Chapter Sixty-Eight: The Strange Woman

Shen Yanxi tilted her head back, her face full of righteousness.

She didn't think there was anything wrong with what she did.

He Lingchuan turned around and kicked open the door to vent his anger. He took a deep breath and questioned Shen Yanxi in a low voice: "Why did you send the child away without my consent?"

The idea that he can't take care of the child in his current state is all nonsense.

He Lingchuan ran downstairs quickly and grabbed Shen Yanxi's shoulders tightly: "I will pick up the child tonight. Please inform your mother."

Shen Yanxi looked at He Lingchuan quietly, her eyes cold as if the matter had nothing to do with her.

"Did you hear me?"

He Lingchuan couldn't help but tighten his grip, and Shen Yanxi frowned and cried out in pain, "You're hurting me, let go of me."

She screamed, but He Lingchuan seemed to have lost his mind, pressing her against the wall: "I told you to bring the child back."

Shen Yanxi felt as if He Lingchuan was pushing her against the wall. She was in so much pain that tears streamed down her face, but she couldn't break free. She could only shout, "What's wrong with you? You'll hurt me! Let me go!"

Shen Yanxi raised her foot to kick He Lingchuan, but He Lingchuan remained unmoved.

Shen Yanxi only relaxed when Zhou Mingyan heard the noise, ran over, and pulled He Lingchuan away.

She gasped for breath and demanded of He Lingchuan, "What are you doing? Are you crazy?"

Zhou Mingyan held Shen Yanxi in his arms and gently patted her back to help her catch her breath.

Looking at their affectionate demeanor, He Lingchuan gave a self-deprecating laugh: "I'm crazy. You sent my child away, how could I not be crazy?"

Shen Yanxi frowned and subconsciously explained, "I just asked them to stay at my mother's for a few days. Don't take things out of context."

She was panting heavily. Shen Yanxi had indeed been frightened by He Lingchuan just now, and she was still feeling lingering fear.

Zhou Mingyan, always eager for drama, joined in the criticism of He Lingchuan: "Mr. He, what kind of husband are you? It's one thing to not care about Xixi, but how could you be so violent towards her?"

He Lingchuan remained silent and made no attempt to explain himself.

"He is mentally disabled."

Shen Yanxi continued Zhou Mingyan's words. She was angry and spoke without thinking: "It's a good thing I sent the child away, otherwise I would have been beaten to death by this mentally disabled person."

He Lingchuan clenched his fists, his heart growing colder as he listened to Shen Yanxi's slander against him.

He had long been disappointed in Shen Yanxi, and now he was even more desperate.

He Lingchuan left the villa without saying a word, under the watchful eyes of the two men.

He now looks like a walking corpse, wandering aimlessly through the streets.

Will Shen Yanxi bring the child back after sending him away? Based on his understanding of Shen Yanxi, he knows he will most likely never see the child again after this.

He Lingchuan felt a pang of heartache, as if a giant hand had gripped his heart and was pulling it outwards with force.

As He Lingchuan passed by the river in the park, he suddenly stopped and listened to the sound of the flowing water. His heart gradually calmed down.

He looked down at the stream and felt a strange sense of relief.

He Lingchuan planned to leave after he had completely calmed down. He looked at the time and from a distance, he looked like a pitiful person who couldn't think straight and was planning to commit suicide.

He Lingchuan had no idea that he was perceived this way by others until a girl in a sundress took the initiative to talk to him.

"If you're feeling down, I can chat with you."

He Lingchuan looked surprised. He looked the girl up and down. She had fair skin, a petite figure, and delicate features. Judging from her clothes and speech, she should also be a young lady from a wealthy family.

When she got close to him, He Lingchuan could faintly smell the fragrance of flowers emanating from her hair.

The girl extended her hand and said, "My name is Cao Xue, you can just call me Xiao Cao."

She moved closer to He Lingchuan, trying to ease the slightly awkward atmosphere between them: "You're so handsome, what's bothering you? If you're really unhappy, talk to me, maybe I can give you some advice."

How can you comfort me?

He Lingchuan was completely confused. He could tell that Xiao Cao was a good person, but why was she telling him all this?

"How can I comfort you? Let me think."

Xiao Cao racked her brains but still couldn't come up with a solution, so she simply said what she was thinking: "It's okay if no one can comfort you. You're so young, you have a long road ahead of you. It would be such a waste to die like this."

Dead? Young? What lies ahead?

He Lingchuan pieced together the reason why Xiao Cao had suddenly come over and started talking to him from these words. He couldn't help but chuckle, and looked at Xiao Cao with a hint of warmth and kindness in his eyes: "You thought I was going to commit suicide?"

He Lingchuan pointed to the stream in front of him: "Do you think anyone could die here?"

Xiao Cao looked over, then stuck out his tongue somewhat awkwardly: "I was in such a hurry, I really didn't notice."

Xiao Cao patted He Lingchuan on the shoulder: "But since you don't mean it that way, I'm relieved."

Her words were like a spring breeze, stirring the barren grassland.

He Lingchuan smiled with relief: "However, I'm not in a very good mood."

He paused, and seeing that Xiao Cao was about to say something to comfort him, he spoke first, "It's good that you're here. Thank you for comforting me."

Xiao Cao scratched his head somewhat embarrassedly: "Actually, I didn't really offer much guidance."

The conversation went much more smoothly after that, and He Lingchuan learned during the chat that she was actually the younger sister of Shen Yanxi's best friend.

He was somewhat surprised, never expecting that Shen Yanxi's best friend would have such a kind-hearted younger sister.

They became increasingly opportunistic, and He Lingchuan even considered exchanging contact information.

But thinking about their relationship, it doesn't seem quite right.

He Lingchuan smiled, and his gaze toward Xiao Cao grew increasingly gentle.

He has a very handsome smile, even Shen Yanxi, who doesn't like him, thinks so.

Seeing He Lingchuan's unsmiling expression, Shen Yanxi was furious: "Who is this woman?"

This was the first time she had ever seen He Lingchuan smile at a woman other than her.

She and Zhou Mingyan originally planned to call the person back for a proper talk, but they didn't expect to encounter this scene.

"They don't look like they just met; they've probably been in contact for a while."

No sooner had Zhou Mingyan finished speaking than Shen Yanxi rushed forward.

She stood in front of He Lingchuan, raising her head arrogantly: "He Lingchuan, what is your relationship with this woman?"

Shen Yanxi did not control her volume, which attracted a lot of onlookers.

Why are you here?

He Lingchuan looked surprised, then sneered after glancing at Zhou Mingyan out of the corner of his eye: "Here for a date?"

"Do you think I'm like you? You don't even care about your children, all you do is chat and laugh with women outside."

He Lingchuan frowned, about to retort, when he heard Xiao Cao speak up from the side: "You must be Sister Xixi, right? You've misunderstood, Brother Lingchuan and I are just ordinary friends."

"You call me so affectionately, yet you claim to be just ordinary friends. Do you think I'd believe that?"
