He Lingchuan's features contorted, his expression strange: "Why should I listen to you?"
"You are the father of my child."
"So what? Your reason doesn't hold water, or are you saying you still have feelings for me?"
He Lingchuan gave a self-deprecating laugh, his eyes full of mockery.
Shen Yanxi had no intention of answering him; she left after the kiss.
For an entire day, He Lingchuan was immersed in Shen Yanxi's inexplicable kiss.
The next morning when he got up to fetch water, he clearly felt a strong sense of hatred, not just from one person, but from everyone who saw him.
He was baffled and intended to ignore it, but a young man blocked his way at the ward door.
"You're shameless, doing this kind of thing at such a young age."
The boy looked young, but he glared at He Lingchuan through gritted teeth.
What did I do to you?
He Lingchuan was puzzled. Was he a relative of that girl?
"Don't think I don't know you've been seducing Miss Shen in private, you shameless male homewrecker."
The boy became more and more agitated as he spoke, and even spat out a mouthful of liquid.
Even with his good temper, He Lingchuan couldn't hold back any longer. He closed the door to prevent the children from seeing what was happening outside, stepped forward, and confronted the boy: "You need to take responsibility for your words. What do you mean by 'male third party'?"

A sharp female voice cut through the crowd, and He Lingchuan knew who it was without even looking.
Shen Yanxi, wearing high heels and carrying toys she had bought for the children, walked over on her own.
"Who said he was a mistress?"
Shen Yanxi exuded a fierce aura; she simply stood there, and the oppressive feeling emanating from her made it hard to breathe.
She stretched out a hand to block He Lingchuan: "Who said he's a mistress? Who said I married Zhou Mingyan? Keep spreading rumors, or I'll send you a lawyer's letter."
They're just here to join in the fun; there's no need for them to get into legal trouble.
By the time Shen Yanxi uttered the words "lawyer's letter," most of the people had already left.
In less than ten minutes, all the onlookers had left, leaving only He Lingchuan and Shen Yanxi at the door of the ward.
He Lingchuan looked at Shen Yanxi, who was protecting him, with a puzzled expression.
What exactly do you want to do?
How could Shen Yanxi possibly stand up for him? Given her personality, she'd rather be humiliated herself.
"Is it wrong for me to help you?"

Shen Yanxi felt a lump in her throat. She thought about it and realized that she really didn't know where she had lost her ring, and she wouldn't be able to find it even if she went back to look for it.
He Lingchuan has indeed been working very hard taking care of the children lately. Shen Yanxi hesitated for a moment, then tentatively asked, "If you like them, we can buy another pair..."

Shen Yanxi's good attitude ended there. She remained aloof as before, her fingertips tapping lightly on the table: "You really want to abandon the child?"
She didn't believe He Lingchuan was so cold-blooded and ruthless.
He Lingchuan paused in his coffee cup-holding motion, then gave a self-deprecating laugh: "They don't like me anyway."
He recalled how his two children spoke up for Zhou Mingyan, and hardened his heart: "After they are discharged from the hospital, find someone to take good care of them. Don't come to me unless it's something important."
Shen Yanxi paused: "Are you determined to leave?"
He Lingchuan was completely bewildered by her question: "What, you can't bear to part with me?"
Shen Yanxi choked up, and casually made up an excuse: "You're overthinking it."
After finishing their coffee, the two returned to the hospital one after the other. As soon as they went down the stairs, He Lingchuan saw Zhou Mingyan standing at the door of the ward.
His eyes were filled with anger, as if they could breathe fire.
"Xixi, where did you go?"
Zhou Mingyan held Shen Yanxi's hand, a look of worry crossing his face.
"I'm going out for a walk."
Shen Yanxi patted the back of his hand trying to comfort him, but Zhou Mingyan was full of jealousy: "Going out with him?"
He Lingchuan's hand on the doorknob of the ward slowly tightened. He turned to Zhou Mingyan and questioned, "What's wrong with going out with me? She's the mother of my child. Isn't it normal for her to go out with me?"
"You, have you no shame?"
Zhou Mingyan didn't like too many people knowing Shen Yanxi and He Lingchuan's identities, and he reprimanded He Lingchuan in a low voice.
"No matter how shameless I am, I'm not as shameless as you."
He Lingchuan clasped his hands together and placed them on his chest: "You're openly and honestly being a male mistress, you really make your parents proud."
He Lingchuan's voice wasn't loud, but everyone around him could hear it clearly.
They pointed at Zhou Mingyan, their tone full of doubt: "Mr. Zhou is the mistress?"
"It can't be real, I don't believe Mr. Zhou would do that."
“But He Lingchuan is definitely not him, Miss Shen has already clarified that.”
"Could it really be Mr. Zhou?"
