Chapter Sixteen: If You Won't Tell Me, I Will Tell You

Shen Yanxi tilted her head back, eager to know He Lingchuan's thoughts.

She didn't believe that He Lingchuan would give up on her so easily.

"I wish you a long and happy marriage and many children."

Upon hearing He Lingchuan's words, Shen Yanxi's eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at him for a long time before angrily saying, "You said it yourself, don't regret it!"

Zhou Mingyan remained kneeling on one knee. In a fit of pique, Shen Yanxi turned around and agreed, "I agree."

"Very good."

"I knew Miss Shen would agree."

"If Miss Shen rejects such a good man, I will never believe in love again."

"This is what a perfect match truly looks like."

After agreeing, Shen Yanxi looked at He Lingchuan provocatively: "Are you satisfied now?"

"Whatever makes you happy."

Gu Chengze witnessed all of this and felt sorry for He Lingchuan: "Shen Yanxi, you'd better not regret this."

"What do I have to regret?"

She snorted coldly. Even after saying all that, she still concealed her and He Lingchuan's true identities: "Mingyan and I are in love. What is there to regret?"

Gu Chengze nodded angrily: "Yes, yes, you two are in love, everyone else is laughing at you."

He curled his lips into a strange smile: "I hope this is what you want, but please don't come here crying and begging."

Some people have already noticed that something is off about their conversation.

What does he mean?

Why does Miss Shen need to ask someone for help?

"From what I'm hearing, it sounds like he and Miss Shen also have a past?"

The people around them pricked up their ears, hoping they would say a few more words.

But Gu Chengze remained silent, giving them no more chances to eavesdrop.

He Lingchuan looked at their clasped hands, his eyes filled with disappointment.

"Give me a kiss."

Someone in the crowd shouted something.

Shen Yanxi's cheeks flushed red with embarrassment.

She kept her head down, too embarrassed to look at Zhou Mingyan.

"Give me a kiss, give me a kiss..."

The jeers grew louder and louder, and Zhou Mingyan reached out and placed his finger on Shen Yanxi's chin.

He gently lifted Shen Yanxi's face, his gaze tender yet filled with anticipation.

"Xixi..."

He was somewhat lost in the moment, and amidst the cheers and jeers of feeding people at lunchtime, he lowered his head.

At the critical moment, He Lingchuan turned around and pulled Gu Chengze away.

"let's go."

"A despicable couple."

He cursed under his breath, and the two of them left this place of trouble one after the other.

As soon as He Lingchuan left, Shen Yanxi turned her head and said, "There are so many people here."

Her gaze unconsciously drifted towards He Lingchuan's direction; she didn't know when he had left.

Zhou Mingyan looked in the direction he was looking and felt a sense of crisis.

He hid it well, only clenching his fist and then releasing it: "I know you're shy."

After saying that, he withdrew his hand and explained to the others, "Everyone, please disperse. Thank you all for being my witnesses. When I get married, I will definitely invite everyone to come and have a wedding banquet."

As the excitement subsided, Shen Yanxi showed no trace of a smile.

She recalled her conversation with He Lingchuan and suddenly wanted to ask him face-to-face what he meant.

"Xixi, are you unhappy?"

Zhou Mingyan, appearing understanding, took off the ring in his hand and said, "If you don't want to, you don't have to agree."

He scratched his head, looking somewhat guilty: "I was too impatient, don't blame me."

Shen Yanxi snapped out of her daze and put the ring back on his finger: "You did nothing wrong. We'll get married after I divorce He Lingchuan."

She was also a little impulsive. The joy of Zhou Mingyan proposing to her was mixed with the anger of He Lingchuan's blessing. In a fit of pique, she agreed to Zhou Mingyan's proposal and promised to marry him.

With Shen Yanxi's words, Zhou Mingyan felt more confident.

"I love you, Xixi."

He stared intently into Shen Yanxi's eyes, as if afraid he would run away.

...

The Shen family banquet was held right after the proposal. Since He Lingchuan had made a promise, he was still going. He originally planned to go separately, but Shen Yanxi insisted on going together.

"You're leaving with me because you're afraid they won't realize there's a problem in our relationship?"

In the car, Shen Yanxi spoke sarcastically, her words full of blame.

"Do we have feelings for each other? Besides, you've already promised Zhou Mingyan, why don't you take this opportunity to tell them..."

After deciding to divorce, He Lingchuan's attitude towards Shen Yanxi was never very good.

But before he could finish speaking, he was interrupted by Shen Yanxi.

"Stop talking, I don't need you to teach me how to do it!"

Shen Yanxi frowned, glanced at the driver in front, and whispered a reminder to him: "The driver is from Mom's side, you should at least pretend."

Since it was a family dinner, Shen Yanxi didn't want to cause any other trouble.

"They'll find out sooner or later."

He Lingchuan looked at Shen Yanxi and proposed his plan: "Today is a good opportunity. We can talk about the divorce first."

"Are you crazy?"

"You've already accepted Zhou Mingyan's proposal, how long are you planning to make him wait this time?"

He Lingchuan said those words without warning, causing the driver's hands to slip as he turned the steering wheel, and the car swayed.

"Shut up."

Shen Yanxi was a little nervous; this was the first time she had shown such a flustered expression.

"I'll tell you sooner or later."

In He Lingchuan's opinion, it was better to say it sooner rather than later, which would save a lot of trouble.

Anyway, none of those people like me.

Shen Yanxi raised her hand, indicating that she didn't want to say anything more.

"You'd better behave yourself when you go in. I'll tell Mom about our divorce."
