Chapter 231 Zhao Qingshu's Inner Palace

The news spread very quickly that day, as if an invisible hand was pushing things along.

By that very night, the news had spread like wildfire throughout the city.

When the news reached Song Ruoan's ears, she was overjoyed, feeling as happy as if it were New Year's Day.

She seemed to have finally gotten her revenge, and even spoke sarcastically to Song Xizhi.

But Song Xizhi ignored her, because she was waiting for an opportunity.

Sure enough, less than three days after the news spread, the Tibetan prince secretly sent a letter.

The letter said that Zhao Qingshu had secretly sent him a confidential letter, inviting him to a restaurant for tea to discuss the treatment of the Holy Maiden.

The time was set for the night of the following day.

That night, Song Xizhi and He Jingyan put on unfamiliar human skin masks.

With the help of Siqin, Song Xizhi tightened his chest and put on height-increasing boots, dressing up as a man.

Fortunately, she is tall, and has grown even taller. Although she is still much shorter than He Jingyan, she doesn't look out of place.

The two arrived at the Tibetan prince's side in the evening.

He Jingyan looked at the Tibetan prince dressed in his finest attire, and even changed into Tibetan ethnic clothing.

Behind him stood a group of Tibetan guards.

When Song Xizhi first saw so many Tibetan attendants, standing in a row, they looked like a dark, imposing mountain.

She slowly stopped in her tracks, and couldn't help but take a few more glances. Then she felt a large hand descend from the sky and cover her head, slowly turning her head in a different direction.

When Song Xizhi was turned around by He Jingyan's forceful twist, he saw He Jingyan's disguised face.

Even if he wore an ordinary mask, his bone structure was still outstanding, and he exuded an inexplicable air of nobility.

Then the man's low voice rang in Song Xizhi's ear:

"These big men around the prince don't even look nine feet tall, they're about the same height as me, aren't they?"

Upon hearing this, Song Xizhi's lips twitched violently. She glanced at him and was about to speak when the Tibetan prince suddenly spoke up.

"This servant was specially chosen to complement your little bodyguard!"

He couldn't help but sigh to Song Xizhi, "Judge Song, do you know how difficult it was for me to specifically find a short man among the servants?"

He Jingyan's eye twitched suddenly.

Song Xizhi thought to himself, "This is bad. This jealous man is very petty."

Now, the Tibetan prince, with his distorted aesthetic sense, considers He Jingyan to be both "short" and "small," which suggests that a grudge is about to be formed between them.

Thinking of this, Song Xizhi quickly gave He Jingyan a look.

His chest heaved slightly as he took a deep breath, staring into Song Xizhi's praying eyes, before finally nodding to her.

Once the Tibetan prince was ready, Song Xizhi and He Jingyan were placed in his entourage, and the group left the mansion.

As soon as he left the mansion, a carriage secretly prepared by Zhao Qingshu came to pick him up.

The Tibetan prince paused briefly in front of the carriage, then suddenly said to the coachman, "Prepare three more carriages for me, and my attendants will also ride in them."

Upon hearing this, the coachman sent by Zhao Qingshu couldn't help but sigh inwardly, "The Tibetan prince really treats his subordinates well."

These men, piled up like small mountains, were still a source of worry for the prince, who feared they might get tired.

The group remained silent throughout the journey in the carriage, and it was unclear how much time had passed before the carriage finally came to a slow stop.

Song Xizhi slightly lifted the carriage curtain a crack and saw that familiar sign.

"Fragrant Pavilion"

This is Zhao Qingshu's restaurant. Now that it's nighttime, the restaurant is bustling with activity, with customers coming and going in an endless stream.

The coachman lifted the curtain for the Tibetan prince and led him to a discreet shop across from the restaurant.

Seeing the coachman's actions, Song Xizhi narrowed his eyes, feeling somewhat surprised.

The actual meeting place was not at the restaurant.

It was actually a shop, but it wasn't open for business. It looked like it had been abandoned. The signboard was covered in dust, and the threshold looked worn and broken from being walked on. There were hardly any pedestrians coming and going on weekdays.

Song Xizhi thought for a moment, then exchanged a silent glance with He Jingyan. After marking the spot, they followed the Tibetan prince into the shop without a sign.

Upon entering the shop and passing through the dilapidated front yard, a secluded courtyard comes into view.

Song Xizhi carefully observed the scenery before him.

The courtyard is filled with carved beams and painted rafters, pavilions and waterside terraces, and spacious towers—it has everything imaginable.

The courtyard not only features an artificially dug lake but also a man-made hill, surrounded by tall trees. It also employs the borrowed scenery technique of Suzhou gardens, blending the interior and exterior of the garden into one.

Even He Jingyan narrowed his eyes, his thin lips pressed into a straight line, silently examining the expensive garden before him.

Song Xizhi originally thought that given Zhao Qingshu's cautious nature, he wouldn't allow so many servants to enter his courtyard.

To her surprise, Zhao Qingshu let them in without any hindrance.

Upon seeing the newcomer, the two servants in the courtyard respectfully guided the Tibetan prince to a seat in the main hall.

The group followed the Tibetan prince to the hall, where they were greeted by a magnificent and resplendent display of gold and jade.
