At this point, Song Jin paused deliberately, a ruthless glint flashing in his eyes, as if he wanted to vent all his anger and resentment on Qin Wen. "My lord, Qin Wen is a vicious and ruthless person who will stop at nothing to achieve her goals. I hope you will investigate thoroughly and not let the real culprit go unpunished!"
Qin Wen knelt to the side, listening to Song Jin's distorted version of events, her heart burning with anger. "My lord, Song Jin is twisting the truth! You must not believe him! I have never been to the palace before, and I have never had any interest in my sister's position as empress..."
Zhao Yuan remained silent for a moment, his gaze sweeping back and forth between Qin Wen and Song Jin, as if weighing their arguments.
Just then, a jailer hurriedly walked in from outside and whispered something in Zhao Yuan's ear.
When Zhao Yuan raised his head again, his gaze towards Song Jin held a different meaning.
"Someone, bring the cat that the Empress keeps in her bedchamber!" he ordered loudly.
Upon hearing this, Song Jin and Qin Wen exchanged bewildered glances.
Why would the Minister of the Court of Judicial Review ask someone to bring a cat for no reason?
The two knelt nervously on the cold, damp ground, unable to fathom what Zhao Yuan was planning.
A short while later, the cat was brought over.
"Men, tie Song Jin to the wooden frame." At Zhao Yuan's command, two strong jailers immediately stepped forward, dragged Song Jin up, and quickly tied him to the wooden frame.
"My lord, I have confessed everything I can!"
Song Jin was so frightened that his legs trembled. Soon, his pants were soaked, and warm liquid flowed down his wide trouser legs.
"Imperial Physician Song, you—" A jailer pinched his nose in disgust.
"Loosen Song Jin's pants, put the cat inside, and tie it up tightly from top to bottom!" Zhao Yuan ordered sternly. "For the next seven days, feed Song Jin minced meat every day and do not let the cat out!"
"My lord, you mustn't! Such methods are against all reason, Lord Zhao!"
Song Jin cried and struggled desperately. But whatever he did at that moment was in vain.
His trousers were roughly ripped open, revealing his legs trembling with fear.
Then, the cat was gently placed between his bare legs.
Immediately, the jailers swiftly and skillfully re-tie his trousers.
The cat was initially panicked, kicking its limbs wildly and making sharp, rapid meowing sounds.
Song Jin's legs tensed, and her face turned deathly pale in an instant.
Qin Wen kept her head down, not daring to look up.
"Sir, what should we do about Miss Qin?" asked the jailer beside him.
"Temporarily detained." Zhao Yuan pinched the bridge of his nose, then turned and left.
The jailer escorted Qin Wen away, leaving only Song Jin and a room full of eerie torture instruments in the room.
Inside Song Jin's pants, the cat twisted and turned in the cramped space, occasionally trying to break free of its restraints with its sharp claws. Each attempt caused it to let out an even more shrill scream.
