Chapter Thirty-Eight Misunderstanding

He stood between He Lingchuan and Shen Yanxi with a wronged look on his face, appearing like a victim.

"rhetoric."

That's enough.

Shen Yanxi interrupted He Lingchuan sharply: "When are you going to stop making a scene?"

She moved closer to Zhou Mingyan, hugged the two children, and seemed very disappointed in him: "If it weren't for Mingyan, where would you find so much time to go out and work? And do research? You don't even thank him, and now you're accusing him. Don't think I don't know you're just jealous, He Lingchuan. I'm letting you off the hook for the sake of the two children, but you're getting more and more demanding."

He Lingchuan's explanation caught in his throat: "I'm not letting them eat this junk food for their own good. Have you forgotten what they used to be like..."

I don't want to hear your reasons.

Shen Yanxi squatted down and gently wiped away the tears of the two children: "You should reflect on your actions at home. Once you've figured it out, come and apologize to Mingyan."

"Xixi, no need. It was indeed my oversight. Let's just forget about it."

Zhou Mingyan lowered his head, holding Shen Yanxi's wrist with one hand, indicating to her to let it go.

"How can we let it go? You've suffered so much injustice."

"Xixi, I don't want to affect your married life."

Zhou Mingyan showed a pained and helpless expression. He glanced at He Lingchuan and looked pitiful: "Mr. He, as long as you and Xixi are okay, as long as you treat him well, I can never appear in front of you again."

After saying that, he turned and left, ignoring Shen Yanxi's calls from behind.

"hypocritical."

He Lingchuan's eyes were full of mockery. Anyone can put on an act.

"He Lingchuan, don't go too far. Stay home and reflect on your actions. If you don't reflect properly, don't come to see me."

After saying the last word, Shen Yanxi rushed out to chase after He Lingchuan without hesitation.

"We don't want you, hmph."

The children all shouted in unison and ran out with Shen Yanxi.

Watching the three of them leave, He Lingchuan gave a self-deprecating smile: "Let's go, it's better if they all leave."

It was raining heavily outside, and He Lingchuan's heart was clenched with anxiety, unable to calm down for a long time.

He told them to leave, but in reality, he would go out and wait for them every half hour, and each wait would last for ten minutes.

No matter how the housekeeper tried to persuade him to come back, it was no use.

Shen Yanxi did not return home all night.

He also caught a cold and had a fever. He had just felt a little better in the morning when he called Shen Yanxi again.

"What's up?"

Thinking about the project and how she still needed Shen Yanxi's help, she suppressed her discomfort and resentment and asked, "When are you coming back?"

"You've come to your senses? You're planning to apologize to Mingyan?"

He Lingchuan remained silent, waiting for a long time without receiving a reply. Shen Yanxi showed no mercy, saying, "Call me whenever you've made up your mind."

"I really am..."

"Xixi, look at Nanchen, how smart he is! He learned this game so quickly."

"Dad Zhou, can you teach me to play something else?"

From Shen Yanxi's side came the cheerful laughter of Zhou Mingyan and the children.

In the past, when Nan Chen and Bei Chen were with him, he always had a gloomy face, was bossy, and never gave them a kind look.

Their attitude towards themselves was completely different from their attitude towards Zhou Mingyan.

He Lingchuan felt a little disappointed, but he still reminded Shen Yanxi: "Nanchen and Beichen are still young. Don't let them play games for too long. It's bad for their eyes."

Why do you talk so much?

Shen Yanxi gradually became impatient. The noise coming from her side was getting louder and louder. She finally found a quiet corner, but then she heard He Lingchuan coughing.

"Stop playing the victim here. Nan Chen and Bei Chen are none of your business. You're always so controlling of them, no wonder they're not close to you."

He Lingchuan tightened his grip on the phone. Wasn't their lack of closeness to him because of her?

If Shen Yanxi hadn't ignored her, how could they have followed suit?

He Lingchuan sighed and didn't say anything more: "Then have fun."

Since it's not his responsibility, he won't interfere anymore.

Whatever problems Nanchen and Beichen encounter in the future, it will have nothing to do with him.

He Lingchuan lay in bed for a while, feeling a bit sweaty, and forced himself to get up and make instant noodles despite feeling unwell.

He doesn't have much of an appetite now; he only eats to maintain his strength.

He had just boiled water when he heard the knock on the door.

"Xiao Zhou? What brings you here?"

Xiao Zhou is Shen Yanxi's assistant. She has been with Shen Yanxi for a long time and knows about their relationship.

"I'm here to pick up something. Why is your face so red?"

Xiao Zhou has witnessed their relationship over the years and wanted to help, but feelings are not something that can be explained in a few words.

He Lingchuan thanked her; she was one of the few people who respected him.

"It's nothing, I just have a slight fever."

As soon as Xiao Zhou entered the room, he saw the instant noodle container on the table: "How can you eat this? Let me cook you something."

He Lingchuan wanted to refuse, but he really hadn't eaten anything all day.

"Just cook me some porridge."

Last night, the servants in the house followed him back and forth several times in the rainy night, so he simply let them go home and rest.

Even if they were there, they wouldn't care about me.

After all, given Shen Yanxi's attitude towards him, the servants in the household also treated him with indifference.

Once a bowl of porridge was ready, Xiao Zhou stood respectfully beside him, showing no intention of leaving.

"Weren't you here to pick something up for Shen Yanxi?"

Xiao Zhou was a little stunned. He didn't expect that He Lingchuan wouldn't even call her "wife" anymore.

Noticing his gaze, He Lingchuan gave a self-deprecating laugh: "We're divorced, there's no need to call each other so intimately."

Xiao Zhou expressed his understanding, knowing that there was nothing he could do there, and quickly ran up to the room to retrieve the documents.

Before leaving, he asked He Lingchuan with some doubt, "Should I tell President Shen?"

Is she referring to her fever?

He Lingchuan looked at him and shook his head: "There's no need."

Xiao Zhou wanted to say something, but He Lingchuan raised his hand to stop him: "Go quickly, it will be troublesome if you are late."

After Xiao Zhou left, He Lingchuan lay on the sofa, feeling drowsy. He drank a bowl of hot porridge, and his body did feel much better.

He slowly closed his eyes; it was rare for him to be free from work, so he decided to take a day off.

He Lingchuan had only been asleep for a short while when his cell phone rang, waking him up.

Seeing the caller ID, he was a little surprised: "What's up?"

"Come to the company."

Shen Yanxi's voice was sharp, as if she had encountered something.

He Lingchuan paused, noticing the commotion on the other end. He felt a little uneasy: "What happened?"

Thinking of his two children, He Lingchuan's face turned even paler: "Has something happened to the children?"

"It has nothing to do with the child. You'll see when you get here. Hurry up and don't make me rush you."
