Chapter 65 You're Bullying Me

"She fainted?" Bai Wei was taken aback. She looked at Li Huai'an and scolded him for not letting Zhao Yun stay to take care of his mother. It made their Duke's mansion seem too heartless.

"Although it's said that a married daughter is like water spilled from a bowl, since her birth mother is unconscious, Yun'er should at least be by her bedside to take care of her! An'er, how foolish you are!"

Bai Wei's every word was blaming Li Huai'an, but every word was a curse in Zhao Yun's heart.

The afterglow of the setting sun fell on the front of the Duke's mansion, the golden light contrasting sharply with the somber atmosphere around it.

Zhao Yun's face was streaked with tears, her eyes were red and swollen, and she stood outside the threshold, caught in a dilemma.

Li Huai'an glanced at Zhao Yun and snorted coldly.

Bai Wei frowned, her gaze shifting between the two of them. Finally, she gently patted Zhao Yun's hand and whispered, "Yun'er, you should go inside and rest. Your face is injured, so you need to take good care of it. As for your mother, I will go to visit her myself, so you don't need to worry about her."

She knew her own son best; how could she not guess that the injuries on Zhao Yun's face were inflicted by Li Huai'an? But Li Huai'an didn't usually act rashly. Bai Wei guessed that the two of them must have been talking about Zhao Zhi, which caused Li Huai'an to lose control of his emotions.

Thinking of this, she sighed softly.

Upon hearing this, Zhao Yun felt a mix of emotions, a mixture of gratitude for her mother-in-law's understanding and a touch of indescribable sorrow. She forced a smile, bowed, and said, "Thank you for your understanding, Mother-in-law. Yun'er takes her leave."

As she turned away, her vision blurred again with tears.

Yu Ming caught a glimpse of Zhao Yun's swollen face out of the corner of her eye and could only sigh silently.

As night fell, the moonlight shone like a ribbon, its silvery glow filling the inner chambers of the Duke's mansion.

Zhao Yun had a herbal compress gently applied to her face, which felt cool but could not hide the burning and complicated emotions in her heart.

She had just closed her eyes when she heard voices coming from the side room.

"Master, your steps are unsteady, have you been drinking too much again?" Bai Yunxiang's voice carried a hint of amusement and helplessness.

"Haha, Yunxiang, how did you know I was going to pretend to be crazy tonight?" Li Huai'an's voice was slightly drunk, but it also revealed a flippancy that was not usually seen in him.

“Master, you’re not pretending to be crazy, you’re clearly really drunk. Come, let me help you to the mistress’s room so you can rest properly.” Bai Yunxiang stepped forward, preparing to help Li Huai’an to the bedroom.

Li Huai'an suddenly leaned on her shoulder, gently bit her earlobe, and ordered, "Take off these cumbersome clothes for me."

Then came the rustling sound of fabric rubbing together.

The sound was like a thousand ants gnawing at Zhao Yun's heart, making her feel extremely uncomfortable.

"Master...Master, please slow down..." Bai Yunxiang's voice suddenly became urgent and low, as if she was deliberately suppressing something.
