Chapter 1: Transmigrating into a Book

Xia Ruonan was originally a miserable female programmer. After working overtime for 5 consecutive days, she died suddenly at her workstation.

The company gave her family a large sum of compensation. Her parents, who favored boys over girls, pretended to cry for a while, then happily took the money and bought a house for their son.

Xia Ruonan felt herself slowly floating up. She looked at "herself" lying in the morgue and felt endless desolation.

I feel so wronged. I have never been loved since I was a child. After I started working, I was endlessly exploited by my parents and younger brother. I have never enjoyed a single day of happiness and have never been loved by anyone. How could I die?

Xia Ruonan knelt in front of the King of Hell and cried.

The King of Hell had no choice but to promise her: "You suffered so much in your last life, so in this life I will grant you the wealth of gold and jade, and the infinite love."

In a flash, Xia Ruonan felt something pushing her through darkness, and then a beam of warm light shone over her.

"My queen, the child is safe, it's a little princess!" A young female voice came into her ears, and she felt herself being picked up.

My Lady? Little Princess? I traveled back in time to ancient times and became a princess?! The King of Hell really keeps his word!

"I'm glad you're safe. Yingxue, you protect the princess. I can still hold on. We have to ask Sangqi to restrain the horse quickly." A weak female voice came.

"My Lady, these two horses are very strange, like they're crazy!" Xia Ruonan could hear that the person who spoke was breathing heavily, as if he was trying his best to do something. The words seemed to be shouted out at the top of his lungs.

Then she heard a continuous creaking sound and the clattering of horse hooves. The arms holding her shook violently and uncontrollably, almost making her dizzy.

[Don't shake, don't shake! Where is this? ]

Xia Ruonan tried hard to open her eyes. In front of her was a woman in gorgeous clothes and a phoenix crown on her head. The one holding her was a maid with beautiful eyebrows and eyes. All around her were the walls of a carriage.

[No way! I'm a princess, and I was born in a carriage?]

[Wait, the Queen gave birth to a princess in a carriage, with two maids, Sang Qi and Ying Xue, by her side. Am I transmigrating into a book?!]

At this moment, the queen was leaning against the carriage, her dress covered in blood, her phoenix crown askew, her hair soaked with sweat and sticking to her face in a messy manner. Her eyes suddenly lit up.

Because she found that she heard a soft and urgent voice speaking, not Yingxue, nor Sangqi. Could it be an illusion caused by her weakness?

Xia Ruonan, lying in Yingxue's arms, was thinking furiously. She had just read a novel a while ago called "I Traveled to Ancient Times and Joined Hands with a Scheming Man to Conquer the Country."

This book mainly tells the story of a time-traveling woman and the prince of a fallen country who planned for many years and successfully restored their country. In the book, there is a queen of the Great Xia Kingdom, who is a cannon fodder character.

When she was eight months pregnant, the carriage was tampered with.

She was shaken and frightened, and gave birth to a little princess in the carriage. Then the carriage fell off a cliff, and both mother and daughter died tragically.

[My dear Queen, this horse has been drugged and is completely uncontrollable. Quickly, have someone cut the noose!]

[Wow… There’s a cliff ahead! ]

When the queen heard the sound for the second time, she looked at her daughter in a daze. It was her daughter who made the sound, but the little baby in front of her just opened her mouth and cried.

Yes, that is my daughter’s voice!

The queen suddenly realized that she could hear her daughter's thoughts. Although she did not understand what it meant to travel through a book, it seemed that her daughter had the ability to see through the world.

If what my daughter said is true, then the carriage is about to fall off the cliff!

"Sangqi, jump on the horse and cut the rope of the shaft." The queen shouted to the front with all her might.

"Yes! Your Majesty, Yingxue, hold on tight!" The maid named Sang Qi let go of the reins, jumped onto the horse's back, pulled out a dagger from her boot with her right hand, quickly cut the noose on the horse, and then jumped off the horse again.

Then, under the influence of inertia, Sang Qi fell to the ground and rolled several times.

The two horses galloped out in an instant.

Without the support of the horses, the two long shafts hit the ground heavily, causing the carriage to shake violently.

The Queen and Yingxue's heads banged against the carriage uncontrollably. Yingxue ignored the pain and just hunched over, trying her best to protect the princess.

The queen no longer cared about the pain. She listened carefully. After a burst of horse hooves, two sharp horse neighs suddenly pierced the sky.

This was followed by two loud but distant muffled sounds.

The queen's heart tightened. It was right. Her daughter had really been right.

If he had not made the decisive decision to abandon the horse, he and his daughter would have fallen off the cliff.

After a moment, everything returned to silence.

"Your Majesty, the carriage has stopped. The imperial guards will be here to find us soon." Yingxue slowed down and straightened up while holding Xia Ruonan.

Sang Qi, who was wearing riding clothes, had also climbed up from the ground. Without bothering to brush off the dust on her body, she walked forward, lifted the curtain, and helped the queen out of the carriage.

"My queen, are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?" Sang Qi asked as he helped Yingxue out.

"I'm fine. Come and see if the little princess is hurt." The queen held the carriage, stood up with difficulty, and looked at Xia Ruonan anxiously.

Yingxue handed the child to the Queen and said, "Your Majesty, look, the little princess is fine except for not having a bath! Although she is premature, she is very healthy."

[Thank God, thank you my clever queen mother, woooo… I’m saved, my life is saved.] Xia Ruonan was ecstatic at this moment, but she could only babble to express her excitement.

The queen's lips curled up, and she reached out and gently stroked Xia Ruonan's cheek. She was thankful for her precious daughter's reminder. This little baby could actually predict the future. Could this be a lucky star bestowed upon her by God?

"Sang Qi, look inside the car, pick out some useful things, find a place to rest on the side of the road, and wait for the imperial guards to come find us." The queen ordered.

Sangqi responded and jumped into the car.

[What? Mother, you're going to wait on the side of the road for help? I'm done for! My poor life is doomed!]

The queen frowned. The out-of-control horse had been dealt with, so what danger could there be?

"Hey, I remember the book saying that the Empress Dowager and Concubine Jiang put a lot of effort into setting up this trap. Not only did they drug the horses, they also ambushed assassins on the road, and maybe even planted people in the imperial guards. Sitting by the roadside waiting, weren't they just afraid the assassins wouldn't notice?"
