Chapter 186 Are You Willing?

Yuan Musheng and Xie Wanqing stood together, watching Yuan Zhao and others leave.

Xie Wanqing looked at her mother's smiling face and couldn't help but smile, with a hint of bitterness.

Even after she could no longer see them, her gaze still lingered on one place.

Yuan Musheng kept an arm's length away from her and said calmly, "Miss Xie, please take a seat."

Xie Wanqing turned around and sat down, continuing to look at the figure on the martial arts training ground.

Neither she nor Yuan Musheng spoke.

When Yuan Musheng was about to sit down, he saw the figure who had left earlier coming back again.

Jing Yang was talking to Helian Yu beside the martial arts training ground.

From a distance, she seemed to have stopped crying.

Helian Yu put down his spear and trotted to the edge of the martial arts training ground. The two of them talked, and he turned his head from time to time to look in the direction of Yuan Musheng and the others.

After a while, the two of them walked towards the pavilion.

Xie Wanqing couldn't help but stand up, and she stood side by side with Yuan Musheng.

Seeing Helian Yu getting closer, she couldn't help but clench her hands.

Even though he appeared calm on the surface, he seemed to be able to hear his own heartbeat.

In the days since she returned home after the Spring Banquet, the scene of Helian Yu standing in front of her that night was always vivid in her mind.

There is also his heroic figure riding a horse and shooting arrows at the racecourse.

She carefully put the rose pinned to her temples into a box.

Xie Wanqing repeatedly told herself not to think about it, but she couldn't control herself.

Whenever she looked at the square sky above her head, that hearty smile would appear before her eyes.

Now seeing him walking towards her step by step, her eyes focused and stayed only on him.

Jing Yang and Helian Yu walked over, stood under the pavilion, and looked at Yuan Musheng and Xie Wanqing.

The three steps of the pavilion are located between the four people facing each other.

"Brother Mu Sheng, Miss Xie, Jingyang and I will be leaving for Beiqiang in two days." Perhaps not noticing that Xie Wanqing was also there, Helian Yu smiled at her.

"I heard there's a Dragon Boat Festival Lantern Festival in the capital tonight. Would you be so kind as to accompany us for a bit of fun?"

Yuan Musheng looked down at Jingyang on the steps and saw that she had regained her composure.

Although her eyes were a little red, she just smiled when she noticed his gaze.

Brilliant, like a flower facing the sun.

She looked at Xie Wanqing again and invited her, "Miss Xie, please come with us. The four of us are the same age, so we should have a lot to talk about."

Yuan Musheng thought Xie Wanqing would not agree, but unexpectedly, she nodded gently, "Then it's better to obey than to be respectful."

Helian Yu raised his eyebrows at Xie Wanqing and smiled brightly.

"Then let's go back and get ready. See you in the evening!"

After saying that, Jing Yang pulled Helian Yu back with a smile still on his lips.

She had made up her mind that being sad about the passing of spring and autumn had never been her style, and she hated the crybaby version of herself.

Since we are destined to separate, let's say goodbye properly.

Only Yuan Musheng and Xie Wanqing were left there.

Suddenly, Xie Wanqing called out, "Master Mu Sheng."

Yuan Musheng said "hmm" softly.

Xie Wanqing bit her lower lip and asked a question that a girl in the boudoir shouldn't ask.

"Will you marry me?"

Yuan Musheng couldn't help but turn his head to look at her.

The girl from the Xie family is pretty, with beautiful eyebrows and curved eyes, and is gentle and quiet.

But when she asked this question, there was no trace of shyness on her face like a little girl.

She was very open and seemed to be really asking for his opinion.

The two looked at each other in a long silence.

Xie Wanqing already knew the answer.

Yuan Musheng looked into her calm eyes and asked, "Miss Xie, are you willing?"

Are you willing?

No one asked her if she was willing.

Yuan Musheng was the first one.

For more than ten years, she has been the daughter of the Xie family and has been taught since childhood to be a role model of noble ladies in the capital.

She did it, but she didn't feel very happy.

She had watched folk puppet shows before, and she felt like a puppet, being pulled by strings and making movements she didn't want to make.

She has always known that she cannot make the decision on a major life event like marriage.

Xie Wanqing suddenly found it ridiculous that two people who had no say in marriage were asking such a meaningless question.

A gust of wind blew by, and the purple petals on the sycamore tree in the garden fell all over the ground.

Flowers fell like rain, but she did not answer Yuan Musheng.

He just murmured, "Spring is coming to an end."

Yuan Zhao took the two ladies to the flower hall. Qiao sat there for a while and said that she came to visit them because she heard that Yuan Xuan and Yuan Nan'an were injured.

She asked Yuan Zhao to send someone to take her to visit the child, and consciously left room for Yuan Zhao and Mrs. Xie to talk.

After Mrs. Qiao left, Yuan Zhao and Mrs. Xie sat together and drank tea.

It was Madam Xie who spoke first, "Your Highness, looking at the eldest young master today, he is truly the most outstanding man in the entire capital."

Yuan Zhao smiled and picked up the teacup, "Thank you for the compliment, Madam."

"I heard that the eldest son recently wanted to become the apprentice of Prime Minister Dou?" Madam Xie seemed to have just thought of this and brought it up. "Prime Minister Dou has always been a clean official in the court. Did the eldest son's apprenticeship go smoothly?"

"These days, Sheng'er has been busy receiving diplomatic delegations with his two royal brothers, so this matter has been temporarily put on hold." Yuan Zhao did not directly answer whether it was going smoothly or not.

But in fact, Yuan Musheng had visited Dou Chengzhong several times. Although Dou Chengzhong was polite and admired him, he did not make a clear statement about accepting him as a disciple.

Yuan Cheng didn't know what the considerations were, but he felt that it was probably because Prime Minister Dou wanted to stay out of trouble and didn't want to be involved in the battle for the throne, so he avoided suspicion.
