to speak, He Lingchuan suddenly groaned, the pain in the back of his head growing stronger and stronger, and the smell of blood becoming more and more intense.

He instinctively gripped Gu Chengze's wrist, clearly in too much pain to hold on.

Shen Yanxi suddenly panicked. She subconsciously stepped forward to help He Lingchuan, but the person next to her walked out first.

"Mr. He, there may be a misunderstanding between us. Please don't act rashly, or you might aggravate your wound."

Don't give me that.

He Lingchuan forcefully pushed away the outstretched hand, the crisp sound clearly audible in the quiet corridor.

In an instant, Zhou Mingyan's hand turned red.

"Mingyan, are you alright?"

Zhou Mingyan drew Shen Yanxi's attention, shook his head, and said somewhat aggrievedly, "Mr. He, you really misunderstood me."

"Mingyan, don't talk to him anymore."

Shen Yanxi took Zhou Mingyan's hand and pulled him aside: "Let him do whatever he wants, don't worry about him."

Shen Yanxi felt that He Lingchuan's current reaction was a sign of pushing his luck.

The trace of guilt in her heart vanished without a trace.

"Who needs your fake kindness?"

Gu Chengze walked between the two, bumped Zhou Mingyan's shoulder hard, and as he passed by, he said sarcastically, "A mistress, trash."

They walked further and further away, but Shen Yanxi's gaze lingered on them.

Zhou Mingyan looked at her and coughed twice: "Xixi, why don't you go and take a look?"

"I'm not going."

Shen Yanxi held Zhou Mingyan's hand: "He's just being dramatic. Why is a grown man so delicate?"

Zhou Mingyan's eyes flickered, and he merely bit his lower lip.

Shen Yanxi was talking to herself, completely unaware of his gaze.

They went to the ward next to He Lingchuan's to wait for the nurse to pick up the prescribed medicine.

Zhou Mingyan casually mentioned the graduate student matter: "Xixi, there's something I want to tell you."

He stammered, his head bowed, looking embarrassed.

"What is it? If you need my help..."

"I don't need your help. I don't dare to ask because I'm worried you'll look down on me."

Zhou Mingyan raised his head, his eyes brimming with tears, sending a shiver down one's spine.

Shen Yanxi was no exception. Her voice was gentle, as if she wanted to cherish Zhou Mingyan: "Just tell me directly."

"I'm just guessing, and I'm not even sure. After I tell you, don't cause trouble for Mr. He."

Zhou Mingyan deliberately kept He Lingchuan in suspense.

As expected, Shen Yanxi's face darkened instantly after he said the name.

"How is this related to him again? Did he cause you trouble? Or is it someone close to him?"

That man didn't look like a good person at all, Shen Yanxi couldn't help but complain: "I have to remind He Lingchuan to stay away from her."

The subconscious connection between Shen Yanxi and Zhou Mingyan made Zhou Mingyan somewhat flustered.

He forced himself to calm down and slowly said, "My graduate student spot has been taken. I heard from a friend today that Mr. He just submitted his graduate student application today. He didn't even go through the formalities and became Professor Zhao's student."
