"...But brother, the funeral arrangements for sister-in-law haven't been settled yet. Shall we wait until they're done before we set off?"
He Yunze forced a smile, gesturing with his hands and feet, and speaking incoherently. He looked timid and incapable of achieving anything significant.
Seeing his hesitant and timid appearance, He Jingyan recalled his usual demeanor and thought he was suddenly scared and trying to find an excuse.
He felt a little disdainful, but for the sake of the connections he had gained, he still grabbed He Yunce's wrist and led him outside:
"Yun Ce, please don't back down! Your sister-in-law has been wronged and can't wait a moment longer!"
Pulled by his movements, He Yunze took several steps away.
But he immediately stopped and looked up at He Jingyan.
“Brother, let me change my clothes first, then I’ll go with you.”
Upon hearing this, He Jingyan took a deep breath.
But at this moment, he had a very high tolerance for He Yunce.
He merely glanced at He Yunce up and down, then stared intently at him with his dark eyes: "Alright, brother, I'll wait for you to change your clothes."
"But you should give the tiger tally to your brother first, otherwise your brother is afraid that you might accidentally lose it."
After saying this, He Jingyan gripped his hand tightly again, so tightly that it hurt He Yunce's hand.
Seeing He Yunze's absent-minded appearance, Marquis An Ding nodded worriedly, fearing that something might happen to his tiger tally.
"Yun Ce, you should give the Tiger Tally to your elder brother. He used to lead troops in battle, so the Tiger Tally should be kept by him."
He Yunze could feel the cold sweat on his hands, sticky and damp, as if he could barely hold onto the tiger tally.
But He Jingyan still stared at him with a very scrutinizing gaze, and then with his powerful hand, he took the tiger tally from He Yunce's hand with undeniable force.
He Yunze gave a hoarse laugh, "Okay, brother, I'll go change my clothes..."
After saying this, he started walking back step by step, his steps stiff, his whole body like a puppet on strings.
When he returned to his Guanyun Pavilion, before he could even step inside, he collapsed uncontrollably outside the door.
When Shuangxi saw this scene and saw He Yunce's ashen face, she was startled.
He rushed forward and helped He Yunce up: "Master! The deceased is gone. Is there anything more sorrowful in the world?"
"So many days have passed, you should take good care of yourself and not hurt yourself anymore!"
He Yunze shook his head, then forced a smile, and said to Shuangxi in a hoarse voice, "There is nothing more heartbreaking than this."
His whereabouts are unknown and his fate is uncertain; his elder brother is problematic; his father handed the tiger tally to his problematic elder brother.
And they all felt like useless cowards.
There is nothing more tragic than this.
Upon hearing this, Shuangxi looked in He Yunce's direction with some confusion, as if about to ask something.
But He Yunze's eyes hardened at that moment.
He gripped Shuangxi's sleeve tightly and spoke to her solemnly, "Shuangxi, I have a very important matter to entrust to you. You must handle it well."
Shuangxi bit her lip: "Master, what is it? Please tell me!"
He Yunze whispered a few words in Shuangxi's ear.
The more Shuangxi listened, the wider her eyes widened. By the time He Yunce finished speaking, Shuangxi was so astonished that she couldn't speak at all.
"No, Master, we absolutely cannot do this!"
He Yunze just stared intently at him, his tired eyes containing a hint of ruthlessness: "For the country and for the family, this is the only way."
"Shuangxi, call your trusted brothers to go with you. Tell them it's my order. From now on, you'll be a hero of the cause."
This was the first time Shuangxi had ever seen He Yunce look at her like that.
He was momentarily stunned, then slowly nodded.
He Yunze moved his lips, which were already bleeding: "You have to do it, understand?"
Shuangxi swallowed hard, her legs trembling as she spoke: "I understand..."
He Yunze nodded, forced himself to change his clothes, and then slowly walked out of Guanyun Pavilion.
Shuangxi remained standing in the same spot, watching He Yunce's back, feeling that every step he took was incredibly firm.
He Jingyan waited for a moment and then saw He Yunce return with a new set of clothes, and he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He led He Yunce out of the Marquis of Anding's residence, where a groom was already waiting with horses.
The two mounted their horses and galloped towards the military camp outside the capital.
Once they reached the military camp, all the soldiers under the Marquis of Anding would be under He Jingyan's command, so whether or not they could find the Crown Prince was not an important matter at all.
Because that's not their ultimate goal at all.
Thinking this, He Jingyan gripped the horse tightly, urging it to go even faster.
But before the two could even leave the city gates of the capital...
They then noticed that the people on both sides of the road seemed to be whispering and talking amongst themselves, or perhaps pointing and whispering behind the two of them.
He Jingyan had some doubts in his heart, but he had no time to pay attention to these things. He just kept urging his horse to gallop away.
He Yunze naturally followed closely behind.
