Song Xizhi felt Pei Yunyi's seemingly casual gaze, which was burning hot as if it could scorch one's skin.
This made Song Xizhi's breathing slow down.
Meanwhile, He Jingyan, standing to the side, grasped Song Xizhi's hand, respectfully cupped his hands in a gesture of respect to Pei Yunyi, and said with a smile:
"Your Highness, please forgive me. My wife was overly worried and stood at the palace entrance, reluctant to part with me, blocking Your Highness's path. I hope Your Highness will forgive her."
As soon as He Jingyan finished speaking, Song Xizhi felt that Pei Yunyi's gaze on her was becoming increasingly intense.

She looked up blankly and saw Prince Xiu staring at her with his narrow eyes. Then he smiled and said, "We were just talking about Judge Song. Why didn't the judge say anything?"
The room fell silent instantly. Song Xizhi clenched his fists, unaware of what they had just discussed.
Feeling everyone's gazes lingering on her, Song Xizhi was about to speak when He Jingyan came to her rescue:
"Just now the ladies were mentioning your large lacquer mother-of-pearl inlay, saying that the congratulatory gift you gave to the Empress Dowager last time was really wonderful."
As soon as He Jingyan finished speaking, Prince Xiu couldn't help but laugh again: "The relationship between Imperial Physician Song and General He is really good. They are a loving couple, a match made in heaven. I haven't even said anything yet, and General He is already protecting his wife!"
This caused everyone present to chuckle, but Song Xizhi felt that the man in the seat in front of him was looking at him with increasing intensity.

Red wine stained his clothes, and he was looking up, his eyes fixed on Song Xizhi.
His eyes were slightly reddish at the corners, and his gaze was somewhat unfocused. His Adam's apple bobbed up and down, but the corners of his mouth remained curved in a slight smile.
He looked somewhat out of sorts.
The Empress Dowager frowned, clearly displeased: "What's going on? Can't you even handle such a small matter?"
Pei Yunyi simply shook his head, lowered his eyes, and concealed all the darkness in them.
"Grandmother, please calm down and don't blame him."
"It's just a matter of changing clothes; today is a joyous occasion."
Since Pei Yunyi had said so, the Empress Dowager could only take a deep breath and nod: "Yunyi is merciful, then you may go and change your clothes first."
Pei Yunyi nodded and slowly stood up.
Everyone hurriedly stood up and bowed to Pei Yunyi, saying, "Respectfully seeing off His Highness the Crown Prince."
Pei Yunyi waved his hand casually, as if he always had a slight smile on his face.
Song Xizhi and the others rose to their feet and bowed, but their gaze lingered on Pei Yunyi's departing figure.
Others might only perceive him as nonchalant and dignified, but Song Xizhi could see a faint sadness in his silhouette.
