Chapter 25 Recognizing the Master (Third Update)
The visitor was none other than Pan Hongru!
Fu Yunshu's expression instantly turned cold, as if covered by a layer of frost. He questioned, "Elder Pan is not in the main hall at the moment, but instead possesses your nephew's body and sneaks into the secret realm. What is he most interested in?"
Pan Hongru glanced at him coldly, his tone full of disdain and mockery: "You're about to die and you're still so curious."
Yin Lisheng gripped the sword hilt tightly, his knuckles turning white from the force, and asked Fu Yunshu in a low voice, "Su Yun, what should we do?"
Fu Yunshu did not answer immediately, but moved with lightning speed, quickly taking out a talisman from his sleeve.
He opened and closed his lips rapidly, chanting incantations and hand seals in a low voice. The talisman instantly burst into flames, transforming into a dazzling golden light that shot out swiftly like an arrow released from a bow.
"Break!" Fu Yunshu shouted.
The golden light struck Pan Tianlei precisely, causing his body to tremble violently before he let out an extremely shrill scream.
However, the talisman only had a minor effect, and Pan Hongru quickly regained his balance and returned to normal.
Fu Yunshu was slightly taken aback, his heart filled with surprise. Although it was only a mid-grade Heaven-Breaking Talisman, he had estimated that the effect should not be so minimal.
"Qiu Nan, take Yin Lisheng and leave first!" Fu Yunshu said urgently in a low voice.
Qiu Nan was taken aback by his words and subconsciously asked, "And what about you?"
"I'll hold him off, you all get out of here!" Fu Yunshu's tone left no room for argument.
Qiu Nan gritted his teeth. Although he was filled with resentment, he knew this was not the time to be stubborn. He grabbed Yin Lisheng and urged in a low voice, "Let's go!"
Yin Lisheng didn't want to leave at all. Although he didn't know Su Yun's true strength, the other party was, after all, an elder of the Beast Taming Peak, and the current situation was extremely strange, so Su Yun probably couldn't handle it. But he also understood that if he stayed here, he would not only be of no help, but would most likely become a burden.
"Leave? None of you will leave this secret realm alive today!" Pan Hongru was furious when he saw that these people didn't take him seriously at all.
He flashed forward, moving with ghostly speed, and arrived in front of Yin Lisheng almost instantly, unleashing a punch carrying immense force.
Fu Yunshu reacted swiftly, stepping in front of Yin Lisheng and swinging his sword to block. However, the power emanating from Pan Tianlei's body far exceeded his expectations. The moment the sword and fist collided, an overwhelming force surged forth, and Fu Yunshu was thrown back like a kite with a broken string, staggering backward.
"Su Yun!" Yin Lisheng's pupils suddenly contracted, his eyes filled with fear and worry.
"Hahaha... With such meager strength, you dare to try and stop me? You're just dreaming!" Pan Tianlei laughed wildly, his laughter full of smugness and mockery, and charged forward again with great momentum.
His attacks became increasingly fierce and swift. Fu Yunshu's cultivation was suppressed, and he could only rely on his rich past fighting experience to barely resist.
As time went by, Fu Yunshu's strength gradually gave out, and fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead, sliding down his cheeks and wetting his clothes.
"You guys, go and get that mahogany box for me!" Pan Hongru shouted as he fiercely fought with Fu Yunshu, turning to direct his underlings who were under his control.
Upon hearing this, the henchmen immediately charged towards the mahogany box on the altar like vicious dogs. But as they approached the altar, the array around it suddenly lit up, and an invisible barrier firmly blocked them from entering.
"What's going on?" Pan Hongru frowned deeply, snorted coldly, and quickly made a hand seal. A black spiritual energy shot out from his fingertip like a venomous snake, heading straight for the formation on the altar.
However, the moment the spiritual energy touched the array, it was bounced back, nearly injuring him.
"Hmph, I refuse to believe we can't break this little formation!" A ruthless glint flashed in Pan Hongru's eyes. He suddenly waved his hand, and an even more powerful and vast spiritual force slammed towards the altar.
At this critical moment, the Broken Abyss Sword hanging above the mahogany box suddenly shone brightly, its dazzling light as bright as the sun, making it almost impossible to look directly at it.
The sword vibrated violently, emitting a clear and resonant sword cry. Immediately afterward, an incomparably sharp sword aura burst forth from the Broken Abyss Sword, directly meeting Pan Hongru's attack.
"boom--"
The two powerful forces collided with a deafening roar, and the entire space seemed to tremble violently as if shaken by the force.
Pan Hongru was forced to retreat by this force, his face instantly turning extremely pale, like an eggplant struck by frost, as white as paper.
"The Broken Abyss Sword?" Pan Hongru stared at the long sword through gritted teeth, his eyes filled with fear and resentment.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Fu Yunshu quickly retreated to Yin Lisheng and Qiu Nan's side, and said in a low voice, "Let's go now!"
However, at this moment, Yin Lisheng suddenly felt a dizzying sensation, and a wave of vertigo washed over him. The scene before his eyes began to blur, as if shrouded in a layer of mist.
He tried his best to stay conscious, but his consciousness was like a wild horse, uncontrollably sinking into the abyss of darkness.
"Li Sheng!" Qiu Nan exclaimed in surprise upon seeing this, and quickly reached out to support him, his face full of anxiety and worry.
Yin Lisheng's consciousness drifted in a chaotic darkness, surrounded by endless darkness. He tried to shout for help, but his throat seemed to be blocked, and he could not make any sound.
Just then, a gentle and mellow voice sounded in his ear: "Child, you have finally come."
Yin Lisheng suddenly opened his eyes and found himself standing in a vast white space, with a handsome white-robed immortal standing in front of him.
"Who are you?" Yin Lisheng looked at the man in front of him warily, his eyes full of vigilance and doubt.
The man's lips curled into a warm smile as he said, "I am Chi Du."
"The founder of the Qingyuan Sect, Master Chi Du?" Yin Lisheng stared wide-eyed at the man before him in disbelief.
Then, he quickly shook his head, thinking to himself, "Master Chi Du has been dead for tens of thousands of years, how could he possibly still appear in front of me?"
Chi Du seemed to have anticipated Yin Lisheng's reaction, and said with a knowing look, "I have been dead for more than ten thousand years. What you see now is just a wisp of remnant soul parasitizing the Broken Abyss Sword."
"I see." Although Yin Lisheng still had doubts, he still bowed respectfully to Chi Du, showing perfect manners.
"Junior Yin Lisheng greets Master Chi Du. May I ask why Master has summoned me here?"
Master Chi Du waved his hand and said in a kind tone, "No need for formalities. I've been waiting for you here because I want to ask you a few questions."
Yin Lisheng quickly replied, "Please speak, Master."
Master Chi Du's gaze was profound as he slowly asked, "Why do you cultivate?"
Yin Lisheng was slightly taken aback, then fell into deep thought. After a moment, he answered firmly, "I cultivate to become stronger, and to avenge my family."
Master Chi Du nodded slightly, then asked, "What happens after you've taken your revenge? Will you continue your cultivation? Or what if you fail to find your enemy and your revenge is unsuccessful?"
Yin Lisheng was taken aback; he had never thought about this question carefully before. Since the massacre of his entire family, avenging the Yin family had become his sole motivation, supporting him through countless hardships and dangers. He had never considered what would happen after he had taken revenge.
"Disciple...disciple never thought of that." Yin Lisheng's voice carried a hint of confusion and bewilderment.
Master Chi Du looked at him gently and said earnestly, "You carry many mysteries on your shoulders. The massacre of your entire family is a heavy burden. I know how hard and difficult your journey has been."
"But the path of cultivation is long and arduous. If you cling to hatred, you will only lose your true self on this long journey and fall into an abyss from which there is no return."
Yin Lisheng's gaze gradually turned cold as he said, "Revenge is my true nature, and it is the only belief that keeps me alive."
"Is that so?" Master Chi Du sighed softly, his voice full of regret. "Since you are so determined to take revenge, you must first make yourself stronger. Why don't I lend you a hand?"
"Thank you for your kindness, Master, but this is my own business, so I won't trouble you with it." Yin Lisheng's words were distant.
The implication is: outsiders should mind their own business.
Master Chi Du seemed oblivious to his implied meaning and continued, "I have a sword called Duan Yuan. It accompanied me in slaying the Demon Lord, sealing the Demon Emperor, establishing Qingyuan, and fighting in the south and north. It has endured countless bloody battles. If you don't mind, how about you accept it?"
Yin Lisheng blinked, looking bewildered, and subconsciously exclaimed "Huh?", clearly taken aback by the sudden suggestion.
“However,” Chi Du Zhenren’s tone changed, and his expression became serious, “I hope you will grant me one request.”
Conditions? Yin Lisheng fell into deep thought. If he could truly obtain the Spirit Sword Broken Abyss, it would undoubtedly be a great help on his path to revenge, but…
"Haven't you thought it through yet, kid? Let me remind you, I don't have much time left, you'd better hurry up and make a decision." Chi Du Zhenren's lips curled up slightly, his face beaming with a smile, like a mischievous child.
"I promise you," Yin Lisheng replied solemnly, his eyes filled with determination.
"OK."
Master Chi Du beckoned, leaned close to Yin Lisheng's ear, whispered something, and then gently pushed him away.
Yin Lisheng's expression didn't change much; he simply said, "I understand."
Master Chi Du smiled slightly, his figure gradually becoming as faint as a thin veil, almost invisible, and said, "Now I really have to leave, and you should also go back to where you belong."
Yin Lisheng glanced at him with a complicated expression, then suddenly remembered something and hurriedly called out, "Wait a minute, senior! In that mahogany box..."
But before he could finish speaking, the last wisp of Chi Du Zhenren's soul dissipated in this vast white space.
Yin Lisheng: "..." He secretly regretted that he shouldn't have chatted idly; he should have asked about the important matters first.
At the same time, Fu Yunshu and the others saw the Broken Abyss Sword suddenly shine brightly, the dazzling white light causing them to involuntarily close their eyes. After the light dissipated, the Broken Abyss Sword vanished without a trace, as if it had never existed.
"Wow, this is truly heaven's help!" Upon seeing this, Pan Hongru couldn't help but laugh loudly, his laughter filled with pride and arrogance. Without the suppression of the Broken Abyss Sword, he believed that obtaining that mahogany box would be a piece of cake.
Fu Yunshu and Qiu Nan, of course, wouldn't let him succeed. The two quickly stepped in to stop him, but were swarmed by the controlled henchmen like mad dogs, who held them firmly in place. Fu Yunshu's heart sank. Just as he was about to break the restraints and fight with all his might, he saw Pan Hongru suddenly sway, kneel down, clutch his head, and howl in pain.
"?" Fu Yunshu and the others looked at each other in confusion, completely unaware of what had happened.
On the main peak.
With a sharp crack, a head fell to the ground, and blood splattered on the floor of the hall, resembling blooming red plum blossoms.
All the elders in the main hall looked at Song Wenzhuo in horror, their eyes filled with fear and shock, as if they had seen a demon descend.
"Sect...Sect Master, you...you killed Elder Pan?" an elder stammered, his voice trembling with fear.
Song Wenzhuo glanced indifferently at the corpse on the ground, his voice as cold and piercing as frost in winter: "It's just a shell with only a wisp of divine consciousness left, it's useless to keep it."
"Huh?" The elders were all astonished, exchanging bewildered glances.
An elder mustered his courage and stepped forward to check the situation, and found that, as Song Wenzhuo had said, Pan Hongru's consciousness was no longer in this body, leaving only an empty shell.
"What's going on?" The elders whispered among themselves, their faces filled with confusion and worry.
Song Wenzhuo walked back to his seat with an indifferent expression, as if everything that had just happened was nothing more than a trivial matter.
"Wait."
Although the elders were full of doubts, since the sect leader had already spoken, they had no choice but to remain seated in fear, not daring to utter a sound.
"My body! Song Wenzhuo, I will never forgive you!" Pan Hongru's expression was ferocious, as if a demon had appeared in the world. He screamed and rolled on the ground, his voice full of resentment and anger.
Fu Yunshu instantly understood that this person had probably placed his body in the main peak and was using the water mirror to check the situation in the secret realm with Song Wenzhuo and the others. He didn't expect that Song Wenzhuo would see through his plan and destroy his body.
Such a golden opportunity was not one that Fu Yunshu would easily let slip. He lightly touched the ground with his feet and moved forward as swiftly as an arrow, his long sword flashing with cold light, aiming straight for Pan Hongru's chest, intending to deliver a fatal blow.
However, Pan Hongru suddenly came to his senses, a fierce glint flashing in his eyes. With a wave of his hand, he easily shattered the sword light, as if it were nothing more than a fragile bubble.
"Kill me?" Pan Hongru stood up with a gloomy face, his body exuding a strong black aura. "Even if my soul and body are destroyed today, I will drag the Qingyuan Sect down with me and make you all die with me!"
His body began to tremble violently, and a black aura surged out of him like a raging tide, causing his aura to surge once again.
Pan Hongru suddenly bit his tongue, spitting out a mouthful of blood essence, which transformed into a strange blood-red light in the air. He quickly formed hand seals, and his black spiritual energy instantly transformed into a huge, ferocious beast phantom, baring its fangs and claws, as if it wanted to devour everything in the world, and fiercely pounced towards Fu Yunshu and the others.
"Watch out!" Fu Yunshu shouted in a low voice, his voice booming. He swung his long sword sharply, and the sword energy blocked the three people in front of him, trying to resist the fierce attack.
The sword energy and the black spiritual power collided violently, unleashing a deafening roar, as if the sky were collapsing and the earth were splitting apart.
"You little trick, you can't stop me!" Pan Hongru laughed wildly, his laughter full of disdain and smugness. He once again controlled the phantom of the ferocious beast to attack the group.
Fu Yunshu couldn't care less about anything else at this moment. Just as he was about to summon the Cold Cry Sword and fight with all his might, a huge fan seemed to fall from the sky and suddenly appeared in front of them, like an indestructible barrier, steadily blocking this fatal blow.
"It's quite lively here." A lazy voice rang out, breaking the tense and oppressive atmosphere.
