Siqin and her two guards were still fighting the assassins and couldn't break away.
At this critical moment, with two lives at stake, Song Xizhi could not convince himself to protect himself and remain indifferent.
Seeing this, she hurriedly ran towards the two of them, then lay down on the edge of the cliff and tightly grabbed the collar of the man in the white shirt.
Winter clothes are really too thick, and the middle-aged man in front of me seems to come from a good family and wear expensive clothes. His collar is slippery and there is no room to exert any force when I grab it.
The biting wind lashed against my face, the chill penetrating to my very bones.
The man in the plain robe had bulging veins on his forehead and his face was contorted.
He tightened his grip on the pale-faced servant beneath him, presumably feeling the strain just as much as Song Xizhi did.
"Master, please let go! Please let go! Let that girl rescue you..."
The pale-faced man's eyes were already brimming with tears, and his gaze was filled with determination; he was already planning to jump.
The man in plain clothes above simply snapped, "Shut up! Stop making noise!"
Seeing this, Song Xizhi hurriedly stretched out his other hand, intending to grab the pale-faced middle-aged man below: "Give me your hand, share the weight, and you won't be a burden to your master."
Upon hearing this, the pale-faced man seemed to be tempted. He struggled to extend his left arm, then felt a sharp pain and switched to his right hand, trying to grab Song Xizhi's hand.
At that very moment, Song Xizhi felt as if fireworks suddenly exploded above his head. The once quiet bamboo forest and treetops began to sway violently, making rustling sounds.
Out of the corner of my eye, countless dark shadows appeared on both sides, and then I heard Siqin's anxious voice from behind:
"Master! Enemy reinforcements are coming! Jump down! Jump down now!"
With difficulty, Song Xizhi turned his head and saw several poisoned silver needles flying towards his shop.
In an instant, alarm bells rang in her mind, and she shouted at the two people in front of her: "Jump down! The assassins have reinforcements! Jump down together!"
After speaking, Song Xizhi listened to Siqin's words and jumped off the edge of the cliff without hesitation.
Everything was pitch black before her eyes, and a biting wind blew directly at her face. The intense weightlessness didn't last as long as she had imagined.
After a sharp pain in his back, Song Xizhi heard a muffled thud and fell heavily to the ground.
After rolling down a few times, it came to a stop.
It turns out that the cliff is not high; below it is a gentle slope covered with a thick layer of fallen leaves.
It's likely that Siqin scouted the terrain here that afternoon, which is why she was so calm and allowed to jump down.
Song Xizhi breathed a sigh of relief and lay there for a moment to recover. Then he heard two loud thuds as heavy objects fell to the ground.
She opened her eyes with some difficulty and saw the two middle-aged men from before, now lying on the ground with their eyes closed.
Song Xizhi propped himself up with one hand and sat up, then saw the middle-aged man in plain clothes land right next to him.
She checked the man's breath from behind, and then suddenly felt that the face in front of her, who looked to be in his forties or fifties, was somewhat familiar.
However, Song Xizhi couldn't remember where she had seen him before, so she simply patted the man's arm and asked, "How are you? Can you open your eyes and look at me?"
Upon hearing this, the middle-aged man slowly opened his eyes. He was instinctively on guard, then stared at Song Xizhi for a moment, looking somewhat dazed.
Song Xizhi knew this was a normal reaction after a brief loss of consciousness, so he patiently said, "I am a doctor. It turns out that the cliff we just saw wasn't very high, and there were fallen leaves underneath."
"If you feel unwell, tell me and I'll take a look."
Hearing this, the middle-aged man finally came to his senses. He covered his chest and coughed lightly twice: "I'm fine. Please go and check on my personal servant."
Song Xizhi nodded, and then climbed over to the side of the pale-faced servant.
By the moonlight, she could see the servant's face clearly. Although he had an Adam's apple, his skin was fair, and he had no beard or sparse eyebrows, giving him a somewhat effeminate appearance.
The more Song Xizhi looked, the more he felt something was amiss.
The person in front of me doesn't look like a man; he looks more like... a eunuch.
As she thought about it, she took his pulse with one hand, then her expression hardened, and she reached out to check his breath.
His pulse was erratic and beating extremely fast. Although the temperature was cold, the "servant's" breath was scalding hot.
His entire face was flushed, and his body was hot. He collapsed on the spot, completely unconscious. He didn't look like someone who had fallen and injured himself.
Song Xizhi recalled his reaction at the cliff edge and felt a chill in his heart. By the light of the moon in the sky, he found a scratch on his left arm.
"The skin and flesh are turned inside out, and the wound is black; the silver needles used just now were poisoned."
As soon as Song Xizhi finished speaking, the middle-aged man struggled to his feet and walked to her side, clutching his chest.
"The silver needles are poisonous? What should we do?"
Song Xizhi glanced at him and said, “His body is different from that of a normal man. Once the toxins enter his body, he won’t be able to hold on for long. We can only cut out the rotten flesh first. I carry medicine with me and can bandage him up.”
Upon hearing this, the middle-aged man gave Song Xizhi a very serious look.
He then pulled out a small knife from his pocket, presented it to her, nodded, and asked in a hoarse yet reassuring voice, "Do you know how to use it?"
Song Xizhi glanced at the small knife presented to him. It was exquisitely crafted, with a handle made of black iron and a scabbard inlaid with gems of varying sizes.
