Chapter 17 Don't be afraid he won't admit it

The moon sets behind the western mountains.

The noise in Zhao Rou's room gradually subsided.

Liu Yun pushed open the door, and Hui Zeng, not even having time to put on her clothes, hurriedly crawled under the bed.

Liu Yun said in a low voice, "It's me."

Hui breathed a sigh of relief and asked guiltily, "How did you get here?" He pulled up his pants as he walked toward Liu Yun.

Liu Yun took his hand and lay down on a small couch under the window.

"You're having a good time, but I'm still seething with anger!" she said, and started to loosen Hui Zeng's belt.

He had given all of his food supplies to Zhao Rou that night, leaving no left for Liu Yun. He said, panting, "I was too rough with you just now, you should at least let me catch my breath."

Liu Yun had been listening outside the window for half the night and was already itching to get back to work. How could he wait any longer for Hui Zeng to finish?

She fiddled with it for a long time, but when she realized that Hui Zeng really couldn't do it, she said angrily, "I gave you my daughter, you heartless man, and you've forgotten about your matchmaker! I don't care! Find me someone else!"

Hui hurriedly hugged her, pleading in a low voice, "Sister, this can't be rushed. If you can't wait, tomorrow, have the maids guard this courtyard to the death. I still have the 'Spring Never Ends' tea, which is a secret from the temple. I guarantee you'll have your fill!"

There was nothing Liu Yun could do even if she disagreed. After thinking for a moment, she nodded.

The next day, Baozhu stretched and prepared to wake her mistress, but saw her sitting in front of the dressing table, holding a jade pendant in her hand.

It was that yin-yang jade pendant again, shimmering with a crimson hue. She had seen it more than ten years ago when she first entered the manor.

Before she entered the mansion, there was a maid named Sun who had served the mistress for many years. For some reason, she suddenly contracted a serious illness, which was incurable, and she passed away.

I heard that the mistress cried her eyes out at the time.

Baozhu pulled herself out of her past and went to serve Zhang Wan closely.

"Madam, let me put this jade pendant away for you."

Zhang Wan turned slightly to the side, avoiding Baozhu's outstretched hand.

"I'll put it in myself."

Baozhu hummed in agreement and waited for Zhang Wan to put away the jade pendant before helping her with her hair and washing up.

During breakfast, Zhang Wan seemed distracted. When she noticed that Liu Yun was not there, she asked what was wrong.

Baozhu reported, "Earlier, Yinhuan, who serves Aunt Liu, came to report that Aunt Liu was not feeling well and would not be eating breakfast."

Zhang Wan paused in her chopsticks, having already made up her mind, and said, "I understand."

She then asked, "Where are the three young ladies?"

Baozhu said that the eldest and third young ladies went shopping early in the morning, while the second young lady went to Zhan Garden to find that young master Cui.

Zhang Wan's chopsticks immediately fell to the ground.

Baozhu gestured to a maid to bring another pair of chopsticks, but Zhang Wan stopped her, saying that she didn't have a good appetite and couldn't eat anymore.

Baoqing Courtyard.

After Liu Yun saw that his daughter had gone far away, he instructed Yin Huan, who was by his side, to guard the courtyard and not to open the door for anyone.

Yin Huan was timid, and upon hearing her master's words, she nodded repeatedly.

After arranging everything, Liu Yun impatiently closed the door.

Hui Zeng was already lying on the couch. When he saw her coming over, he took out two "Spring Never Ends" pills from a white porcelain bottle. He swallowed one himself and fed the other to Liu Yun.

Before long, the brocade quilt was rippled, and soft panting came from below.

Yin Huan listened to the sounds coming from inside the house, glancing out of the courtyard every now and then, afraid that someone would pass by and discover her, and covered her ears in fear.

Outside, the sky was clear and cloudless.

After their lovemaking, Hui Zeng leaned against the headboard, and Liu Yun, softly resting against him, said with lingering pleasure, "This Chun Bu Wan truly lives up to its reputation."

Hui Zeng laughed smugly, "Of course, this is a secret elixir from our temple. It's specially made for wealthy women who want to have children! But we'll have to use it sparingly from now on, I don't have many left."

Liu Yun's face darkened with anger as she questioned him, "If you had such a good thing, why didn't you take it out sooner?! Confess honestly, were you saving it for Rou'er?!"

Hui Zeng quickly coaxed, "Sister, you've misunderstood. Rou'er has no need for these things."

Upon hearing this, Liu Yun's face immediately fell. "Are you implying that I'm not as good as Rou'er, who is younger, more beautiful, and has a better figure?"

He hugged her and kissed her passionately, saying, "No matter how good Rou'er is, it's all thanks to your older sister. Without you, there would be no Rou'er. Don't worry, I'll set off for Qinglian Temple first thing tomorrow morning to find you a new wife. By evening at the latest, I'll be able to spend a night with you."

Liu Yun was satisfied and let him leave.

Meanwhile, Zhao Yun and Zhao Rou strolled around the street, waiting and waiting until Li Huai'an, who was out on his day off, finally appeared.

When Li Huai'an saw Zhao Yun, he initially avoided her, but Zhao Rou called out from afar, "Brother-in-law, my eldest sister is here!"

Li Huai'an had no choice but to bite the bullet and go to meet them.

He glanced behind the two of them, looking somewhat dejected.

"Is your brother-in-law looking for someone?" Zhao Rou asked quickly, then continued, "It's just me and my older sister out shopping today."

Zhao Yun, however, knew who Li Huai'an was looking for.

She said casually, "I was worried that my second sister was upset because her engagement was called off, so I wanted to take her out for a walk. But these past two days I've seen her seeing Mr. Cui from Zhan Garden more often, so I'm relieved."

"Young Master Cui of Zhan Garden, Cui Shenghe?" Li Huai'an asked in surprise.

Zhao Yun nodded. She secretly observed Li Huai'an and, seeing that he was even more depressed, suggested that they go to Hongyun Restaurant in front of the restaurant together.

“Brother-in-law, you seem to be in a bad mood. Why don’t my sister and I keep you company for a while? I haven’t had their drunken duck in ages!” Zhao Rou encouraged from the side.

Li Huai'an had no choice but to agree to their proposal.

As soon as the three of them sat down, Zhao Rou started clamoring that her mother was very strict at home and that she absolutely had to try the wine from Hongyunlou.
