It was foggy in the early morning. The city gate had just opened and a carriage entered the city.
The people in the car lifted the curtains and looked out curiously at the scenery of the capital.
When she saw the majestic imperial city and the orderly streets, she opened her eyes wide and said to the carriage driver, "Xuezhu, this Dacheng capital city is indeed different."
Xuezhu rode the horse skillfully, but a look of worry appeared on her face. "Miss Wang..., if we run out like this, we'll definitely be discovered..."
The person in the car didn't care at all. "We've already arrived in the capital of Dacheng. There's no point in you being scared. Why don't we just have some fun here for a while? Then I'll go find Uncle Wang. Father won't do anything to me."
"Let's go to the inn first."
Xuezhu stopped talking and continued driving the carriage.
On the way, their carriage passed by the Jingzhao Yin Mansion and saw rows of people sitting on the ground, holding signs in their hands.
"What's going on? Is this some kind of festival?"
Xuezhu shook her head, "Miss, I don't know the Chinese characters of the Central Plains."
The people in the car chuckled, "What's the point of learning the Central Plains characters? It's useless!"
She lowered the curtain and stopped looking until Xuezhu drove the carriage to the largest inn in the capital, then she got off.
As soon as the two got out of the car, they were stared at by many passers-by, and some even looked at them unfriendlyly.
Sensing these unusual things, the girl in yellow took out a whip from her bosom, pointed at one of them and said, "What are you looking at?! Believe it or not, I will dig your eyes out!"
The inn's waiter came out quickly and welcomed the two of them in. "Would you like to stay overnight or have a meal?"
Xuezhu stopped her girl's whip and whispered to her, "Miss, this is Dacheng, you should keep a low profile."
"Open the best room." She said to the waiter again.
The waiter nodded, opened the room for them, and asked, "Are you two adults?"
Xuezhu nodded.
Out of kindness, the waiter still reminded them: "You two girls are out in the open. The clothes you wear don't suit Dacheng's customs. It would be better for you to change into the clothes here."
The woman in yellow and Xuezhu looked down at their clothes and found that they were indeed different from the women around them.
Dacheng women's clothing mostly consists of cross-collared tops and long skirts.
They wore narrow sleeves, tops and long trousers, and used belts to hold their waists, which was indeed very strange.
They had been walking on remote roads all the way here and had rarely passed through the city. It was only after entering the capital that they noticed the difference in their clothes.
The woman in yellow took a look at the dresses worn by the women of Dacheng, most of which were very flowing and solemn.
She looked at her own again, curled her lips, and thought hers was still the best looking.
Xuezhu took note, thanked the waiter for his kindness, and asked, "Where can I buy some clothes?"
The waiter pointed in a direction, "Baoshang Pavilion in the east of the city is the largest and best here."
The woman in yellow was very aloof all the way, didn't talk much, and had a whip in her hand. She looked like someone who was not easy to mess with.
After opening the shop and putting down their luggage, the two decided to go to the Baoshang Pavilion that the waiter mentioned.
After all, the two of them ran away secretly, and it would be bad if the clothes they brought with them allowed someone to recognize their identities at a glance.
…
Early that morning, Yuan Musheng did not ask the stable to prepare the carriage as usual, but went out alone.
He walked towards the Jingzhao Yin Mansion and observed the situation in front of the Jingzhao Yin Mansion from a corner.
Wei Tianci also sat in front of the mansion gate with a group of students, as if they would not give up until a decision was made for him.
This situation has been going on for three days, and things have almost become serious.
These days, whether in restaurants or teahouses, the entire capital city has been discussing this imperial examination case.
Due to the deliberate guidance of Wei Tianci's family, the indignation of a group of students, and the fact that someone secretly spread the story that Yuan Musheng had been hanging around in brothels and forcing innocent girls at a young age, Yuan Musheng's reputation in the entire capital was now extremely bad.
He is no longer that handsome and elegant young man.
According to Yuan Cheng's estimation, there should be censors coming to impeach him at the morning court today.
So Yuan Musheng came to the Jingzhao Yin Mansion by himself, and after finding out the situation, he walked out from the corner.
Someone saw him at first sight, "Look! That's Yuan Musheng!"
Wei Tianci had been sitting there for a few days and his eyes were a little blurry. When he saw Yuan Musheng coming over by himself, he was completely stunned.
He actually dared to show up openly at the center of the storm.
Yuan Musheng walked up to Wei Tianci. They were both wearing the same white clothes, one standing and the other sitting.
"Brother Wei, it would be best if you could take everyone back with you. The officials from the Ministry of Rites who are in charge of the imperial examinations have been very strict and there have been no mistakes or omissions in the examinations."
Upon hearing this, before Wei Tianci could even speak, the students behind him shouted, "You are the princess's son, so you naturally have all-powerful power. You say there are no mistakes or omissions, right?!"
Yuan Musheng's expression remained unchanged upon hearing this. He simply looked at the group of students behind Wei Tianci and said, "This matter was originally a development of a personal grudge between me and Brother Wei. You all are rare talents in Dacheng. If you listen to Musheng's advice, it would be better for you to return home as soon as possible."
He looked frank, as if he had never done anything dirty.
Some students were enlightened by his words, and after thinking about it carefully, they felt that what Yuan Musheng said was indeed right.
Wei Tianci had offended the royal nobles and ruined his future, but now they were following him. What if he couldn't fight back in the end and ruined his own future as well?
They have been sitting here for three days, and Yuan Musheng has come here. Presumably, the matter has already reached the ears of the Heavenly Family.
If this ends up in nothing, who knows what will become of them.
