Immediately afterwards, her lips touched something warm and soft, and she felt the unique scent of a man.
The man seemed to have taken control of the rhythm, making Song Xizhi's breathing more and more rapid, and her legs gradually began to weaken. After regaining her senses, she suddenly bit the man's lips hard.
The man gasped in pain, straightened his back, and still managed to support Song Xizhi's limp body with both hands.
"Why is it still biting people?"
Song Xizhi glared at him, her breath still a little unsteady: "I haven't forgiven you yet. You hid things from me like that before, making me think you hated me. I was really heartbroken."
"I'm telling you this today because I've made up my mind to get a divorce."
The man was silent for a moment, his eyelids lowered: "Because you think I'm the crown prince, so you want a divorce?"
Song Xizhi had just opened her mouth, wanting to say it had nothing to do with her status, when the man suddenly hugged her tightly:
"Luckily, I'm not one."
His hard chest conveyed the man's burning body temperature, and his steady heartbeat could still be heard in my ear.
For some reason, every time Song Xizhi was in his arms, he felt all his defenses and vigilance relax.
She was amused by the man's words and couldn't help but look up at him and ask, "Why are you so relieved?"
The man simply released Song Xizhi, then looked down at her, speaking each word with utmost seriousness: "I'm just grateful to have you by my side."
His voice was low and husky, with a touch of magnetism.
Feeling his somewhat aggressive gaze, Song Xizhi recalled the long kiss from before, and for some reason, her heart started pounding.
She avoided the man's gaze, placed one hand on the window, and then pushed open the tightly closed window.
There was a creaking sound from the windowsill.
Immediately afterwards, Song Xizhi's soft voice rang out in the quiet room: "It's getting late, and we'll have a long journey tomorrow."
As she spoke, she paused, then slightly raised her eyes to examine the man's unfamiliar face, and said meaningfully, "You will need to change your face after you return to the manor, so you do need to rest early today."
Hearing Song Xizhi's sudden change of tone, the man took two steps back, then reached up and covered his lower back again, his voice equally low:
"Indeed, with the dew getting heavier and injuries still inflicted, they need to rest earlier."
His gaze, like a feather, gently swept across Song Xizhi's face, as if telling a thousand words:
"When I first came here, it was the first time I realized how long the road down the mountain was and how difficult it was to walk."
Song Xizhi raised her eyebrows, pretending not to understand the man's implied meaning.
She opened the window even wider: "In that case, we should go back and rest even earlier."
The evening breeze, damp with the night air, blew on the two of them. The man's Adam's apple bobbed, but he simply nodded: "Okay."
You should get some rest too.
After saying this, he reached up and covered his lower back again, then took another long stride and climbed over the window with great difficulty.
Song Xizhi stood by the window and saw that his outstretched hand was not as nimble as usual. Not only did he not land steadily, but he also staggered several steps.
She frowned slightly, about to say something.
But the man simply turned around, placed one hand against the window, and waved to her with a smile: "Go back."
Song Xizhi pursed her lips: "Okay, be careful."
The man in the moonlight seemed to be shrouded in a thin mist, and the evening breeze lifted the hem of his clothes. He nodded.
Song Xizhi slowly closed the window.
The wooden window slammed shut in an instant, shutting out the rustling of insects outside, and the world seemed to fall silent for a moment.
Song Xizhi stood by the window without moving an inch, not even lowering his hand from the window.
But the image of the man from before reappeared before her eyes, along with the hand that was always supporting her lower back.
It seems that when he first arrived, he had already placed one hand on his lower back.
As Song Xizhi thought about it, a sense of worry crept into his heart. He couldn't help but exert a little force with his hand resting on the windowsill, and the window in front of him was pushed open with a sound.
The moonlight, like water, shone into the room where the candlelight flickered.
As she looked up, her gaze unexpectedly met the man's eyes. The man's brows were slightly furrowed, and a hint of weariness lingered in his eyes.
But when his gaze met Song Xizhi's eyes, the weariness vanished in an instant, leaving only a dazzling light.
In the blink of an eye, a lifetime passes in a single glance.
It turns out he hadn't left.
He just stood there by the window.
Song Xizhi stared blankly into his eyes, her heart filled with turbulent emotions.
I wonder what the man in front of me was thinking when he looked so tired and sad.
The man met her gaze, placed his hands on the windowsill, and then leaned forward slightly, his tall body pressing against the window.
Only when that handsome face was close to Song Xizhi's did he chuckle softly, "What's wrong?"
Song Xizhi remained silent for a moment, looking at his somewhat pale face in the moonlight, and said softly, "I remembered your wound. The mountains are high and the road is long. I'll bandage it for you before I go back."
The woman's gentle voice echoed in the moonlight, and her face looked so beautiful in the dim candlelight.
He Jingyan paused for a moment without speaking, but when he raised his head again, his eyes and brows were full of smiles.
"good."
He smiled.
After saying this, he straightened up again, braced himself against the windowsill, and prepared to climb in through the window.
Song Xizhi thought for a moment, then said, "Let's go through the main gate."
