Chapter 64: Acting like a spoiled child

A subtle smile flashed under Chen Nian'an's lowered eyes, but when he looked up again, he became depressed and lonely again, looking at Gu Boyan with a little disappointment.

Looking closely, the crystal clear eyes were shrouded in a layer of mist, which made Gu Boyan feel as if he had fallen into an icy cave even in the scorching heat of June. The pretentious anger he had shown before suddenly disappeared without even a trace of exhaust.

Left with only panic, Gu Boyan took a step forward, walked around to the desk in two steps, lowered his eyes to look into Chen Nian'an's eyes, and subconsciously stretched out his hand, as if wanting to hold her in his arms. But he suddenly stopped in mid-air, curled up his fingertips, and after a few seconds, he silently retracted his hand, letting it hang on the edge of his suit trousers.

"No...that's not what I meant," he muttered with his head down, his bony fingers unconsciously rubbing against the fabric of his trouser legs.

"Hmm?" Chen Nian'an tilted her head. If Gu Boyan had looked closely, he would have noticed that her eyes were already tinged with a faint smile. "So what do you mean?"

"I..." Gu Boyan didn't look into her eyes. His gaze fell on the floor. The marble reflected him and Chen Nian'an vaguely. Their shadows and clothes overlapped vaguely, making them look very close.

His Adam's apple slid up and down, and he suddenly raised his eyes, looked directly into Chen Nian'an's eyes, and whispered: "I'm not angry for no reason, nor did I use cold violence against you for no reason, nor did I question you."

"I just..." It seemed that because he rarely expressed his deepest feelings since he was a child, Gu Boyan had a hard time saying these words, "I don't like you looking at other... men"

"Chen Nian'an, I'm jealous"

Gu Boyan finally finished speaking, his expression somewhat unnatural, and there was a barely perceptible tinge of embarrassment on his ears.

Before he was fourteen, he struggled in the alleys. His mother Shi Man ensured that he had enough food and clothing, and taught him that if he wanted to become an outstanding leader, he had to be courageous, fearless, impeccable and indestructible.

Single mother Shi Man is a dance teacher with no background. After being married to Gu Liliang for a year, she found out that he was having an affair with Huang Yanzhu. She decisively got a divorce certificate even if it meant leaving the house with nothing.

After leaving, she found out that she was pregnant and gave birth to the baby in secret.

She was like a solid shield, holding back all her tears, timidity, and retreat. The children she taught were exactly the same, no longer able to cry out in pain, let alone express love in a soft voice.

At this moment, Gu Boyan hated himself for the first time. Why couldn't he say more? Why couldn't he say a little more? But the words seemed to be muted when they reached his lips. He seemed helpless and could only repeat them in vain.

"I didn't use the cold violence against you, I was just... jealous."

The disappointment in Chen Nian'an's eyes stung him. Gu Boyan didn't want to quarrel, and was even more afraid of what she would say.

Chen Nian quietly looked at his struggling brows and pupils tinged with pain, and sighed silently.

He originally wanted to guide Gu Boyan to learn to express his hidden emotions, but now that he did it, Chen Nian'an's heart sank and a hint of bitterness appeared on the tip of his tongue.

Heartbroken.

She felt sorry for Gu Boyan.

Chen Nian'an moved his hand and suddenly grabbed Gu Boyan's hand, which had been curled up on the side of his thigh and suit pants. Unknowingly, the big palm, which had been full of warmth, suddenly turned a little cold.

She even felt that the temperature of Gu Boyan's palm was not as high as hers.

When the soft and delicate fingers touched each other, Gu Boyan's eyes widened slightly, showing confusion.

Chen Nian'an's heart softened instantly, and she replied to the question that made him feel the most insecure, "Gu Boyan, I won't abandon you."

"You have the right to express your dissatisfaction with confidence." Chen Nian'an pinched the back of his hand, looked up at Gu Boyan's surprised gaze, and said patiently: "But you have to say it. If you don't say it, how will I know? If two people who love each other don't express it, misunderstandings will be difficult to express, and they will eventually drift apart."

"Just like before, you were obviously jealous, but you ignored me, and I didn't know why you were angry. If you told me directly, I could explain it to you."

"Am I right?" Chen Nian'an asked.

Gu Boyan let her play with the back of his hand, his deep black eyes fixed on her, as if he was thinking about something, as if he understood something.

In the large office, sunlight streamed in from the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting uneven shadows of the neighboring buildings on the white walls. After a long pause, Gu Boyan finally opened his mouth, pursed his lips, and asked, "Then why do you keep looking at those boys?"

Chen Nian'an was silent. She seriously suspected that Gu Boyan had heard the words, "You have the right to express your dissatisfaction with confidence."

As expected, seeing that she didn't answer, Gu Boyan tightened his lips and said dryly: "Didn't you say that I have the right to express my dissatisfaction? You also said that if I asked you, you would explain it to me, and you still..."

"Stop." Chen Nian'an wanted to express his urgency to make him shut up through his words and actions. He was about to let go of the hand that had been holding Gu Boyan and raise it in front of his face.

His intention was instantly seen through. Gu Boyan pinched her wrist completely with his backhand, and clenched his entire hand in his palm, seizing the initiative in a flash.

Gu Boyan looked at a scumbag who didn't keep her word, his eyes filled with resentment. Chen Nian'an slowly exhaled, curled the corners of his mouth into a deathly smile and said, "Excuse me, which boys did I look at?"

Gu Boyan was completely unaware of her sarcasm and snorted coldly, "Those ordinary male employees in the office on the second floor..."

He seriously suspected that the Human Resources Department recruited people based on appearance and hired only those who they liked.

"I didn't look at them," Chen Nian'an explained patiently, smiling. "I didn't even have time to see their appearance before you covered my eyes and dragged me away."

"Yes, we walked while hugging each other," Gu Boyan strictly corrected her inappropriate wording.

"Also," Gu Boyan stared at her sullenly, slurring out each word through gritted teeth, "You want to see their faces clearly!"
